- This video was hard in so many ways, it begins with Jeff resigning from the Fire Department and ends with the trip we have been planning for more than two years. Will the bus make it up the hill? Will it fit under the Pole barn? Find out in this video. The Skoolie has not moved in two years, so a lot of checks were performed prior to it's 500 mile trip, Amy and I drove to Kennewick Washington as our halfway point where we got three hours of sleep before we drove the rest of the way to our homestead in Sandpoint Idaho. We are finally living on our homestead full-time.
Watch a Firefighter and a stay at home Mom carve out an Off Grid Homestead in the North Idaho Wilderness. Come along on our journey towards freedom and independence not just for us but many Generations to come, all to the glory of God.

I had just started watching this video and right away I knew something was different with this amazing couple. I had a feeling I knew what was but I wanted to be sure so I stopped watching this video halfway through and went back to the beginning and over the past five evenings, I've watched every one of them. That being said I was right, Jesus is at the core of what they are doing and they are not afraid to admit it. As a pastor and homesteader, I want to say thank you to Jeff and Amy. Not just for the videos of your journey and the things we glean from it but more for the testimony of your faith that shines through in the way you treat each other and the joy of Christ that radiates through you. Thank You Jeff for your years of serving your community with the fire company and may God richly bless your family, even more than He has, for your leadership as a dad.
Wow, that compliment was so humbling to read, we are thankful that our love for the Lord shows through. None of this would be possible without him. Such a wonderful comment we don't know what else to say but Thank you.
Wow! That one made me cry. I remember your 1st day as a Firefighter, fulfilling your longtime dream and now you are in Idaho living your new dream. I also remember you both telling us that you were moving to Idaho and watching the dream come to fruition has been an adventure to behold. Can't wait to see the rest. Love you, Mom
That video was a hard one to make. It is crazy to see one dream end and another begin. I know the Lord has it all in his hand and we can only take this next step because he has given us the courage and grace to do it. We love you too 🥰
As the daughter of a fire fighter and a wife of a retired fire fighter...I know that was hard, but oh my goodness the future is beautiful. Welcome to Idaho!!! It is a beautiful place to live. We live down south in Eagle....a little town north west of Boise. My brother lives in Priest River. Maybe we will meet someday.
It's nice to hear from someone who understands what Jeff is going through. Thanks for the welcome we are so happy to be here.
Congratulations. Give yourself time to adjust. It'll take a few weeks. Luckily you have plenty to occupy yourself with. Best wishes!!!
Thank you, It is a huge adjustment, you are right that we have plenty to do.
I quit last Aug, still had to build everything but yeah not working, and being able to live like this, bliss. I bet you both love it already.
We do love the freedom this life brings
I just discovered your channel and anxious to watch previous videos! I knew within the first few seconds that I’d subscribe - the music is wonderful and easy to listen to. Wishing you luck from Texas
15 years of putting out other people's fires, and now you get to put out your own fires, like moose getting into the garden, or figuring out why the septic isn't draining. You will have more work now, but it's directly for the family. 😇
Firefighting was very rewarding but this is so much more to know we are building something that will last generations.
I know how you fill as I myself was a fire fighter. Also, the grieving does get better in time. I do miss it, but it's time to move on, I guess, to better things.thanks for your service .😊
Thanks, and Thank you for your service as well.
Noticed the Tualatin Valley on the truck. Born and raised Washington. County 47 years moved to N. Idaho to homestead. Welcome
Thanks for the welcome
Welcome to your new home. It took years of planning and wondering when you would be able to leave your job. Rather than driving the fire truck, you have something similar in the bus, just without fire hoses. It's a good time to prepare for winter in Idaho, and adjust to a very different pace.
it will take some adjustment but we have plenty to keep us busy
Subscribed today looking forward to your adventure in off grid living. God Bless ❤
Thank you
