Billy from Ireland here. This is great content guys. The bridges, barns, stores and villages look just as I imagine rural America to be. Music makers and good food is so relatable. If ever I go to the States this is where I'd want to be.Thanks for taking me on your trip.
@billyo54. Always good to hear from you Billy! Thanks for your comment 😀👍. We were hoping some our viewers from Ireland would watch this video. Your comment reminded us of why we feel so comfortable in Ireland 😀. As always, thanks for watching!
My girlfriend lives in Brazil, Indiana and during Covid, we decided to go out and find as many covered bridges in Parke County as we could. Of course, you can't hit all 31 bridges in the samw day, so each trip to Brazil, we would take a day drive and hit 3-5 bridges each time during weekdays when no one else was around. Four years later we have been to every bridge, at least twice and extended our journeys to the connecting counties for about 50 bridges overall. Combined with trips to Ohio, Kentucky and Illinois, we are at 87 bridges so far. I used a lot of my thousands of photos to make calenders, etc. Not only the bridges, but you can find history around every bridge to photograph as well. Absolutely loved doing those drives.
@rickh8993. That was a great idea you had to find something to do during Covid ! I’ve read that Putnam and Vermilion counties have several bridges as well. I grew up in Shelby County and I don’t think there are any bridges left. But, Rush County has several. Lawrence, Jackson and Jennings counties have some historic bridges as well. You might have seen many of those on a drive to Ohio. You’re right, so many backstories behind many of the bridges. Too bad many of them have disappeared over the years. Is there anyplace or site to see your calendars? We both grew up driving small country roads and it’s the best 😀 All the best on adding to your current total. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I'm a lifelong resident of one of the nearby towns - Clinton Indiana and even at 66 years old, the Covered Bridge Festival still remains one of my favorite Fall activities to attend. I was out at Bridgeton on July 9th 2024 and had my drone with me was able to get some footage and made this short video of the Bridgeton Mill and the Covered Bridge. My goal is to continue to get out and do more like this of the other 30 Covered Bridges in Parke County. I really enjoyed watching this informative video! ❤ th-cam.com/video/dneNsSC7OHk/w-d-xo.html
Thanks so much for your kind comments! Loved your drone video! We've thought of getting a drone, but since Karen is still working it would be a stretch to fit the learning curve in right now (but that hasn't stopped her from looking at the DJI's in the Costco ads!)😄 For now, we're looking at a subscription service for drone footage of Ireland to use as B roll for our upcoming trip back to Ireland in September. We subscribed to your channel as well! Best of luck to you!
@@thissecondhalfadventure Well THANK YOU! for YOUR kind words! AND for subscribing... Trust me when I say this.. you mentioned the learning curve..my wife got me this Dji Mini 4K Drone a month ago..I'd never flown a Drone before! And I'd never had a TH-cam channel until after getting this Drone! And I've certainly never did any editing.. so if this 66 year old could do this in a month of learning, so could you and the Mrs. And this is NOT a expensive Drone ($299), still a lot, but not as much as many of them sell for and it pretty much flies itself! I use a free editing program called Capcut.. it's pretty easy to learn as well! Good luck to you both! Looking forward to watching more of your amazing videos! ❤️
We've been using iMovie since we started but are transitioning over to Capcut soon. We're curious about your use of the John Denver song given the copyright - or were you able to buy rights through a subscription service? We use Epidemic Sound, because we were concerned about the possibilities of complications...
Thank you for the info. We were looking to take our kids for Fall break from OK. we don't really have huge fall festivals. Is there something kids would enjoy?
Amanda, thanks so much for watching and commenting! You didn’t mention your kids’ ages, but there are 3 state park properties in the immediate area, with Turkey run my favorite. It has an inn and cabins with access to an indoor pool and an arcade downstairs ; also the park has hiking, canoeing and kayaking as well as ranger-led activities (those should be posted at end of month for the following month). There’s also Ditzler’s Orchard near Rockville; Montezuma has tractor-pulled wagon tours of Wabash & Erie Canal, and a place that serves 32 flavors of soft serve ice cream! Hobson’s Farm outside of Rockville on Strawberry Road has a petting zoo with both farm and exotic animals, and if you don’t mind driving 35 mins or so to Terre Haute, (pronounced Terra-Hote) we hear there’s a nice children’s museum there. Let us know if you go what you think of the fest. Have fun and safe travels!😊♥️
Shades State Park and Raccoon Lake State Recreation Area (now called Cecil Harden Lake) ; also Lieber State Recreation Area is about and hour from Rockville; Chris noted that this is just off of I-70, so it might make for a quick getaway when you leave to go home...

Good stuff. Buried Beef sounds both delicious and mildly erotic lol
@unclepick3459 It’s hot stuff alright…🙄😂
