Airbrushing does give a great finish when done right. The thing that takes the most time fir me though is getting the thinning ratio right and then putting the paint in the cup without spilling. Really a pain transferring from a jar. What I'm planning on doing is get a lot of dropper bottles and then pre thin some paint an put into the bottles. Can then just drop the paint straight into the cup and don't have to mix every time.
Dropper bottles are amazing. I've got them with other brands of paint, but only had the Tamiya gloss blue available for this build. The ratios are certainly the skill I am hoping to get the hang of with practice
Adam - be wary of pre-thinning paints to airbrush; they usually don't store for long periods of time. Not sure what type of paint you use; enamels, you may get away with it for a few days; acrylics - I don't know about them, but not sure it would be much better, maybe worse. Definitely don't plan on storing for months. They tend to separate and won't mix back together or dry out really bad. Naturally, some others may have had different results. Been airbrushing close to 50 years; I don't take chances, just thin and use as you need. There's no sense in risking screwing up your model at this point in the build.
Got the same kit but i added airwaves etched cockpit and scratched built the missing details in the wheel bays as well as rescribing. Your correct in saying its a nice model for its age. Congrats on the airbrush job, looks nice.
I enjoy your vids. I'm the typical old man starting off again modeler. My first step was to buy an airbrush and many of the tools that everybody recommends. I'm on my 5th 1/72 airplane build and they all belong in a museum. A museum of shitty models. How many kits did any of you build before you started being happy with your results?
It's a great hobby to return to in my opinion. I am usually happy with my builds until a couple of kits down the line I make something much better! The experience of building is the best but for me so I don't mind if an older model isn't as good
Neat job for a first time airbrushed kit. Let this aircraft not fly into combat because the pilot won't be able to eject if the need arises. Sticky bottoms you see 😅.

Very nice job Captain, well done!
Very nice build. You did great with the airbrush.
Excellent result, you're obviously a natural. Nothing wrong with an old tool, I get called it all the time.
Than you.
Spoilers - the next airbrushed kit looks better!
Mos will approve of this model lol
bearcat looks amazing! i have been considering trying an airbrush on my builds. great video!

Welcome to the darkside, Captain. Excellent job.
Nice enjoyable video. More please
So you've joined the airbrush, and Mos creaming his pants clubs...
For punishment, you should build an even bigger collection of Tiger Moths
Will do!
Good video thanks lee
There is room in modelling for both brush and airbrush.. as always nice finish i do like planes on stands.. 👍👍👍
I like how your paint brushes look all nice, where as mine - no matter where they go, are chewed by my cat. 🐈⬛🐈⬛
The simple trick here is to hide everything in drawers.
Or have an old, decrepit cat...
Hey Cap, good effort, what was your paint mixture, I use 50/50 for Tamiya, airbrushing is a skill, cheers Liam
I think it was about 60% paint

Did you have to thin the Hataka 34151 when you brush painted the cockpit, or is it good to go right out of the bottle?
It is fine out of the bottle. Can be thinned if you prefer but I like it as is
Well done for being open minded and trying an airbrush. Great job of a cherry popper.
