Seriously, the altitude got some low lander ostie people in quite a bad way when i was there. I was ready to do the 'clear!' (BAM) thing for them...
Brilliant! I wish it could have been a longer. Were you able to switch on Elton's heater on the way down and use 'regen' to make up energy for the heater use?
@@MeandMonAmi Also, I was thinking about range extender/booster battery packs for the Ami. I've designed and built some Lithium Battery packs and would love to engineer one for the Ami.
would love to see you driving elton around the south hams - some choice hills around the moor - came for the car, stayed for the people. loving your work
I think those little square holes in the stone walls of the chateau were not for shooting arrows. They were for inserting scaffolding beams for the workers to stand on as they built up the walls. That was explained on another TH-cam video where a nice young Dutchman is fixing up two very old stone houses in the Italian alps somewhere. Another question about Elton: once you were at the top, was it really necessary to charge Elton? Wouldn't the regenerative braking on the long way down the mountain have restored a lot of the original charge?
What a great fact! I’ve done a video on regenerative braking on the Ami and it’s goo but not that good. There’s no way we’d have got there and back with the amount of semi level ground sadly.
Another great video! Thanks VERY much for the temperature and for showing the charging process as I'd requested! BTW, as someone else mentioned, the sound wasn't as clear for me as it usually is; I have no idea why. I *really* appreciate all the editing work you must put into these videos, combining footage from all your cameras! Very well done indeed.
Superb video - love watching you guys, putting me in the mood of doing a road trip. My partner and me moved to Hungary a couple of years ago so time for a euro road trip. Also, who is the male singer and the song in the background - great taste in music too guys
Has anyone else got the up and down sound thing? One friend of mine discovered another video of mine played perfectly sound wise on her phone but was up and down on her comp. Be interested to hear from anyone else as I hate bad sound (though the car is very difficult to record in)
@@MeandMonAmi I am horrified to think I criticised the sound yet it could be my computer or speakers at fault. Coincidentally I have a friend who is sorting my computer tomorrow and I'll ask him to sort the sound system at the same time. Apols!
@@gordonnorth5698 I ‘think’ the issue will be whether your comp is playing stereo because sometimes I have to isolate channels. Maybe try it on your phone and see if same issue? But I am intrigued to know if anyone else is suffering same thing as sound and youtube can be an issue!
@@MeandMonAmi Thanks for taking the trouble to respond. Don't have a smartphone but I'll try it on my laptop and see if computer literate friend can find the gremlin on the PC tomorrow,.
Friend couldn't adjust the 'puter but the laptop has perfect sound with your videos. My wife's Aunty Fanny from Dewsbury changed her name to Francis. Wonder why? Thanks again.
I keep thinking of the notorious stretches on Colorado’s fabled Independence Pass - not for the faint of heart! There are no guardrails on the ascent snd descent on the eastward side of the mountain and after the summit on the westward side, a one lane stretch of road with no guardrails - for a few miles! The D22 is notorious for being the narrowest mountain road in France if not the world. Elton was like born to navigate it because of the compact nature of the vehicle. But its an inadvisable route for a big car!
@@MeandMonAmi I think he meant you put connection point inside of the car, just behind the door, not in the hole for the charging cable. So if it rains it isn't outside and nobody can disconnect it.
@@DrazenKlisuric ?! Can't they just open the box of the chargepoint and pull out the plug? Or is that locked? Haven't seen anything like this in the U.S.. Europe is so far ahead!
Found your channel and I think is is fantastic well done keep posting these videos also you have 2 songs you use on your videos can is ask what are the songs the are beautiful
Quite! fitted on your garage wall they cost around £1000 pounds and sit there analysing your entire driving life. Round here there are lots of wet muddy roads to drive on with a few rough bits. I will have to drive carefully. It does turn heads around here though. Incidentally my other car is my beloved Pluriel Amelie. 17 years old now and still in fair condition. I didn't see any in your videos, are there any still around in your part of France? Kevin.
Fully charging an EV is not usually a good idea at the top of a mountain because it leaves no room in the battery for allowing the regeneration to be collected. Did you find that your brakes got a bit hot while going going back down the mountain, Tim?
I didn’t know that. Luckily there was a bit of up and down on the way back so no harm done, hopefully! I didn’t notice the brakes getting hot but round here is so hilly I imagine they will need replacing more often than usual? What is usual?
@@MeandMonAmi I'm sure that there wasn't any harm done. I don't know if you can feel the regeneration [regen] in an Ami when going downhill or coasting. It feels a bit like a gas car being put into a lower gear and 'holding back' a bit. This is when the car is recapturing the energy that would normally be lost by the friction brakes and recharging the battery a bit. On most EVs, if the battery is fully charged and you go down a hill, the regen is temporarily turned off because the battery is already full. You will then not have that feeling of slowing itself down while coasting and will need to step on the brake pedal more than usual until some power has been used from the battery.
