It’s going to be really interesting to see developments going forward, particularly Dexcom G7 and Omnipod 5 once these two talk to each other. As soon as the NHS & local commissioning sees the long term benefits of these closed loop systems set against poor management (amputations etc) then hopefully diabetics will get increased access to such items. Great video as ever 👍🏻
Thanks Carl! Omnipod 5 system works with Dexcom G6 and not G7 (at least not currently). We expecting to see NHS updated guidelines for hybrid closed loop funding soon! I can't wait!
Woah, the auto start is great, combided with the 12 hour grace period. Just insert it after 10 days. Wait 12 hours for the old sensor to end. And let's go with a newly warmed up sensor! Now they have to make it last at least 14 days
Yaass!! Your excitement is rubbing off onto me lol. I use the freestyle and I'm excited for the freestyle 3. It's just amazing how far technology has come. Keep up the videos!!
Mine should arrive tomorrow! Been working on it literally since launch (Feb 17th here) so excited that it’s finally coming to me. Thanks for showing me the application process and making me less anxious about it!
I just got approved for mine coming in a couple weeks, and I am STOKED. My first CGM was the crappy Medtronic one when they first released it and were making so many adjustments. It pretty much never worked. I’m watching videos trying to get an understanding of what it looks like and things, but I am so excited!
Biggest up to me is the auto timer and 30 minute warmup??? Excuse me?? Not two hours?? 😂 I've also forgotten on the g6 to activate it for an hour or thought I hit the button and it wouldn't actually go (the device with g6 seems hard to press buttons) I do hope these come to the US soon and are possibly covered on my insurance. Great video, I've never seen someone so excited for diabetes supplies! ❤️
Omg this was posted today an hour ago!? So i have to wait a whole 23 hours until the next video and everyday after that??!! Omg… great video friend, aloha from hawaii!
Just have to wait now for the g7 to be approved here in Canada, can't wait to see if it will work with the Omnipod Dash! Just started with the Omnipod 2 weeks ago and the G6 about a month and a half ago. I'm off to get my quarterly bloodwork done on Friday, I really hope my A1C has come down from the 11 it was sitting at previously
Hello from New Zealand. Great video and big excitement for you guys in Europe ♡ I can't wait for this to get to NZ and fingers crossed, sooner rather than later.
Hey! You won't be waiting long! Today Dexcom G7 launches in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Hong Kong with New Zealand and South Africa coming in the next few weeks. Wooohoooo
I'm so jealous!! Here we have an American company, Dexcom, but y'all get to have the Dexcom G7 before we get them. I understand our FDA is holding things up for us. Your video makes me want the G7 NOW! Thanks for your helpful videos.
G6 and tandem t slim user here from U.K. looking forward to the development of the g7 and when it will work with the t slim. The g6 is great but I hate that 2 hour warm up !
I have been using the Libre 2 and then the 3 for almost a year, but it was all out of pocket, because insurance wouldn’t cover it. When the G7 came out, I finally asked about it and got the insurance and Dr. to agree. Apparently just in time the Libre 3 almost doubled this month. Hope the G7 lives up to the hype. Thanks for the information, not near as worried about the differences now.
Thanks for the unboxing vid and congrats!! Cannot wait til we get it in Canada [2024 I'm told]! And also very excited for the Omnipod 5 too! Thanks and keep up the great work!!
Another year and a half really yeesh, and who knows how long for third party medical to cover and BC FairPharmacare to cover it as well ugh....not to mention the special auth wait
Thanks for a great video Kamil. One question (which probably comes to mind to many who are not in the jurisdictions where the G7 was launched)... Can G7 be purchased on-line / over the counter without insurance coverage / prescription?
