Just a tip with cottage cheese, the texture is really important. You got the liquid kind, I usually get a quite solid chunky brand. Ik you'll probably never try it again but if you do, remember "chunky not fluid"
I feel like something with that kind of texture and slightly cheesy smell would gross me out if I didn't know how it is and was already expecting it to be unpleasant. Should have tried with some tortilla chips or cracker maybe to provide texture. I agree it doesn't look like the best curds to whey ratio

Sludge/EPC main here. Quick tip on the sludge puddles: The heavy hitter OC for the EPC + the T1 damage mod + Plasma Burn will let you light the puddles in 2 shots. It also deals with the sludge pump's main weakness, flying enemies, much more effectively as heavy hitter weakshot hits will just wipe out mactera very efficiently. Also the "Fire a charged shot while running away" works *really* well with the Goo Bomber special if you have enough space in front of you.
The base gun does this already. It takes 20 heat to light up the puddles and the Plasma Burn does 5 heat base + 25% more from direct damage. So 20 base damage is already 10 heat per shot. 40 base damage works out to 15 heat per shot.
@@NotbadNZ I did lots of testing on this and it doesn't actually work in game the way it does on paper. There must be enough heat loss between shots that the heat of the puddle dips below the 20 heat threshold. I tested Base Gun, Base Gun + Damage Mod, Heavy Hitter with no damage mod and Heavy Hitter + Damage mod and ONLY Heavy Hitter + damage mod reliably lit a puddle on fire in 2 shots. Everything else required 3 shots. I don't know how the game handles heat loss on a sludge puddle since it isn't an enemy that has a specific, known, heat loss value. Only needing 2 shots for puddles means that even with Heavy Hitter's ammo penalty, you have plenty of EPC ammo to light puddles and have more than enough to shoot flying targets out of the air. The huge damage you get from heavy hitter + damage mod means it only takes a few shots to kill most flying targets and once you light them on fire, the burn damage will typically finish them off, letting you further conserve your EPC ammo.

I have been a fan of it when it was first released and it is really nice to see it get some quality of life updates. Looking forward to that Wave Cooker video and want to hear your opinions on the overclocks. (Gamma most of all, the DoT is interesting.)
Fun fact: in the season 1 experimental branch, you could fire a normal EPC shot at a puddle to electrify it. This was because EPC damage is half electric and half fire, I believe. It wasn’t intentional either, but seeing goo puddles glowing blue with electricity was a sight to behold.
Sludgepump is what I take unless I specifically want a cold or hot build. Too often do I join games with Fire or Ice weapons and find another player has the opposite of what I've brought. So instead if you run the sludge pump you're able to synergize with everyone, and quite often make heroic plays by slowing down bugs and reviving team mates. Great weapon.
I know this reply is _WAY_ too late, but opposite temperatures are actually awesome, thanks to the temperature shock mechanic. 200 damage is nothing to sneeze at. Though of course you'd ideally set them on fire first then freeze, since being frozen is far more powerful than burning.
Just bought the game in the winter sale with a couple of friends and found your channel while looking for tutorials and I can only say: the community already seems great, and your videos are awesome. Such witty humor and so relatable even though I have only just started playing the game.
I used to hate the sludge pump but I NEVER TRIED IT after the update I decided to give it a shot (using impact mixture) been basically only using it on my driller for quite a bit now and it is by far my favorite driller weapon and I don’t even think I’ve mastered it
My problem with Sludge Pump that it makes me feel bad for anything I hit with it. Like I'm doing something dirty, something illegal and inhumane. For sure the Driller violates the Geneva Conventions the most.
Congrats, this is the video that got me into playing DRG. I'd never heard of the game before, but I saw the word 'corrosive sludge pump' in the title and clicked out of curiosity, saw you fire one charged shot from this thing and said "ok this game looks sick and this is my weapon." Took a while to unlock it, but man, it has everything I want in a weapon in any game. Big AOE, big DoT, slow, tricky projectiles, interactions with fire for even more dots, sticky dot on direct shots, and it's a bigass sludge pump. As someone who always seeks out the gooiest and gassiest way to play any game I get my hands on, it just fits. Actually Driller as a whole was just made for me. I like every one of Driller's weapons aside from the pistol.
Hey, Drilly boi! Just wanted to throw my two cents on the Sludge Blast OC. It's mainly a thing to use in Dreadnaught missions when you wanna be able to do some burst damage as well as apply DOTs. Combining it with a CWC set to neurotoxin poisoned enemies and slow any enemy hit by it is a really fun combo, especially if you're running Born Ready to reload your "Shot Sludge" in the meantime. I really don't like using it for regular mobbing and generally use Disperser Compound when going into normal missions with it. Personally, this Gold 2 Driller needs to experiment more with all the other OCs for it, but Sludge Blast does have a VERY important place in the Driller's Dreadnaught arsenal from everything I've seen and used.
Agreed. Sludge blast melts dread much more quickly than vim if most pellets hit, with similar, if not better, ammo efficiency. The DPS and total damage on Karl does not take charged shot into account
I'm also a huge fan of using it with gamma wave clear builds on CWC because it helps plug the gap sludge blast suffers in minion clearing while also offering irradiating damage on waves and dreads, though necrosis OC I would imagine works well too (I personally use necrosis with ice storm though so am unsure on viability of combo, needs more testing).
I've always been a fan of DOT in games so the sludge pump and new buff is great for me! Thanks for putting in so much effort for these videos. Its a nice way for me to relax watching these at the end of the day and I really appreciate it. Keep it up man!

