    So chemical cargo wasn't that dangerous. Amazed to see there is ladder inside the tank. I found chemical tank much smaller than bulk carriers cargo hold.

    Captain I have always wondered what is inside those tanks. You made my day. I follow oil tankers as a passion and I stumbled upon this video.
    But I have some queries:
    1) what contingency for collision as it can wreak a environmental disaster?
    2) how do you calculate the displacement since many hydrocarbons have variable specific gravity and therefore density? Is the heating system effective enough? Even so what if it heats volatile cargo to flash point?
    3) how do you validate cleaning of such huge space? Is it only visibly clean? How do prevent carryover contamination of previous cargo?
    4) the tank you showed does not have baffles how do you compensate the surface effect (sloshing)? Or only the ballast have baffles?; please clarify.
    Thanks in advance. Keep up the good work. Yours is the best maritime channel around.

      Mr. nomad as soon as a man is overboard and duty officer on bridge sees he will make a hard port or atbd (left/right) opposite to the side the man has fallen in order to save him from the risk of being sucked by the propeller... then he will put the steering in opposite direction and manouver the ship 180 and put it back to the same course in opposite course and search for the person...refer “wilhemson turn” in google for more info

    What is different between purging/stripping/ and priming ? plz help me out

    • @ShipSailorSunil
      @ShipSailorSunil  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Purging to supply oil/ cargo / hydraulic / medium in order to remove air from the system .
      Stripping is to discharge / remove last few cms of cargo when the tank level is low and it’s hard for the pump to have suction , so u close the valves use smaller lines run pumps at low rpm , use educator for conventional tankers

    • @ShipSailorSunil
      @ShipSailorSunil  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Priming is to fill cargo pumps , strainer with cargo in order to regain lost suction

    • @ShipSailorSunil
      @ShipSailorSunil  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Priming is also done to regain ballast pump suction by doing same thing with SW