In the UK yes. You can just visit their website and buy it. It is the same as the Libre in the UK. Btw.. forgot to say that I really enjoy your videos! I’m sure we can expect Libre 3 vs G7 soon 😬
Hey! Thanks a lot! It is available to UK residents via Dexcom E-commerce link below. From 8AM this morning, Dexcom G7 launched in United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Hong Kong- some of those are via e-commerce like UK others via insurance . Today uk.store.dexcom.com/en-GB/dexcom-g7/STX-GT-SUBSCRIPTION.html
I really like the channel. It's great to see diabetes tech evolving although I am thinking of going to daily injection again soon but this time with the G6
I'm looking forward to when Tandem and Dexcom will integrate the G7 with the Tandem x2 insulin pumps. I'VE had a lot of problems with sensors bleeding on insertion and had to change it out because of excessive bleeding. I'm glad it will be all one part the sensor and transmitter. It will be more cost efficient. No more having to put the sensor on and then attach the transmitter. I love that the warmup time will be 30 minutes instead of 2 hours. It is a lot smaller too. and i rather use my arms for my sensors because it works better in the arm and gives a more accurate reading of your blood sugars. THANK YOU DEXCOM FOR ANOTHER GREAT DEVICE FOR US DIABETICS.
Great video. Thank you so much. I am waiting for it in the US. Do you know if you can calibrate it like the G6? Mine was off a good bit and had to calibrate so it and Tandem took care of me correctly.
I’m glad they have not used the same style inserted as the G6. The needle is exposed after use so it has to be discarded in a sharps bin (in UK) and the unit is HUGE! Far to big for even the opening in a 5litre bucket opening. Total nightmare!
I have been using the G6 here in the U.S. (paying out of pocket because Medicare doesn't cover cost for me ). Anxious to have the G7 available in U.S. soon!
Hi Kamil, hope you're well. There's been a lot of excitement around Dexcom's announcement that we'll eventually be able to connect the G7 directly to Apple Watch. Have Dexcom mentioned any plans further down the road to allow us to connect it directly to Android watches? Cheers.
Sadly no! If I had to put a bet, I would bet we won't see direct to android watch integration for years if ever. Having spoken to a couple of Dexcom staff about it, it sounds like Direct to Apple Watch was a project much much much more complex than they anticipated. If I hear anything, I will let you know.
Hello, when should I set up hypo-hyper signals? I can't find this button, maybe it will appear after I put the sensor on my hand and set it to warm up? Thanks
I’ve been using the dexcom G6 for several months but I’m allergic to the adhesive so have asked my DSN for the G7, I’ve had to go back to using the libre2 but keep losing signal and been up most of the night with compression lows 😢, I’m hoping the adhesive on the G7 is ok for me
Great news. Can I see my glucose levels on my Samsung Galaxy Watch4 with Dexcom G7? And how often does G7 sends info about glucose? Right now I am buying Libre 3 and I find very useful to see my glucose every minute in some situations 🙂
We are new to this.. Is there any pipes? And where does the insulin goes in? Is the insulin inside the patch? For transmition, do you only need the phone app to run it, or do you need to carry the device with you?
So you CAN use both the receiver and your phone? Also does the back of the upper arm work? My mother in law is 87 and under the arm won't work, I'm sure, too flabby
So I’m DIY looping with G6 and Eros pods- I’m sort of waiting for Omnipod 5, but due to sensitivity to the G6 adhesive I have to buy barrier patches… I’m assuming that G7 won’t work with loop? I’ve been waiting for this one to come out for ages….!

@@RyanCrossOfficial we had three D7s on trial at home. Took apart one of the applicators to see how recyclable it was. It did disassemble quite well so the extremely sharp needle could be taken out quite safely and disposed of in a sharps bin. The spring mechanism could be separated and this included the small magnet. Everything else was plastic that could be isolated into distinct types. The magnet was quite strong, it could easily hold up an Omnipod on a steel sheet if we were trying to emulate Nerdabetic's lighting display. Many handy uses and not something that should be thrown away - unless there is a recycling route back to Dexcom. We disassembled the others for the magnets - no route to recycle the materials in our region, they went to the energy from waste plant.
I received a message from Dexcom yesterday that the G6 will work fine with iOS 16. You do have to upgrade the iPhone app to version 2.3 . That version is what is at the App Store but I had to delete the old version of the app before the new version would load. Works fine but Dexcom still has not addressed the issue of displaying 1... occasionally when, for example, it should be displaying 130. Going to the bolus screen and the information is correct.