As a recent Sludge Pump Convert, I tried Sludge Blast on Dreads and found it pretty good, however I lost out on swarms so I’m gonna be taking VIM instead. A little less damage on Dreads is okay if I can get better against everything else. Also DoT stacking using the Colette is no joke, I’m able to bring Bulks to a standstill with Gamma Lens and Neurotoxin, and shred through 4 player Haz 5 swarms like butter
Try using sludge blast with a secondary that gives reliable aoe. Epc charge shot and Colette boiler ray are pretty good. He nade also lookin fine over there in the dumpster.
Huge fan of the dispersal DoT-based sludge pump; it does area control like nothing else, leaving you to move on to the next threat. Absolutely my favorite driller primary.
I love sludge blast, I felt so accomplished with finding such an amazing single target weapon on driller. I still do fell that way about it but you’ve influenced me to try these new overclocks when I get them lol. You do great work man I’ll be waiting for more from you.
Every time I use the sludge 2 songs are playing in my head on repeat, “Toxic Wisdom” and “Return to Slime” by DM Dokuro, and it gets me pumped (pun fully intended) to use the weapon especially during solo deep and elite deep dives
Glad you're making content again! I think goo gun is the best primary on driller for many situations. Sludge Blast and VIM make it the #1 dread killer for Driller, and nothing is immune to corrosive damage. I personally prefer HI over Disperser Compound because the latter seems very overkill to me. HI provides a stronger slow AND more damage while maintaining a great cc. HI goo gun is my go to build for any EDD because it's good for everything. The enormous slow is good for dreads, aoe strong enough for swarmaggedon, and the frags are decent for mactera plague. I'm still a CRSPR supremacist, but the Mighty Poop Gun is a worthy challenger and perhaps equal.
I love running sludge pump with sludge blast OC (12212). I pair it with overcharged flying nightmare epc (21211) to compensate for sludge blast's weakness against crowds in a line. Build so good you don't even really need grenades, but they are nice for more aoe or single target damage.
Sludge + Disperser compound is what I live by as driller. It's the perfect complement to the drillers other abilities, especially in defensive combat situation or in situations where you can drill out your own chokepoints. Shooting the ceiling medium sized doretta-sized tunnels is also excellent with disperser, since a couple of charged shots will completely coat the tunnel. And making narrow trenches and chokepoints for enemies to crawl through will just decimate incoming groups of grunts and swarmers.
Thanks for your entertaining take on making DRG videos. Ive recently switched to driller and fell in love with the cryo cannon. Guess i gotta give the cottage cheese pump a chance now.
My favorite thing about the sludge pump is that it's not as influenced by temperature differences in biomes such as glacial strata or magma core. Other things such as rival presence also influence me to pick one or the toger between the cryo cannon and the crispr, but the sludge pump works great in every situation
Sludge pump is my fave since it has been released - it's just so different, rewarding and a swiss army knife of utility that neither Frost nor Fire can compete.
I absolutely love the sludge pump weapon. It's my main weapon for Driler, especially against Dreadnoughts. Slowing the bugs down and watching them dissolve away is just oh so satisfying.
Alright slightly off topic the slow effect on the wave cooker is really good against dreads. Just click ever second and watch your team do all the work. Just one ammo per second really allows you to keep up a slow effect for almost 5 minutes if need be.
When I tried sludge pump after initially not liking i, I was pleasantly surprised at how fast it killed Dreadnauts. I used it more and now I like it almost as much as flamethrower.
Hey man. I can relate so much to your thoughts. I also love the Sludge Pump, and have come to the same conclusions as you. What I love about the Sludge Pump is the new DOT playstyle it brings to the Driller. Pairing it with Lingering Plasma and Gas Grenades has been great way to stack dots and a refreshing way to play. The Wave Cooker takes it one level higher since it has built-in gas cloud with the T5A mod, and another dot when using the Gamma Contamination OC. :)
Glad to see you gave AG mixture a try. I personally find it one of my favorite overclocks for the sludgy. Just a nice buff to your effective area and let's you get those pesky acid spitters on very high roofs easily when you don't got the space rig's microwave on ya. By far though my favorite part of driller is whenever I play him I really feel like I'm using my whole kit every mission. I can go whole missions as gunner and never use a zip line or shield. But driller, everything gets used either to dig or kill and sometimes both at the same time for efficiency. I love it
You didn't talk about the single biggest nerf it copped; they removed the T5 Upgrade: Ingredient X! Ingredient X was an upgrade that dissolved armour at incredible speed & basically made it so that you & your teammates could annihilate most enemies - great or small - with half or even a third of the normal ammo expenditure. It also turned things like Glyphid Guards, Praetorians & Mactera Brundles from somewhat noteworthy encounters, into complete non-issues. 10/10 it was the single best upgrade in the entire game, it will be missed o7
VIM sludge pump has become my go-to for elite deep dives - it can do everything from swarm clear to dreadnaughts and I can’t think of any other driller build that is quite as versatile.
Same! Grunts tend to get killed in a single shot from the CSP even with the corrosion DoT nerf, while still easily blasting through bigger targets and even holding its own against Rivals
been on the sludge life for most of the time i've been playing driller since gbs was one of my first overclocks. it's just mad fun, i don't really care how good my build is, though i'm quite happy with my current setup that's basically just maxing dot w/ the collette wave cooker's gamma emitter
Excellent video once again, many thanks! At first I didn't like Sludge Pump at all, but gradually it became my favorite Driller's primary weapon before Season 02. And now that it got buffed - even better! I use both single target and area denial builds. I usually pair my Sludge Pump with EPC capable for mining, although I really miss the ability to ignite the poo by myself. Probably not the best primary for the Driller, but I find it fun and it suits me.
Well, the sludge pump has the highest learning curve of driller's primaries, since it requires a mix of cc tactics, direct damage, and last-hitting enemies with secondaries, axes, etc. to get the most out of it. By comparison, the freeze-and-shoot of the cryo is a bit easier to learn, and so is the sticky flames strategy.
I recently picked up this game and unlocked the Sludge Pump, and i must say this weapon is so good! The slow + DoT combo and combining it with those microwave gun perk that gives corroded enemy poison really whittle the big bug's health down fast!
The Sludgy is so much better this season, I thought it was awful when it came out despite trying multiple builds for it, it came across as a worse sticky flame weapon. I'd say you're completely wrong about the sludge blast though, its my main OC for the weapon now and its extremely powerful. Besides being a one man dread deleting team, it has excellent single target and area damage and good range too. You don't use it to shotgun a guard at point blank (you can do that to prats and wardens though), instead, change position and aim for the centre of the pack like you'd do with any other charged shot. Once you get used to the aiming, its a total power house. Also the cottage cheese bit had me in tears, i'm subscribing just for that, GG.
Sludge Blast FEELS much more damaging than the Karl website suggests- it really chunks dmg out of high priority targets (Dreads, Bet-C). I like full charge shot & DOT dmg combo, with Slow & Neurotoxin (& Rad) on the Wave Cooker- this makes me feel extremely useful and flexible in Dread fights. Direct dmg, DOTs all day, crazy slows, ease of shooting, etc. Doesn't feel as good for crowds tho, like you said. My man, coming from the Midwest I can tell you Cottage Cheese gets a bad rap. It's great imo, BUT it suffers greatly from presentation and "mental buildup" when trying it. Combining this with people always casually using "cottage cheese" as a descriptor in science or the medical field, it really ruins the food imo lol. Cottage Cheese is exactly the reason I try my best to NEVER use any food as a descriptor for medical issues lol. I hope you try it again! A better brand, maybe add some pepper. Good luck lol
It’s because Sludge Blast makes it dramatically easier to land every fragment on your target. With normal charged shots, the fragments spread out radially from the point of impact, so you’ll almost always miss a few.

