  • Melissa took a ride to the covered bridge capital of the world-- Parke County Indiana. How many bridges did she get to see? And why does it say "cross at a walk" on all those bridges? Those are questions that came up as she rode the beautiful SR 234, 41, and 341 in Fountain and Parke Counties in Indiana to see some awesome covered bridges when she visited Melinda in July 2023.

    Small world. I've watched your videos before but did not realize you were from west central Indiana. Like you, I left Indiana long ago but return frequently - sometimes on my motorcycle. Aside from visiting relatives I spend my time there visiting graves of my ancestors in Clay, Putnam, and Vigo counties. Rockville is on my list of destinations. One of my great grandmothers died at a sanitarium there in 1901 during a tuberculosis epidemic. Joseph J. Daniels is buried in the Rockville cemetery. You or your sister might want to pay him a visit and thank him for his life's work.

      Yes, my mom is from West Lebanon and we lived there until we were 8 years old. Live across state line in Illinois until we were 18 and moved away, but my parents remained in the area. Small world indeed. That is interesting about the burial place of JJ Daniels. I will have to find the grave site when I go back. Thanks for sharing and safe riding out there.

    I've been to the covered bridge festival several times but....... have never seen a covered bridge. It would make for a nice motorcycle ride though. A full day's experience beginning and endling in Evansville. Oh yes, I recognized the "Twin Bridges" between Evansville and Henderson in the opening... Get that light checked out!

    • @MidLifeStyleTwins
      @MidLifeStyleTwins  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did get the light checked out... albeit just a week ago when Harley was finally able to fit me into their schedule. The light never came back on and I finished that trip and just got back from another 4100 mile roadtrip. Their diagnostic came up with nothing and she has been running fine.

    My wife and I live in Southern Illinois. We love taking trips over to Indiana. We do it on our Indian motorcycle....heck it's in the States name...lol
    I think we have visited around 28 covered bridges in Parke County. Our latest adventure had us ride Hwy 50 across the State. What beautiful countryside. Keep the vids coming. We're always looking for new rides in our neighboring State.

    Melissa! Great video. It is unfortunate that Melinda could not go. 😔 Everybody has personal parameters.
    Maybe next time. 😬 The bridges were outstanding. There is a bridge near me, about the turn of the 20th century.
    It is very rural and is about 4 to 5 car lengths. One lane, no railings. Back in the old moon shining days there was
    some trouble and someone got killed, including babies. It's called cry baby bridge. At night, if you stop in the
    middle of the bridge, turn off your lights and motor and listen for a crying baby. If you hear one your car
    won't start and you are in deep trouble. 😲 Mommy! Umm, I had a flashback. 😲 Sorry. 😬
    .......................... 😎👍👍

      Thank you so much! I have 14 inch bars (not sure of name). They are definitely better than stock. I do not like stock handle bars because I feel it in the shoulders with them. I had 12 inch bars on my last motorcycle. 12-14 seems to be the best height for me and I am 5'6" tall.