@@GracjanZotucha I didn't know that iOS 16 had been released. I checked for new iOS releases after the upgrade and came back I was at the latest revision. Didn't know 16 was released at all.
Great, now Dexcom has created a 5th discrete waste stream for diabetics. I already had an exposed sharps container and needle clip stream for syringes and clipped infusion set inserter needles, a "captive" sharps biohazard bag for CGM inserters with shielded needles and clipped infusion set inserter shells, a non-sharp biohazard medical waste stream, and a Universal waste / E-waste stream for the separate transmitters with internal batteries. Now the integrated sensor / transmitter is both biohazardous and toxic. You can't incinerate it because of the batteries, and you can't send it for battery reclamation because of the infection potential. I hope the sensors come with instructions to disassemble, otherwise this is a waste management catastrophe.
Dexcom has not done a good job regarding medical waste. Now we have an inserter and combined transmitter/sensor. They really need to prioritize this, it's a shame.
G7 isn’t available in the USA yet. I use the g6 with the omnipod 5 and they communicate with each other. The g7 will as well. It is an amazing system. It takes a few on iPods to really start to work, I’d say three, but then it’s amazing. Hope that helps.
First let me say your videos are funny -and- informative. Thank oyu. Well, once again Tandem has failed its customers. It was not ready for iPhone's iOS 16; even though it had accesss to beta and time to prepare.. Now... Dexcom G7 is out here in the USA and we who use Tandem t-slim x2 can't usee it because, wait for it... Tandem is not ready yet. GOOD GRIEF! Thanks James!! Tandem publicly promised very quick rollout following G7 FDA clearance. It has been 2 months, hoping they will publicly confirm their timelines very shortly.
I just watched your video on the Dexcom G7 and I have a question, on inserting the device, you mentioned a QR code how easy is that to scan, the reason I am asking, is that I am almost blind and I have problems taking a picture with the G6 and I just use the numbers does the seven have the same option or is it all or just a QR code in thank you for your response
Hi yes! This is an amazing question. Yes you can type it in manually and it works okay with VoiceOver :) have an amazing day and let me know if you have any other questions
Hi Kamil, have you noticed any issues with Nightscout uploads? Trying to figure out whether I will have any issues with looping while they implement G7 app as an official source…
Great video! Hopefully if you press "no" on allowing the critical alerts we now have a way to get rid of those awful screaming low alarms without disabling Bluetooth. However I saw in your first slide "low soon alert" that might fix that already?
Thanks! Yes, I have turned off all alarms with G7. If you use an iPhone, it asks for your biometrics Touch ID or Face ID to verify that you want to silence alarms. Very smart
I am an old gal type one. Love my G6 and look forward to the G7 eventually. I only want a receiver, nothing on my phone. Possible? Will I have to download software somehow somewhere if there is a receiver-only option? Feel free to overexplain, dumb down your answer etc. for a technically challenged person and new subscriber.
I am soo sorry to hear this. If it is reporting inaccurately, please call Dexcom for replacement. In the mean time, you can try to calibrate via Blood Glucose - select Calibrate option.
Today Dexcom G7 launches in UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Hong Kong with New Zealand and South Africa coming in the next few weeks. I do not have Australia timelines ay the moment. Will share when I get them! Thanks for watching
I’m a couple of days into wearing my G7 (still got the g6 on as well) One thing that is irritating me, is the widget on iPhone isn’t updating or sometimes not reading the data. This has always worked perfectly on g6 but it’s a massive let down so far. I’m guessing it’s based on the software not being tested for ios16 yet. I always swipe left on my screen to check my levels so this is going to hinder me a little. Anyone else found this?
Hello @nerdabetic , important please, is the G7 skin insertion cannula vertical ? or oblique like G6 ? approximately how tall is it ? and finally can we recalibrate it voluntarily ?? thank you !