It not only feel, but is. T4:B reduces charge time to .4 seconds, and at 288 damage per shot the theoretical max is 720 DPS which is absolutely insane. You do end up losing a lot of DPS due the the charge, then click release mechanics unless you use a macro. 500-600 dps is quite doable by hand, 500 is easy without even trying very hard.
The Pump is my favorite driller primary . I even found a cool modified bunker strategy . i call it the "Eggplant bunker" . where you drill downward . put a c4. then make an upward spiral staircase . also a reversed T to the wall is good way to make normal waves easy .
Sludge is my main choice for fighting dreads. I can blast them once from any direction, get to a safe distance, and wait for the DoT to do its thing. Even better with wave cooker for extra dots.
I'm a new miner, silver two driller main. And I have no overclocks on the sludge pump and run some general build I got from ReepeeRon and it absolutely cheeses Haz 4 and 5 with the wave cooker. I initially thought it was just an ordinary poop cannon but it absolutely destroys and makes everything so much manageable. It's so ammo efficient as well. 4 ammo for a charged short to kill an entire group of grunts and slashers
I honestly can't change out of Sludge Pump + Wave Cooker ever since I started using them, even before the recent buffs. With all the DOT bonuses from the Sludge Pump & Wave Cooker using Gamma Contamination and with two sources of slowdown effects, I'm perfectly able to deal both with crowds and large targets. Even against bosses I'm able to deal good damage. And when I need that extra single target oomph, I have my axes. I might need to do a re-take on my Sludge Pump OCs though.

