    Hi! Almost 5 years later and this video helped fix a very annoying issue with my pdfs!
    I installed a macro program and it wiped off unwanted text from 400+ pages within minutes. (It solved the problem of clicking manually.)
    For those interested, the program is free (gs auto-clicker), I setted it to click every 50 milisecond and just left the cursor on the "Replace Next" button. Thanks again

    This does not work as you get the error message “Unable to highlight text across multiple text boxes.” as soon as you have entered anything in the Replace field and try to start the search.
    This error prevents you from performing the text replace operation.

    • @erinwrightwriting

    • @erinwrightwriting

      Thank you for watching my videos! That is an interesting question. When I use the Find tool on my version of Acrobat, the results are highlighted with a blue box, but the font color itself doesn't change. Unfortunately, I am not currently aware of a way to change how the results are displayed. If I stumble upon a solution, I will be sure to post about it!

    Thank you for your post. When I open a pdf and go to find it finds the word but then when I ask to replace it I get a message saying: "Unable to highlight non editable text". What am I doing wrong?

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! You're probably not doing anything wrong. Acrobat's find and replace tool is a bit limited; so, if your text isn't in editable text boxes, the software won't be able to replace the text. If you have a lot of replacements, you may want to convert to Word, do the replacements, and then reconvert to a PDF. Best of luck!

  • @clorenger

    This was OK, but I really need to know how to replace a long paragraph and there seems to be some limit to the search field?

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching my video. I was not able to determine the find and replace character limit through Acrobat's documentation. However, it is normally only used for words and phrases, so it may struggle with longer blocks of text. In that case, you may have to do manual replacement. Best of luck!

    what if there is no replace with button?

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Caity. Thank you for visiting my channel! The steps in this tutorial are for Adobe Acrobat DC (Pro and Standard versions). If you're using the free Acrobat Reader, which is a separate software, I'm afraid you won't see the Replace With button because Reader doesn't offer that feature.

    Say, I have a big pdf, and that pdf's exact text is "Arial Bold", and the same is "Calipari" now I want to replace all the font with an "Adobe Thai". Now how could we solve this? Please reply If you can.

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! Unfortunately, performing font replacement in large documents in Adobe Acrobat is difficult. If possible, your best option may be to convert the PDF to a Word doc, perform the replacement in Word, and then reconvert it to a PDF.

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching! Normally, Acrobat will replace the text in the same font as the surrounding text. However, if that's not happening, you may want to go to Edit > Preferences > Content Editing > and then choose the font you want in the "Fallback font for editing" and "Default font for Add Text" options. Best of luck!

    How would you find and replace the date from April 3, 2020 with April 10, 2020. There are 50k occurances. I have tried the find and replace and it only changes the 1st one and then doesn't find any more.

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adobe Acrobat doesn't currently offer a "replace all" option, so you will have to continue to select the "Next" button to find each occurrence. However, because you have 50k occurrences, you may want to consider saving your PDF as a Word file, using Word to do a "replace all," and then turning the Word file back into a secondary copy of your PDF. Best of luck!
