Hey guys. I'm sick with a throat and sinus infection and can't finish up the narration for my 2015 list just yet. The whole video is about 2/3 done but will need to recover before I'm able to finish it. Terrible timing, I know. Sorry about that.

Something Generic the movie is suppose to scare you without music. You should be scared visually than by the music. It's like a laugh track, you should be able to laugh on your own, not with a laugh or scary track shoving down your throat.
I don't really jump at anything anyway I just get this really creepy feeling that follows me out of the movie theatre which I think is what modern horror movies should really shoot for instead of a knee jerk reaction.
This film seemed like it was trying so hard not to be interesting and unique. There were parts that were genuinely phenomenal that were unfortunately undercut by its attempts to be as generic as possible. Less music and fewer jumpscare cues and more reliance on the strength of its cast along with great editing and directing would have put this film steps above the majority of even great horror films.

"A great movie trapped in a good movie" That's the perfect way to describe IT, thank you. I've felt that exact way since I saw IT but I couldn't put words to IT.
I don't understand the criticism of Richie's dialogue. Am I the only person in the world who knew kids like that in Junior High? I mean... it's junior high. No one is pure and no one is mature. No? Just me?
I’m pretty sure it’s just because it’s different from the book (or TV series, but I haven’t seen that). The old Richie has like, voices and characters that he made up, and him just saying something at the wrong time made him the trash mouth kid. New Richie is like a kid on an Xbox Live lobby, just profane. Edit: Not saying that’s unrealistic, just different, and older audiences probably found it much more immature, and not in a charming way.
@@VictorCardena3 Not really terrible. It's not special, but it's not obviously awful at the same time. I'd say it's a pleasant one-off experience if you're looking for a light horror film, rather than a masterpiece.
"it was rather like a great film trapped in a good film" This fucking sentence so perfectly describes this movie for me. Great video. Can't wait for the 2015 list!
Reminds me of the Amityville Horror remake with Ryan Reynolds. All the shitty studio blockbuster horror tropes are there. Bad GCI, overexplained villain, bland directing, jump chords. Yet the entire cast puts in really excellent performances. It's like they're trying to sabotage the terribleness
Oh my god thank you for calling out Georgie's death scene. They had a real opportunity to make it so much more unnerving if that kid was in more severe anguished hysterics. It should have been a scene that made the audience feel more than uncomfortable, but they fucking squandered it's potential. If you're going to have a kid get his arm torn off by the jowls of a monstrous clown, you have to milk that shit harder.
Scarlet Morbidity For me, realistic terrified screaming is one of the scariest things in a movie. People always say things like ‘Oh why do people think the Blair Witch Project ending is scary, you don’t even see anything’, but to me it’s the actress’ scream that makes it so scary. She sounds legitimately terrified like she knows she’s about to be killed in a moment and she can’t do anything about it and it’s the scariest sound to me. Even if you can’t get some child actors to physically emote that kind of fear they should at least be able to produce an ear splitting scream, not just a ‘Waugh! Billyyy....’ The kid with his tongue stuck to the pole in A Christmas Story showed more anguish.
I agree 100%, Mana Kanada. A good horrified scream gives chills and unsettles the viewer, which is what that scene should have been aiming for. I mean shit, kids are never seen being violently murdered on screen. There was such a good opportunity to make some viewers feel too unnerved to even stick around. You're also completely right about that kid who got his tongue stuck to the flag pole lol, that was good acting.
I feel like the bloody bathroom scene was fitting in a sense that the whole movie is about those kids being in misery and adults not seeing what the problem is. The adults can't see Penny and they can't see the blood, so the kids have to take it into their own hands to deal with it.
Nah dummies the blood was never there. The string monster was pennywise, and the blood only came after Bev was frightened, because it’s not there. Her dad wasn’t scared so he didn’t see it; Bev scares the shit out of the boys before they enter the room, so they enter the delusion too.
@@Yogahoda I mean they all got scared in their own ways before hand so that's probably why they can see it, besides just being kids and suggestible to fear as a whole. But anyway, like David said, the scene *is* fitting because IT isn't just a horror film. It's kind of like The Goonies meets Lovecraft; sure horror is a driving force in its own way but so are the bonds that these outcasts and victims form with one another. They're fighting against what is essentially a demon but they're also fighting against personal ones too, which is their common ground. The bathroom cleaning is the moment, I feel, that the Losers' Club really takes shape and what makes that uncleaned blood drop after they split up all the more symbolic of their broken bond. The camera work, the music and the screentime that is given to each person is basically screaming at you: "Friendship, coming together and camaraderie is how they are going to beat this thing!"
Indeed. I completely agree with Adam in this review. If the shitty jump scares were removed and a few scenes were changed this could have been a really great film.