The build I like most with Sludge Pump: Volatile Impacts 11222 Makes the single fire slow kill basic grunts (For easy vampire targets), or the Charge Shot instant kills Slashers and gets armor grunts down to two pickaxe swings.
An alternative for the plasma burn epc pair for sludge: A 23111 gamma contamination cooker trades plasma and fire DoT for neurotoxin and radiation, while trading some ammo (and possibly dps? haven't crunched the numbers) for superior slowdown and instant long-range effectiveness. This particular build was effective enough to pull me out of TCF abuse, although I still swap back and forth pretty often :)
Few drillers may like the sludge pump, but I have loved it since getting it. One, I don't have to take friendly fire to reduce my attacks when allies are around. They'll need a bath later, but it can help to slow them down. I will miss melting detonators, but at least they can be frozen and killed still. Two, I've viewed the driller as more support than clearer. Digging escape tunnels, or hide tunnels when facing bigger baddies, is useful. Especially if you have time to set up. Even my C4 doesn't pack a punch. It is more designed for bigger holes when tunnels need a wider area. Still go with the running drills over the damaging ones cause it just feels off when trying to hurry a tunnel to the drop pod for the team. And three, the sludge can deal with those pesky Swarmers that like to sneak up on you. One touch and they pop. Useful when it comes to denying enemies access while the team is focusing on the main threats.
Been using the sludge pump since it came out, its just so much fun and can be disgustingly deadly and surprisingly efficient when used well. Dont play DRG consistently, but always glad to see sludge pump love
I feel like the sludge pump being the least popular driller primary is mainly because of it kind of clashing with the flamethrower in multiple ways getting similar results for more effort as well as it's main status effects being the weakest (by weakest I mean they're not particularly amazing at anything for example how frozen enemies take 3x damage from all sources or ignited robots instantly die) eg: if you want to slow an enemy down you can decide between either raw slowdown with the sludge pump by stacking status effects maybe even asking an enginner or scout to help by electrifying the bugs to slow them down even more or you could just go stickyflame flamethrower with fear chance to have the bugs run away almost passively since you only need to shoot at the ground infront of them every couple of seconds and of course with the cryo cannon you can just eradicate every bug in sight while also healing more health than a scout in a cave of nothing but red sugar
You're not alone! I've loved the Sludge Pump ever since I unlocked it. I build full debuff/DOT with it, stacking neurotoxin and radiation with the wave cooker. : p It's a fantastic build for dreadnoughts and bunkering.
I like Cryo the most because the various overclocks are fun but I think Sludge is my second favorite. I wish crispr had a napalm lob like the sludge pump that feared or something transformative.
tips for cottage cheese: get one with less water in it and mix it with sour cream and sugar bonus if you add some chocolate on top and let it still for a few hours (not nessesary but it'll become abit tastier) i've never tried cottage cheese on itself so i imagine it tasting horrible this way, but when combined with smth it starts to taste great
The cheese is supposed to be seasoned with garlic/salt/pepper and mixed with pickles and maybe some olives. Peppers are also a good choice. Its like those americans trying german "Quarck" (curd) for the first time, eating it completely pure, but it also has to be seasoned.
I will never eat cottage cheese again, but I genuinely appreciate the fact that I'm still getting cottage cheese advice. It's amazing how little overlap there's been. Everyone has their own technique and it's cracked me up to read them all!
I prefer Sludge pump over the flamethrower most of the time and a close second contender against the cryo cannon. Let's talk wave cooker. Love of my life right there. Can't stand the sabata and the EPC is nice but still gets shelved most of the time now
Sludge blast mainly just has insane burst damage. It absolutely melts any larger target, especially preatorians and dreadnoughts. I recommend taking charge efficiency rather than speed, because it also eats through your ammo quickly, and the fun fact is that taking blast fragment count or fragment damage results in the same total damage either way, but taking more fragments makes it a little better at dealing with crowds.
Since I unlocked the spicy shart shooter, I mean corrosive sludge pump, I've hardly used the crispr and cryo cannon. It controls space, erases swarms efficiently, and even deals with single targets well which actually frees up the grenade slot (though I still take the axes on principle).
Same. I used to use sticky fuel a lot in haz 5 missions, but I pretty much only use sludge pump now since it can feel a bit more dangerous getting up close with bugs in haz 5. The pump's main draw for me is its range. Plus, if you've ever played with really good teammates, they tend to delete everything from very far away, to a point where if you're using cyro cannon or flamethrower, you end up just running around trying to chase enemies (who die anyways at far range) and getting in the way of the team's sightline.
I have recently unlocked the true potential of the sludge pump. And I love it so much that I designed an entire driller fashion loadout based around it. I call him the stinky goo boy of grungleton.
As a Driller main, the Sluge Pump is the best weapon in Driller's arsenal. I still use the flamethrower and the cryo cannon more often, not because they're better, but because they use particle based attacks, which can fly through armor and onto the enemy's weakpoint.

