There’s a good mix of inclines, declines and relatively flat sections. Frankly, the biggest climb that you have as you head west on hermit Road is from the bright Angel Trail head for about the first half a mile. After that initial climb, it’s fairly smooth sailing to the extent that you hardly have to switch gears on your bike.
How strenuous is the bike ride? Is there a lot of elevation change? I’m wondering how difficult it might be for someone who is not in tiptop shape? Thanks
The first mile from Bright Angel Trailhead toward the west is the steepest incline, but not bad if you have a bike with gears. Everything besides that is easy going.
