    I'm not a bricklayer but I find your stuff fascinating to watch. It's not just brick laying it's engineering, done with planning forethought and exprience. Judging by the comments there are a lot of bricklayers watching your video's. I would have thought a brickie would have had enough of looking at bricks by the end of the day and wouldn't be watching it on TH-cam when he gets home. That in itself is a compliment to your craftsmanship. Well done Steve & Alex.

    Excellent video Steve . You can modify the p&d method to suit your own circumstances . The main savings time wise is in the bedding out all that over done fiddling and furrowing taking bits off throwing them back on is cut out . As you did in the video . Pick up a brick ,perp it if you want to quick scoop of mortar, quick furrow if you want to ,lay it ,cut off your excess use that to perp the next brick and off you go again . 👍

    Top job, and with scaffolding in the way etc. Liked the temporary support on the lintel. Interested in the block choice on the gables. Seemed to be 3.5s on the external gables and 7s on the party wall gable (no brick outer there though) unless I'm confused and got it the wrong way round. Special request: Can we have slo-mo on the pick and dip on the next one. Are you using the small trowel for that? Mortar I guess has to be just right for pick and dip to work, and not sure on a site like this how much control you get on that. Look forward to next one.

    • @SteveAndAlexBuild
      @SteveAndAlexBuild  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers John . I’ve always seen 7 n concretes used on party walls , I suspect it’s to do with sound insulation ?

Your work is so good though I'd happily pay you not to pick and dip for the quality. • @andrewpalij4691
      @andrewpalij4691 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Take it slowly until you perfect it, less muck people put to much down for one brick and then chuck a load back on the board.The Dutch rake all their work and it's pointed later so it dosent have to be flush unlike here where we don't want holes as we need to joint it up ,the bit I cut of the brick I have just layed I just clip on the face perp of the next brick as I pick it up,takes no time, then just enough muck to lay the brick and pull the joint on and enough excess to clip the next brick,no point in slapping a load off bricks down if it takes twice as long to joint up. Personally I don't think our trowels and spot boards are suited to P&D and if I have to I only use a 8inch trowel if I'm on my own work i use tubs and a Dutch trowe if I'm going to P&D.

    • @brickbybric
      @brickbybric 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andrewpalij4691 yes it’s an even better method when you do it with trowels and tubs that the Dutch use. This video from Sweden I think shows the apprentice bricklayer clipping on a perp on the face side of the brick and then pushing the brick through the bed to form his full joint.th-cam.com/video/-Ag5d-TLIoE/w-d-xo.html