Congrats, this is the video that got me into playing DRG. I'd never heard of the game before, but I saw the word 'corrosive sludge pump' in the title and clicked out of curiosity, saw you fire one charged shot from this thing and said "ok this game looks sick and this is my weapon."
Took a while to unlock it, but man, it has everything I want in a weapon in any game. Big AOE, big DoT, slow, tricky projectiles, interactions with fire for even more dots, sticky dot on direct shots, and it's a bigass sludge pump. As someone who always seeks out the gooiest and gassiest way to play any game I get my hands on, it just fits. Actually Driller as a whole was just made for me. I like every one of Driller's weapons aside from the pistol.
Hey, Drilly boi! Just wanted to throw my two cents on the Sludge Blast OC. It's mainly a thing to use in Dreadnaught missions when you wanna be able to do some burst damage as well as apply DOTs. Combining it with a CWC set to neurotoxin poisoned enemies and slow any enemy hit by it is a really fun combo, especially if you're running Born Ready to reload your "Shot Sludge" in the meantime. I really don't like using it for regular mobbing and generally use Disperser Compound when going into normal missions with it.
Personally, this Gold 2 Driller needs to experiment more with all the other OCs for it, but Sludge Blast does have a VERY important place in the Driller's Dreadnaught arsenal from everything I've seen and used.
Agreed. Sludge blast melts dread much more quickly than vim if most pellets hit, with similar, if not better, ammo efficiency. The DPS and total damage on Karl does not take charged shot into account
Yep, I've never killed a dreadnought faster than when I've used sludge blast.
I'd argue it's good in other missions too, granted you only use charged shots only on big targets. Collete to help with the CC, or Full Auto Sobata.
I'm also a huge fan of using it with gamma wave clear builds on CWC because it helps plug the gap sludge blast suffers in minion clearing while also offering irradiating damage on waves and dreads, though necrosis OC I would imagine works well too (I personally use necrosis with ice storm though so am unsure on viability of combo, needs more testing).
I've always been a fan of DOT in games so the sludge pump and new buff is great for me! Thanks for putting in so much effort for these videos. Its a nice way for me to relax watching these at the end of the day and I really appreciate it. Keep it up man!
Slugde blast is really good at erasing dreads since you don't have to bother with their armor much and can shoot them in the face.
Theorycrafting: Sludge Blast would be _great_ on Escort, because you can place large pools on the ceiling and walls.
I'll credit you with my taking the pump instead of the crisper more and more often recently. The firing in front of your feet was just a facepalm for me. Brilliant.
As a recent Sludge Pump Convert, I tried Sludge Blast on Dreads and found it pretty good, however I lost out on swarms so I’m gonna be taking VIM instead. A little less damage on Dreads is okay if I can get better against everything else. Also DoT stacking using the Colette is no joke, I’m able to bring Bulks to a standstill with Gamma Lens and Neurotoxin, and shred through 4 player Haz 5 swarms like butter
Try using sludge blast with a secondary that gives reliable aoe. Epc charge shot and Colette boiler ray are pretty good. He nade also lookin fine over there in the dumpster.
Disarming exploders has now been moved to the wave cooker. They don't detonate when you microwave them.
Huge fan of the dispersal DoT-based sludge pump; it does area control like nothing else, leaving you to move on to the next threat. Absolutely my favorite driller primary.