The drain scene, one of his eyes is looking at the camera. Freaked me when I noticed it. But none of the jump scares scared me. It seemed to only focus on jump scares, and less about the actual horror of the story. That this thing feeds off of your fear. It's one thing to blatantly say it, it's another to demonstrate it. It's why this story works so much better in a 1000+ page book, and not an under budget "horror" movie
Guy Incognito They're the only parts that break through the film and actually terrified me. The rest were, as he says, just accentuated by loud bangs telling you when you're supposed to be scared. It would have been so much cooler and scarier if they hadnt just shown you Pennywise all the time. If they had shown that old drawing and not zoomed in on the clown, if his presence was always around in the film, but never shoved down your throat.
I still don't get the title of this film. Like literally no nerd guys, no computer programming, not even basic algorithms. What is it called IT then, huh?
Man, I can't imagine how awesome it must've been for the kids who watch you to hear that part at 1:38. As someone who has done quite a bit of acting in theater in high school, hearing Adam commend my performances would make me so happy, because you know, when Adam praises something, it's fucking good.
"Why do we need a sonic adventure 3!!!" If there's a reason to scream then that's it. Getting an arm eaten off and being dragged into the abyss is nothing compared to that.
The kid actors were pretty good, especially the actor who played Georgie. Most kid actors at his age are either average or plain bad. BUT this kid did a surprisingly good job, especially when he did the creepy kid trope.
Yeah I really wish we got to see Cary Fukunaga's version. The little kid was honestly amazing, but not as well directed as he could have been. Wasted his talent.
cookiechomp me to but they just had to go mainstream with the movie. I guess it worked people like Adam are eating it up. It’s mindless and only slightly better than most horror movies.
Literally a piece of banana bread M'lady Can't believe him. On top of that he also gave the new N.E.R.D album a 7 aswell. I feel I can't trust him anymore.
Sassy Somers He should have also left out the twenty minute segment defending the actions of the Ku Klux Klan as Slight missteps in the name of the greater good.
I laughed my arse off at it I just viewed the whole movie as a comedy and it is better that way (the trailer kinda forced that upon me but man it's so much better that way)
@@silverfang4583 The second movie was more of a comedy to me, I like to view this one as an all genre film; it's a fantasy, a horror, a romance, a teen film, a coming of age story, a sci-fi, a comedy, a drama. It's great.
the cinematography was done by the same guy who did those Park Chan-Wook movies like Oldboy and The Handmaiden, which probably accounts for why this film is so well shot.
FlimsyHoodlum A quick glimpse at his IMDb page: Isle of Dogs 9/10 Her 10/10 Rosemary’s Baby 10/10 Eighth Grade 7/10 The Lion King 10/10 (really?) Happiness 7/10 Heredity 7/10 Three Billboards Outside Missouri 9/10 Who Killed Captain Alex? 10/10 Howl’s Moving Castle 7/10 Happy Feet 7/10 (WTF, I wasn’t expecting it above 6) Blade Runner 2049 9/10 (really?) The Shape of Water 8/10 Straight Outta Compton 7/10 Sin City 10/10 Kill Bill 1&2 10/10 Brazil 10/10
+pissedoffdragon Blade Runner 2049 is slow & deliberate, visually stunning, has lots of shots of a flying car passing giant buildings while the soundtrack goes, "bweuuuuuuuuuuuuEEUUUUUUU". The plot is structured in a totally new and fresh way, everything about it is ambitious. It's a movie for people who watch way too many movies. Of course he loved it.
Thank God you didn't hate this movie, I know it isn't a perfect movie but I really enjoyed it despite it's jaring flaws. It makes me happy that you shared the enthusiasm for the parts I really liked. Especially Skarsgaard.
The montage where they cleaned the blood probably gave me the biggest laugh of the movie, because it was so ridiculously out of place and it caught me off guard.
This film (despite it trying hard to be a horror film) is one of the funniest films of last year, whether it be intentional or not. IDK if I should feel meh or if I should feel like its a so bad its good movie as none of the scares (in a horror movie) got to me but most of the jokes did.
Why? They're working together happily to clean up the mess the clown made. It IS a coming of age movie as well as a mild horror, you know. Kind of like Stand By Me.
That scene with the projector was legitimately frightening, too bad most of my experience at the theater was ruined by everybody else there, no one and I mean no one stayed quiet for more than 5 fucking seconds.
drokelertalk Seriously, I saw this with my friend who hates horror movies. She just doesn't like jumpscares or even some subtle horror-- we mostly laughed (or stifled our laughter) all the way through.
I sat next to a girl and her boyfriend and they were making out every 20 seconds. Also, the guy kept going “OH THIS IS THE (blank) PART!” or “THIS IS WHERE (blank) HAPPENS!!”
Oh boy your going to hate the next part. The book itself was just too weird to be adapted fully. The 2nd part was ok but not as good as the first. Personally didn’t enjoy. Plus no orgy scene so I’m very let down.
