I'm Thai and it is ok to speak the truth that Isan has less interesting places to visit. Isan was the dry plateau in the past. It was called Thung Kula Ronghai (fields of the crying Kula), Legend has it that the Kula, from Mottama, Myanmar, traveled through this plateau. The Kula were known for their endurance and toughness. They spent several days traveling the region without passing any villages or finding water. The surroundings had no trees to provide shade. It was only arid land.

    • @Ajhmee
      @Ajhmee 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@Snow prince Yes but, only in the small area in the south of Isan. But the most part of isan used to be very dry area that was really hard to grow anything.

Elephants are considered important animals, acting as a vehicle for the King in fighting wars. and play a role in the way of life bonded with Thai people since ancient times The elephant symbol has appeared as "White Elephant Flag"
Elephants in Thailand are divided into two types: wild elephants and domesticated elephants. Domestic elephants are elephants that the villagers inherited from their ancestors. In the past, Thai people used to do agriculture as their main occupation. Villagers would go into the forest to bring elephants as animals for use, such as plowing fields and hauling trees. when elephants have offspring The mahout must be treated like a member of his family.
Of course, we cannot hope that every elephant will be fully cared for. And most importantly, They have lost their instinct and unable to survive in the forest. They are familiar with people ,usually eat a lot and powerful so they release his energy by using force or running , otherwise they would get sick and irritable. Sometimes it's hard to differentiate between abuse or exercise. So perhaps mahouts having to sell elephants to The Elephant Sanctuary to make them continue to earn money and some elephants are nurtured as could as mahouts get. It's a chronic problem. In recent years, part of the industry has shifted to sanctuaries that place elephants in more natural environments-a response to rising demand for humane experiences as awareness grows of harsh training methods and substandard treatment of elephants at many traditional camps. I'm a Thai person who feels uncomfortable and wants to push this issue to be resolved sustainably.

Point well taken. I hate what the poachers have done in Africa. Protect Elephants at all cost, but you need to remember they are just like us, emotionally and spiritually. I use to know Richard Leakey. I use to love Africa. I ate shit there. Little by little you loose who you are.

Great to hear you talk about our relationship with elephants, it doesn't take long if you stay in Thailand to see behind the elephants facade. And the travel bit I'm happy to just keep to Mae Sai, loving your travels but after 10 years plus I still discover lots of new adventures in the area. Have a merry Christmas and a fantastic new year.

this is my thoughts... I think you put too much of pressure on yourself with this title "Travelling 77 Provinces of Thailand". This created an enormous expectations on you by your viewers. This pressure will be even more so in later half of your journey . For me, your wellbeing is all that matters ... take care of that first!!! As for Animals, i am completely aligned with you... I don't feel good where we use animal just to make a quick living.... Make no mistakes...i do believe people live with Elephants .... and respect them... like a 2 way relationship. and this relationship is personal.

I loved your long conversation in the noisy restaurant and by the side of the road, Paddy. Most people couldn't hold my interest just sitting there like that, but your personality is very personable, engaging and intimate, even on TH-cam. You've got the "it factor" that makes people interested in listening to you.

I don't disagree with your feelings regarding the Elephants, especially for the tourist thing. Working elephants??? The history of people using elephants in Thailand /Siam is really interesting, if not always great for the elephants. Take your time traveling the rest of the provinces and make sure that you enjoy them as much as you can. Enjoy Christmas and Bangkok..

Enjoy the holidays mate and thanks for enlightening these dark days with your honest vlogs...
I'm flying off to Panama in a few days, gotta "budgeteer" for a while but feel the need to escape Europe and taking back control of my life !
I understand you deciding to stay in Thailand, unfortunately for me, knowing Thailand very well I can not (visa wisely) get back.
It's therefor so great seeing you doin' what I did passing through many of the provinces I drove through on my (sorry) kawasaaakiii.
It was the best time of my 53 years of excistance....
Buckling up for the next adventure, don't stay safe, stay saine mate.
With the risk of sounding "creepy", love you mate....thnx for inspiring me and to give me the courage to do, and take back control....bless ya and happy holidays 😉

Although it was incredible I had a 30 days so needed to buy a bike, sell a bike and ride the whole thing in between! Your completely correct in thinking people are enjoying the journey you are presenting rather than a travel guide for each province. 17 years ago when I first came to Thailand I saw an elephant dancing in the morning mist, very slowly. I remarked to my girlfriend how beautiful it was. She said they danced like that when they're sad. It was a working elephant, dancing through its sadness, before its daily chores.

In the West we treat horses the same. We race them, train them, ride them, etc etc, it's not really that different, just that we see Elephants differently. I'm sure the elephants are just as well looked after and loved as peoples horses. But of course everywhere in the world there are those people who will mistreat these great animals. Hope you have a good Christmas and get to clear your head soon :)

It's Christmas Paddy!! By all means take a break, enjoy some down time. You deserve it. Also I totally agree about the elephants. The first time I went to Thailand I went to see the elephants and absolutely fell in love with them, their big beautiful brown eyes and long eye lashes!! They were amazing but as I looked around my heart just broke. The chains on their feet, their heads waving up and down as can only be due to anxiety. Will never go to one of these places with elephants again. However, I absolutely love Thailand and will go back!!!!