I really like Sludge pump. i use first build for slow, and second for corrosiv with micro second.
Every time I use the sludge 2 songs are playing in my head on repeat, “Toxic Wisdom” and “Return to Slime” by DM Dokuro, and it gets me pumped (pun fully intended) to use the weapon especially during solo deep and elite deep dives
New player here but I love the sludge pump. It's been an absolute blast to play.
Glad you're making content again! I think goo gun is the best primary on driller for many situations. Sludge Blast and VIM make it the #1 dread killer for Driller, and nothing is immune to corrosive damage. I personally prefer HI over Disperser Compound because the latter seems very overkill to me. HI provides a stronger slow AND more damage while maintaining a great cc. HI goo gun is my go to build for any EDD because it's good for everything. The enormous slow is good for dreads, aoe strong enough for swarmaggedon, and the frags are decent for mactera plague. I'm still a CRSPR supremacist, but the Mighty Poop Gun is a worthy challenger and perhaps equal.

I love running sludge pump with sludge blast OC (12212). I pair it with overcharged flying nightmare epc (21211) to compensate for sludge blast's weakness against crowds in a line. Build so good you don't even really need grenades, but they are nice for more aoe or single target damage.
I've seen sludge blast used fairly effectively against dreads. I tried it, while it wasn't bad I did run into ammo issues.
Sludge + Disperser compound is what I live by as driller. It's the perfect complement to the drillers other abilities, especially in defensive combat situation or in situations where you can drill out your own chokepoints. Shooting the ceiling medium sized doretta-sized tunnels is also excellent with disperser, since a couple of charged shots will completely coat the tunnel. And making narrow trenches and chokepoints for enemies to crawl through will just decimate incoming groups of grunts and swarmers.
Thanks for your entertaining take on making DRG videos. Ive recently switched to driller and fell in love with the cryo cannon. Guess i gotta give the cottage cheese pump a chance now.
My favorite thing about the sludge pump is that it's not as influenced by temperature differences in biomes such as glacial strata or magma core. Other things such as rival presence also influence me to pick one or the toger between the cryo cannon and the crispr, but the sludge pump works great in every situation

Sludge pump is my fave since it has been released - it's just so different, rewarding and a swiss army knife of utility that neither Frost nor Fire can compete.
I absolutely love the sludge pump weapon. It's my main weapon for Driler, especially against Dreadnoughts. Slowing the bugs down and watching them dissolve away is just oh so satisfying.
Alright slightly off topic the slow effect on the wave cooker is really good against dreads. Just click ever second and watch your team do all the work. Just one ammo per second really allows you to keep up a slow effect for almost 5 minutes if need be.
When I tried sludge pump after initially not liking i, I was pleasantly surprised at how fast it killed Dreadnauts. I used it more and now I like it almost as much as flamethrower.

Hey man. I can relate so much to your thoughts. I also love the Sludge Pump, and have come to the same conclusions as you. What I love about the Sludge Pump is the new DOT playstyle it brings to the Driller. Pairing it with Lingering Plasma and Gas Grenades has been great way to stack dots and a refreshing way to play. The Wave Cooker takes it one level higher since it has built-in gas cloud with the T5A mod, and another dot when using the Gamma Contamination OC. :)
Sludge blast pump is my go to choice when it cones to single target dps. So effective without worrying about weakpoint
Glad to see you gave AG mixture a try. I personally find it one of my favorite overclocks for the sludgy. Just a nice buff to your effective area and let's you get those pesky acid spitters on very high roofs easily when you don't got the space rig's microwave on ya. By far though my favorite part of driller is whenever I play him I really feel like I'm using my whole kit every mission. I can go whole missions as gunner and never use a zip line or shield. But driller, everything gets used either to dig or kill and sometimes both at the same time for efficiency. I love it
You didn't talk about the single biggest nerf it copped; they removed the T5 Upgrade: Ingredient X!
Ingredient X was an upgrade that dissolved armour at incredible speed & basically made it so that you & your teammates could annihilate most enemies - great or small - with half or even a third of the normal ammo expenditure. It also turned things like Glyphid Guards, Praetorians & Mactera Brundles from somewhat noteworthy encounters, into complete non-issues.
10/10 it was the single best upgrade in the entire game, it will be missed o7
VIM sludge pump has become my go-to for elite deep dives - it can do everything from swarm clear to dreadnaughts and I can’t think of any other driller build that is quite as versatile.
Yeah, VIM is so good... almost too good. I’m not saying that it should be nerfed, but I would 100% understand if it was.
Same! Grunts tend to get killed in a single shot from the CSP even with the corrosion DoT nerf, while still easily blasting through bigger targets and even holding its own against Rivals
been on the sludge life for most of the time i've been playing driller since gbs was one of my first overclocks. it's just mad fun, i don't really care how good my build is, though i'm quite happy with my current setup that's basically just maxing dot w/ the collette wave cooker's gamma emitter

