Max, don't ever think that your videos are underrated....not at all, you can make a 10 hour video, and every minute would be supreme, my friend!
Should ABSOLUTELY try a live stream sometime!!
Max is supreme, a real go getter, a master.
Amen! ❤ 👏👏👏👍👍👍
What is interesting is how ALL things evolve. For instance my people are from remote place in Canada. Similar climate to what you have. What is interesting is that many of the solutions that you use are variations of solutions people use globally.
The boat that you built takes design-of a boat from a remote place in Namibia ?, or similar remote place. Those boats are similar,(but different, lol), that boats the native people of northern Canada have been building since time for humans began! They evolution is interesting because it is an inside look at how human thinking works.
100% would watch it.
Good to see you posting again, Max. These are strange times we live in, I'm glad to see you're doing well. I hope to see many more of your sommer projects 😊

I don’t understand why you don’t have a sponsor yet you look like you have enough subscribers to get one and you’ll get money off of it.
Have a great video ❤❤❤❤❤
"Friends, don't repeat my mistakes" is one of my favorite quotes. Dont worry about that Max, I think I need a few lifetimes of engineering and woodworking before I can make any of the same 'mistakes' you make. Legend...
As a retired Carpenter I can really enjoy these videos. Thank you. You are very talented.
I am as well, 40 years in the Trade and our mutual friend Advoko's channel is a pleasure
The same. Having worked with wood and angles and curves and shaping and fitting and, and, and, you can really appreciate the effort put in, to make this boat. Well done!

Advoko, do not ever question the quality of your videos, yours are among the best on TH-cam, and the number of subscribers you have gathered are proof of that accomplishment. This video was excellent, your workmanship, commentary, and improvised solutions to problems are second to none. I'm an old man, and I admire your ethics, stamina, and ingenuity. Blessings from Montana USA.
Thank you for all your compliments!
You, sir, are the most innovative, creative, intelligent, and hard-working human being I've ever encountered. To be able to make a great video is wonderful. To be able to plan and execute such a complicated task in such a primitive environment BY YOURSELF is beyond belief. The fact that one man can do both, and present this project to the world in such an interesting and informative fashion defines you as completely unique. Thank you for everything you do to bring us your treasure!
Thank you for your kind words!
@Advoko
Are you familiar with Windsor chairs? They are beautiful and strong. I recommend Curtis Buchanan's channel over other Windsor chair channels for the level of instruction.
However, he uses conical tennons for legs into the seat. I recommend cylindrical. Conical makes it easier to correct the angle as the hole is being reamed but makes a connection that loosens.
the hardest part is finding that primitive environment where you can do that without being arrested by the npc agents of governments
Max, don't ever think your videos are a waste of time. What you create always seems wonderful.
Thank you, your videos always bring peace, relaxation, and inspiration! 👏👏👏
The undisputed genius of the woods and bushcraft. This is completely at a higher level than any other outdoorsman's channel.
Hats off! You tell the story with the same mastery as you build things, with just enough of the soft Russian accent to make it a perfect de-stress from a hectic day in the city.
Another great video! Im a wooden boat builder for my day job, a couple tricks I use that might help you: kerfing is a way to joint boards together with a saw, rather than a plane. You gently clamp boards edges together, then saw down the uneven gap between them, it only removes wood where the boards touch, allowing you to then push the boards closer together, and you can repeat several times if needed to get a perfectly fitted joint, and can be done when you are too exhausted to do a nice job with a jointing plane. The other tip is if you tip your plane slightly on the return stroke, your plane blade will stay sharp much longer. There is an ancient recipe for a boat finish called "boat soap" or "boat sauce" it is just pine tar, bees wax, and linseed oil. You heat it in a can inside of a pot of boiling water, you rub it on hot, let it dry for a bit, and it will seem like a sticky mess, but you polish it with a dry rag, and it brings the wax to the surface, leaving a nice surface that is as pretty as varnish, but it wont crack wnd trap water underneath, causing rot like varnish, and the pine tar is very rot preventative. If you are building a wood boat in the woods, instead of in a fancy shop with a steam box, and you worry your boards will crack when you bend them, you can pour boiling water on the most extreme bend and it will help a lot.
Thanks again for making so many great videos, i like doing similar projects, and i am disabled with MS, so sometimes i feel too sick to do much, and its fun to watch someone else's projects on those days.
Thank you for the info!
Hell, that was a bunch of useful info for the rest of us as well, thanks man, that was some excellent information.
What a peaceful pleasure it is to watch you build. A masterclass for some, but inspiration for all to reach higher at whatever they do. Thank you kind sir. Enjoy your summer!

You are very knowledgeable and this was very interesting to watch. Thank you
From a fellow woodworker in North America, the video was wonderful, enthralling, just amazing. I can not believe what you are doing with so little tools. In North America, at our latitude, we have such a different type of forest with a mixture of just a few softwoods, but many many hardwoods. I think that we have 200 different oak species alone. We have a southern yellow pine that sometimes will become wind blown and lay on the forest floor for years with a preserved heart wood, but typically the available useful wood - even thought the tree in total might be 2 feet or more in diameter, the unrotted heart wood would be very small but thick with preserved sap and extremely aromatic- and combustible. In this sad time , I wish that we all were building beautiful boats in a peaceful spot in a beautiful locale as you are. Thank you for sharing this wonderful story.

Excellent video, my friend. Also shows many of us new techniques to use if we ever need to work off grid. Dude, You Rock! Absolute craftmanship mixed with ingenuity. It simply does not get any better.
Glad you are back and safe. I was afraid you had to enlist. Thank God!
Soaking the dowels in water for 12-24 hours works great.
If you take them straight from soaking in water they have expanded and after you pound them into the holes they will hold very tight and strong.
You could also make pine tar by rendering and or do both, soak in water and use tree resin.
You can steam boards to bend then better.
wow, thanks. nice to see you after a long break :)

It's been some time since I've enjoyed one of your videos, to see how you adapt a traditional African boat, using native European wood has been more than
educational.
Your self taught wood working techniques certainly get results. I'm addicted to a world wide phenomenon television series called Alone where contestants are sent into the wilderness with 10 items for survival and the last remaining wins. Only 3 have made boats, which helped them to harvest fish.
You would do well at this. Keep up the good work.

"Sitting on a warm rock, near the largest lake in Europe, listening to the splash of the surf, looking at the product of my efforts. It's almost insane to wish for anything else. If I were to describe this moment in one word; then I would chose the word 'appeasement'."
Again, thank you for this video! I loved it.
This guy is something else. I just wish I had half his skills.
Really happy to have you back 👍
If you want to protect the wooden bottom from the rocks, consider some HDPE (cutting board) plastic strips 👍
Wow! I never knew there were so many variables/things to consider when making a boat. I really enjoyed all of this content.

Ive watched this twice now and am inspired to make my own Pirogue here in Ontario, Canada
You gave me an hour of absolute peace and serenity. What price can one put on that. I admire your skills, patience, stamina and attention to detail. You delivered your journey in so gentle and unassuming manner that it provided the illusion of ease in fabrication of your product. I wish you well in all your endeavors. -- Steve McKinstry -- MSgt of Marines, Retired
Steven, thank you for your kind words!
Great video Max! Good to hear from you again. I've built a couple of smallcraft over the years, and yours looks pretty darn good. Being an old sailor I can tell you, maintainence is even more work than building. But you probably knew that already. Already looking forward to your next video.
Hi Nik, good to hear from an old friend! ))
So excited for this video! Happy to see you post again. You were the one who inspired me to learn hand tool wood working and bushcraft.