Life is always about the journey and you are one hell of a fun ride. We all have to learn to go with the flow of the universe and be brave. We all need to listen out for the messages which are meant for us whoever they are and how ever old they are. We wish you an amazing 2022 and there is no reason you cannot have all the things you dreamt about including the home in Chang Rai and Sumie just have to recognise and believe that you deserve these things. Look forward to following your adventures through the next year and seeing you refreshed and positive after your very well earned rest. Sam and Jane in Kidderminster UK X

Been watching your travel series of the 77 provinces from the beginning as this was something I've always dreamed of doing myself.
I've been waiting on your episode of Burriram province so I could show all my family and friends the places I've been to there.
Not everyone enjoys big city life, alot of people love the rural lifestyle.
Buriram is awesome, there are so many things to do and see, the food there is awesome too.
I wish you could have given it more credit, buriram would gain so much from tourism that your channel provides to all of your viewers far and wide.
You may be tired and exhausted from all your travelling and I think its awesome that your going to spend time with your friends and have a fantastic Christmas... but this channel is about travelling all the provinces of Thailand to highlight all that's to offer to all the viewers who continue to follow you.

Looks like you spend more time in places that just feel right, with a day or two somewhere that's just on the list. That's what I ended up doing on my year away. All those plans to travel the world turned into me spending all my time in SE Asia and India!

Thanks for the Q&A Paddy. It's always interesting to hear your thoughts after following your journey from the beginning. I think you're doing a great job - I knew this would be the case as I am subscribed to the Budgeteers too. I just love the way you travel mate!
I have noticed a change after Samui. Maybe having a gf now has had an impact on your priorities regarding this travel?
Either way I'm still enjoying it! Merry Christmas and I hope we beat you lot tomorrow 😉

Thank you for totally spoiling us members. Three videos to watch before everyone else. I always try not to watch them all at once. 😁You always work so hard. You deserve the break and time out. Good idea to put Dreamy, in for her oil leak, without worrying about time. I think your amazing all your travels alone. Those elephants should definitely be wild. Bless them. And you for always staying true to your heart. Teaching will always be there. I hope you do not stop traveling. I would so miss you, your content, humor. The beautiful destinations. And you would miss my love letter messages. 🤣🤣Being positive in life makes things happen. You have learned new qualities on this journey. You have definitely caught the sun on your day of gardening. I love your videos. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week.

I got excited because I thought you were going to be at the islands of Koh Surin in the Andaman Sea! I didn't know there was a Surin province too.. Great Q&A. Bravo on your stance with the elephants, Paddy! Most all of us agree with you!! Lastly, I would be thrilled to see you reunited with Thijs and Lina someday. Even with them as guests for one episode on your own channel. You guys have great chemistry. 👍

@@travelertrome8449 understandable. They are arguably the most beautiful islands and beaches in Thailand. It's very much like The Maldives. And the snorkeling and diving are exceptional. They've limited daily numbers into the national Park as well to avoid a repeat of all the idiots who destroyed Maya Bay, so that's also good 😊

Glad to see you have straightened your grumpy mug a bit, must have been your spiritual day of hard labor with the Buriram guru :-} Agree with the Elephant position, if you want to see Elephants in Thailand then go to a National Park. I will be hunting that Surin Noodle shop next week to test the Beef Boar Noodle soup, certainly one of my favorite dishes. The questions you answered were interesting and I certainly agree with the freedom, I was lucky enough to retire in Thailand and spend my time on the road going where and when I want, no pressures apart from where I lay my head that night. Well done Paddy, live the dream mate.

Another great video. I've decided to become a Patreon. I should have done it yonks ago and not been such a cheap Charlie.
I was about to pull the trigger actually but that was the week when looking a gift horse in the eye free motorbike loaner-gate happened and I was momentarily put off. But then you were big enough to address that fully in a follow up video and get massive props for me for that.
So yeah, about time I pay up I think for what has been really excellent quality content right from the start.

Hey Paddy, you deserve a break. I agree about getting Dreamy to Bangkok so it can be properly fixed. Constant travelling can take a lot out of you. The most I ever did was 7 months and I was glad to get back home. Don't give up what you have built up this year though it does sound like you do need to slow down. The idea of having 2 homes sounds ideal. I hope you can make it happen. Have a fantastic Christmas in Bangkok and New Year in Pai. Cheers, Stef

18:21 What's next after you finish all provinces. My suggestion is you should do a camping trip, live in the wood how to cook and expose to the nature. You know in Thailand we have lots place to camp and someplace you can see once a year such as Sakura wilds or Sea fog on the mountain. The clips you upload on youtube are quite general travel through Thailand with every tourist would go. But, as Thai locals, our travel plan depends on the season , every flower takes their time. Have you heard "Phu Kradueng" which is in Lei province? if you come in winter season this place is such a mysterical place but you have to climb up the mountain 3-5 hr. up there you can set a camp , see the stars and the Milky way , see wild blooming flowers.

Anyone recognise the song playing around 9.10 onward? I can't make out the words or language even after trying really hard but the vibe and intonation really reminds me of South African, Afrikaans music and I'd be very curious to know if it by some miracle happens to be that or not :)