At first I didn't like Sludge Pump at all, but gradually it became my favorite Driller's primary weapon before Season 02. And now that it got buffed - even better!
I use both single target and area denial builds. I usually pair my Sludge Pump with EPC capable for mining, although I really miss the ability to ignite the poo by myself.
Probably not the best primary for the Driller, but I find it fun and it suits me.
Well, the sludge pump has the highest learning curve of driller's primaries, since it requires a mix of cc tactics, direct damage, and last-hitting enemies with secondaries, axes, etc. to get the most out of it. By comparison, the freeze-and-shoot of the cryo is a bit easier to learn, and so is the sticky flames strategy.
And yet he tried to use Sludge Blast like the vanilla gun 😭
I recently picked up this game and unlocked the Sludge Pump, and i must say this weapon is so good! The slow + DoT combo and combining it with those microwave gun perk that gives corroded enemy poison really whittle the big bug's health down fast!

The Sludgy is so much better this season, I thought it was awful when it came out despite trying multiple builds for it, it came across as a worse sticky flame weapon. I'd say you're completely wrong about the sludge blast though, its my main OC for the weapon now and its extremely powerful. Besides being a one man dread deleting team, it has excellent single target and area damage and good range too. You don't use it to shotgun a guard at point blank (you can do that to prats and wardens though), instead, change position and aim for the centre of the pack like you'd do with any other charged shot. Once you get used to the aiming, its a total power house.
Also the cottage cheese bit had me in tears, i'm subscribing just for that, GG.
Sludge Blast FEELS much more damaging than the Karl website suggests- it really chunks dmg out of high priority targets (Dreads, Bet-C).
I like full charge shot & DOT dmg combo, with Slow & Neurotoxin (& Rad) on the Wave Cooker- this makes me feel extremely useful and flexible in Dread fights. Direct dmg, DOTs all day, crazy slows, ease of shooting, etc. Doesn't feel as good for crowds tho, like you said.
My man, coming from the Midwest I can tell you Cottage Cheese gets a bad rap. It's great imo, BUT it suffers greatly from presentation and "mental buildup" when trying it. Combining this with people always casually using "cottage cheese" as a descriptor in science or the medical field, it really ruins the food imo lol.
Cottage Cheese is exactly the reason I try my best to NEVER use any food as a descriptor for medical issues lol.

It’s because Sludge Blast makes it dramatically easier to land every fragment on your target. With normal charged shots, the fragments spread out radially from the point of impact, so you’ll almost always miss a few.

It not only feel, but is. T4:B reduces charge time to .4 seconds, and at 288 damage per shot the theoretical max is 720 DPS which is absolutely insane.
You do end up losing a lot of DPS due the the charge, then click release mechanics unless you use a macro. 500-600 dps is quite doable by hand, 500 is easy without even trying very hard.
The Pump is my favorite driller primary . I even found a cool modified bunker strategy . i call it the "Eggplant bunker" . where you drill downward . put a c4. then make an upward spiral staircase .
also a reversed T to the wall is good way to make normal waves easy .
Sludge is my main choice for fighting dreads. I can blast them once from any direction, get to a safe distance, and wait for the DoT to do its thing. Even better with wave cooker for extra dots.
I'm a new miner, silver two driller main. And I have no overclocks on the sludge pump and run some general build I got from ReepeeRon and it absolutely cheeses Haz 4 and 5 with the wave cooker. I initially thought it was just an ordinary poop cannon but it absolutely destroys and makes everything so much manageable. It's so ammo efficient as well. 4 ammo for a charged short to kill an entire group of grunts and slashers
The continuous heat spread from new sludge puddles is such a cool feature, basically makes it a napalm launcher,. Coolest devs I have seen

I honestly can't change out of Sludge Pump + Wave Cooker ever since I started using them, even before the recent buffs. With all the DOT bonuses from the Sludge Pump & Wave Cooker using Gamma Contamination and with two sources of slowdown effects, I'm perfectly able to deal both with crowds and large targets. Even against bosses I'm able to deal good damage. And when I need that extra single target oomph, I have my axes. I might need to do a re-take on my Sludge Pump OCs though.

The build I like most with Sludge Pump: Volatile Impacts 11222 Makes the single fire slow kill basic grunts (For easy vampire targets), or the Charge Shot instant kills Slashers and gets armor grunts down to two pickaxe swings.
I love all three Driller weapons. The Sludge Pump is so fun to pay around and melt bugs with.