Ooh man I'm so jealous 😫 😭. In Greece we only have freestyle libre 1. Nobody knows when libre 2 and 3 will arrive. Sadly, Dexcom here is not available. I hope 🙏 things will change. Best to all diabuddies
All the modern and fresh green and white packaging, and the sensor is beige 🤦♂️ lol. Mind you, if that’s the only complaint I’ve got by the time I’ve tried one (it’s in the mail) I’ll let it slide! 😝

What if I didn't press the wearable for 10 seconds after the insertion? Would the session still get started?
Do u put the sencor on first the then put the code in ?

Great video! Hopefully if you press "no" on allowing the critical alerts we now have a way to get rid of those awful screaming low alarms without disabling Bluetooth. However I saw in your first slide "low soon alert" that might fix that already?
Thanks! Yes, I have turned off all alarms with G7. If you use an iPhone, it asks for your biometrics Touch ID or Face ID to verify that you want to silence alarms. Very smart
@@Nerdabetic sounds perfect! Can't wait for it to get to Sweden. Hopefully my Tandem X2 will be compatible 🙏🏻
What's better to use dexcomg6 or 7 or freestyle libre 2
Is it easy to pair a phone AND a receiver?
Will I ever be able to see my glucose levels directly on my Samsung watch?
I am an old gal type one. Love my G6 and look forward to the G7 eventually. I only want a receiver, nothing on my phone. Possible? Will I have to download software somehow somewhere if there is a receiver-only option? Feel free to overexplain, dumb down your answer etc. for a technically challenged person and new subscriber.
The G7 doesn’t connect to the Omnipod, correct?
My daughter applied the G7 sensor and its really low compared to blood glucose. Does it take a while to correct. It's scarily low compared to actuals
I am soo sorry to hear this. If it is reporting inaccurately, please call Dexcom for replacement. In the mean time, you can try to calibrate via Blood Glucose - select Calibrate option.
Any ideas when it will arrive in Australia?
If prior history is anything to go by, 2 to 3 years after the USA get it.
Today Dexcom G7 launches in UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Hong Kong with New Zealand and South Africa coming in the next few weeks. I do not have Australia timelines ay the moment. Will share when I get them! Thanks for watching
volume is so low on this one my friend
Do I delete the g6 from my phone?
Is the inserter reusable yet?
I’m a couple of days into wearing my G7 (still got the g6 on as well)
One thing that is irritating me, is the widget on iPhone isn’t updating or sometimes not reading the data. This has always worked perfectly on g6 but it’s a massive let down so far. I’m guessing it’s based on the software not being tested for ios16 yet. I always swipe left on my screen to check my levels so this is going to hinder me a little. Anyone else found this?
volume a bit low. But thank you for the video. most informative.
Hello @nerdabetic , important please, is the G7 skin insertion cannula vertical ? or oblique like G6 ? approximately how tall is it ? and finally can we recalibrate it voluntarily ?? thank you !
I would hazard to say is 90° like the Libre. And yes you can calibrate like the G6
Hey, yes, it is 90 degree in and yes you can calibrate just as with G6.
@@zarasbubble1748 thank you
@@Nerdabetic thank you
Please compare it to Libre 3
Ooh man I'm so jealous 😫 😭. In Greece we only have freestyle libre 1. Nobody knows when libre 2 and 3 will arrive. Sadly, Dexcom here is not available. I hope 🙏 things will change. Best to all diabuddies
Oh no!!!! I actually had no idea Dexcom was not available in Greece. Let me ask around and see if I can get some info. Best!
@@Nerdabetic Thank you so much. Not only Dexcom but libre 2 and 3. We are so far behind to other countries. 😭😭
G7 same size then Libre 2?
Can you wear it without the over patch. Great video, at last it’s here😊
Yes, patch is optional. I will chat about my experience in an upcoming video.
I think it is good that they supply the over patch. With the G6 it is way cheaper to just send you another sensor whereas the G7 it is the whole unit.
All the modern and fresh green and white packaging, and the sensor is beige 🤦♂️ lol. Mind you, if that’s the only complaint I’ve got by the time I’ve tried one (it’s in the mail) I’ll let it slide! 😝
Hahaha what colour which you like your G7 to be if you could have any ?
@@Nerdabetic I reckon just clean white aye 👍
Still no G7 in Australia as of June 2024