No, unfortunately they've fitted with a large cumbersome black pistol style plug. I have been on to the Ami helpline and they have found two possible chargers both way out of town, no cafe's near so I'll have to read a book while I wait. Only 19% autonomy left now. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Suppose I can't send a photo on this site? Kevin.
Trust me an adaptor from someone like tough leads may not be recommended but will work. If you go to meandmonami on Instagram you can send pictures and I’ll explain
@@MeandMonAmi Hi there, Yes you are quite right.
This was a very nice one!
Thanks Henk
Another great video! Thanks VERY much for the temperature and for showing the charging process as I'd requested! BTW, as someone else mentioned, the sound wasn't as clear for me as it usually is; I have no idea why. I *really* appreciate all the editing work you must put into these videos, combining footage from all your cameras! Very well done indeed.
Hi James, thanks. Have you tried watching on a different device as that seems to solve the problem. I hope!
Superb video - love watching you guys, putting me in the mood of doing a road trip. My partner and me moved to Hungary a couple of years ago so time for a euro road trip.
Also, who is the male singer and the song in the background - great taste in music too guys
Thanks Paul, so glad you are enjoying. This video was a while ago and I confess I can’t remember the singer. Shazam app will though
Love your videos guys! U r so funny!
Thanks!
The restaurant up the mountain looked amazing!!
It was fab
That road!
Yes it’s quite something!
Yet another great video (though the sound is up and down - as usual) Hope you didn't run out of brakes on the way down! Gordon
I think if I’d really known how narrow it was I probably wouldn’t have dared do it. But we will never forget it!
Another great video, thanks. I suggest to put the connection and the original charging cable in the car while charging to protect it.
Thanks Andrea. You are probably right but it takes so long to get back in the hole!
@@MeandMonAmi I think he meant you put connection point inside of the car, just behind the door, not in the hole for the charging cable. So if it rains it isn't outside and nobody can disconnect it.
@@DrazenKlisuric Thats a good point!
Thanks Steve. Pandemonium by Hanna Stone is the one everyone seems to like
Simply terrifying. !
It is and wonderful
Nice one !
Suspect Ami does not do "regeneration" or else you might have got back much of the range lost going uphill when you returned down.
Thanks Rhian. It does regenerate (see our regeneration video)
suprised it made it up, even at walking pace
Walking pace! She flew!
“Oh look! A monument to all those who have died on this road!” Too funny!😂. “Whose idea was this?” “Your idea!”
Some of the rocks in the rock walls look a lot bigger than Elton 😉😂
I think they are. Much bigger!
Yippee!
Great video !! fantastic views ;-) Could you enter me please for your Bluetti competition also ?? Vive la mon ami experience !!
We haven’t seen Halloween in a while? Does she not like coming along for the ride?
We are saving her for closer to home journeys. She’s not a great car fan!
Quite! fitted on your garage wall they cost around £1000 pounds and sit there analysing your entire driving life. Kevin.
Pluriel?
Hope u didn't leave with literally 100% SOC! How much Regen dis you get on the way down?
We arrived back with about 38 km left
I emailed Adrian at Tough Leads and he told me how to unplug the two pin from the dreaded gun.(I spent two hours at a hotel this morning and charged it two thirds for 88p Sorry I haven't got Instagram, facebook or twitter, mostly use FaceTime, Apple Messages or Skype. I will order a lead from Tough Leads and hopefully charge at home at night. Love your wacky videos and thanks for your good advice. Kevin.
@@kevinlawley7830 Excellent. As I say it’s not recommended by Citroen but I can’t see anyone installing a home charger..
Do you have a link on where to register for the charge pass? Thanks!

Those roads were terrifying. I would NEVER drive them if they had snow or ice.
No and there are signs indicating black ice!
how many kilometers can citroen ami last for a steep route like this?
I’ve done a video about this exact subject which will be out in a weeks time!
@@MeandMonAmi nice :) loves from ankara
This is a great video boys. You gave virtigo last night while I watched it in bed. Tres Hitchcock. Must get me one of those cars.
Thanks. It’s quite a road!

Is Mr. Boo French? 🤔
No he just does a good impression!
Jesus H Christ! When we get back to VF in March we will take you for beers. BUT, we def won’t be going up that road! We will stick to Betty’s, it’s safer!!!
Don’t fancy a gentle drive up there?!
Too slow
Total stupid box on wheels.