The only thing I don't love about the sludge pump is the fact that it has a gloriously hefty frame but a comically minuscule nozzle.
An alternative for the plasma burn epc pair for sludge:
A 23111 gamma contamination cooker trades plasma and fire DoT for neurotoxin and radiation, while trading some ammo (and possibly dps? haven't crunched the numbers) for superior slowdown and instant long-range effectiveness. This particular build was effective enough to pull me out of TCF abuse, although I still swap back and forth pretty often :)
I've been using the sludge pump since your last video. Love it.
Few drillers may like the sludge pump, but I have loved it since getting it. One, I don't have to take friendly fire to reduce my attacks when allies are around. They'll need a bath later, but it can help to slow them down. I will miss melting detonators, but at least they can be frozen and killed still. Two, I've viewed the driller as more support than clearer. Digging escape tunnels, or hide tunnels when facing bigger baddies, is useful. Especially if you have time to set up. Even my C4 doesn't pack a punch. It is more designed for bigger holes when tunnels need a wider area. Still go with the running drills over the damaging ones cause it just feels off when trying to hurry a tunnel to the drop pod for the team. And three, the sludge can deal with those pesky Swarmers that like to sneak up on you. One touch and they pop. Useful when it comes to denying enemies access while the team is focusing on the main threats.
Been using the sludge pump since it came out, its just so much fun and can be disgustingly deadly and surprisingly efficient when used well. Dont play DRG consistently, but always glad to see sludge pump love
I feel like the sludge pump being the least popular driller primary is mainly because of it kind of clashing with the flamethrower in multiple ways getting similar results for more effort as well as it's main status effects being the weakest (by weakest I mean they're not particularly amazing at anything for example how frozen enemies take 3x damage from all sources or ignited robots instantly die)
eg: if you want to slow an enemy down you can decide between either
raw slowdown with the sludge pump by stacking status effects maybe even asking an enginner or scout to help by electrifying the bugs to slow them down even more
or you could just go stickyflame flamethrower with fear chance to have the bugs run away almost passively since you only need to shoot at the ground infront of them every couple of seconds
and of course with the cryo cannon you can just eradicate every bug in sight while also healing more health than a scout in a cave of nothing but red sugar
You're not alone! I've loved the Sludge Pump ever since I unlocked it. I build full debuff/DOT with it, stacking neurotoxin and radiation with the wave cooker. : p It's a fantastic build for dreadnoughts and bunkering.

I like Cryo the most because the various overclocks are fun but I think Sludge is my second favorite. I wish crispr had a napalm lob like the sludge pump that feared or something transformative.
tips for cottage cheese: get one with less water in it and mix it with sour cream and sugar
bonus if you add some chocolate on top and let it still for a few hours (not nessesary but it'll become abit tastier)
i've never tried cottage cheese on itself so i imagine it tasting horrible this way, but when combined with smth it starts to taste great

The cheese is supposed to be seasoned with garlic/salt/pepper and mixed with pickles and maybe some olives. Peppers are also a good choice. Its like those americans trying german "Quarck" (curd) for the first time, eating it completely pure, but it also has to be seasoned.
I will never eat cottage cheese again, but I genuinely appreciate the fact that I'm still getting cottage cheese advice. It's amazing how little overlap there's been. Everyone has their own technique and it's cracked me up to read them all!
I prefer Sludge pump over the flamethrower most of the time and a close second contender against the cryo cannon. Let's talk wave cooker. Love of my life right there. Can't stand the sabata and the EPC is nice but still gets shelved most of the time now

Sludge blast mainly just has insane burst damage. It absolutely melts any larger target, especially preatorians and dreadnoughts. I recommend taking charge efficiency rather than speed, because it also eats through your ammo quickly, and the fun fact is that taking blast fragment count or fragment damage results in the same total damage either way, but taking more fragments makes it a little better at dealing with crowds.

Since I unlocked the spicy shart shooter, I mean corrosive sludge pump, I've hardly used the crispr and cryo cannon. It controls space, erases swarms efficiently, and even deals with single targets well which actually frees up the grenade slot (though I still take the axes on principle).

Same. I used to use sticky fuel a lot in haz 5 missions, but I pretty much only use sludge pump now since it can feel a bit more dangerous getting up close with bugs in haz 5. The pump's main draw for me is its range.
Plus, if you've ever played with really good teammates, they tend to delete everything from very far away, to a point where if you're using cyro cannon or flamethrower, you end up just running around trying to chase enemies (who die anyways at far range) and getting in the way of the team's sightline.

As a Driller main, the Sluge Pump is the best weapon in Driller's arsenal. I still use the flamethrower and the cryo cannon more often, not because they're better, but because they use particle based attacks, which can fly through armor and onto the enemy's weakpoint.