Pretty sure talking about that scene in any context OTHER than "it's an incredibly fucked up scene and proves even writers as big and famous as Stephen King can write D O G S H I T and need editors" is grounds for being put on every sex offender registry on the planet. Edit: And is all the stuff about some Cosmic Turtle real? Like is it actually in the book? Or were people just parodying how "other worldly" the book gets? Because that's frank Reynolds example of a "crazy conspiracy theory that might be true" from IASIP and never knew if it came from IT, IASIP, or if I was just an idiot who was outside of some meme. Is there really some flying galactic turtle the world is supposedly on?(yes that will sound batshit if I'm simply taking a joke seriously, but if not I'm genuinely curious but don't wanna read a fucking encyclopedia, I already got Gulag Archipelago on my "to read" list and that's big enough as it is lol
@Mutt yeah, there's a cosmic turtle in the book. And I have to say, other than *that* part of the book (which should've been cut out) it was really good. I'd recommend reading the book and just skipping past that part, or better yet tear it out of the book.
This wasn’t explained well.. but it’s a Stephen king universe so the adults don’t care for the kids.. hence the adult not being told about the headless clown.. it’s the movies fault for not explaining.. but it had a lot to do in 2 hours and a suprisingly low budget to do so.. (seriously compared to other movies like this, this movie did not have a large budget..) I agree with your review, but just a few things to point out incase you missed them.. Also, in my opinion... it’s not really a horror horror... it’s a different kind... it’s fun.. unlike insidious where every scare is supposed to be serious, this adds more of a thrill and a fun, intense scare.. For instance “hey, EGG BOI!” Or the projector scene, which was fucking perfect.. where you saw IT, and you where like “oh shit” in your head, then the kids start screaming amping you up so your like “OH SHHIT!” Then just as you realise there’s no real danger they play on it and fin goes “WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!? WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!” “Idontfuckingknow!” So the scare is lessened at this point, but the intensity and the fun stays. Also the amazing sense of awesomeness stays. That’s something that I loved about this movie, it’s a thriller more than a scary movie...
That’s one aspect of the book I wish the film focused more on-the adults not being able, or refusing, to acknowledge that something is wrong with the town.
I am fairly desensitized to representations of fathers sexually abusing their daughters in movies because I have known many women who had that experience, including my mom, who always spoke about it matter of factly and honestly. I've been aware that this happens my whole life without ever having to experience it myself. That might also make me more critical of this trope in movies. In IT and many other films, the abuse is revealed through implication and never spoken aloud. I feel like this only reinforces the belief that family sexual abuse is shameful and should not be spoken about. I would have preferred to see Beth tell someone that she is being abused, for example. I've also noticed that screenwriters rarely bother to incorporate the abuse into the daughter's character. Without the one scene where it is implied, the audience would have no way of knowing that Beth was being abused. And there are plenty of ways to show that subtly: fixation on running away or death, lack of physical boundaries or inappropriate sexual behavior, negative body image or trying to hide her body, self-harm, not wanting to be touched by others. But instead she swims in her underwear with a group of boys she only recently befriended and develops romantic feelings for one without apparently feeling confused or conflicted about it. I would expect a girl who has been sexually abused by her father to either avoid showing her body to a group of males she doesn't know that well at all costs or to only do so because she has internalized the message that her body exists to be used by men for their pleasure. I would have found the swimming scene more realistic if Beth went on to be sexually aggressive with one or more of the boys in a way that made them uncomfortable. That would illustrate how she has been forced into the world of adult sexuality in a way that is confusing and scary for children who haven't had sexuality thrust upon them. Basically, I would be more scared by scenes like this if they could use words to discuss the issue and if they presented it in a way that reflects the reality that I know.
@@AuDHDarling Thanks for sharing your perspective; I feel like I have a better understanding of this kind of situation now. I've never really thought that Hollywood's attempts to sanitize or avoid "triggering" people by not fully addressing the matter (instead just hinting at it) could actually be less sensitive than the alternative. However, at the same time, it might not be good material to include in a product designed for entertainment; even one ostensibly designed to horrify.
@@AuDHDarling I completely and wholeheartedly agree with you on the matter, but, to play devils advocate here, it is neither in movie nor book ever stated that Bev's Dad sexually abused her. Sure, there are the sexual undertones in ''Daddy' little girl'' but her father is more concerned about her preserving her innocence. As this is a book, and a movie about growing up, where parents want to keep their children small (See Eddie Burbacks Mom, Bills Dad), this interpretation of the situation puts the character of Bev, at least in my opinion, in a much more reasonable light. Also it gets even harder to explain the very controversial sewer escape scene, when Bev was raped by her father beforehand.
This film was shot beautifully. Right from the title card it was so slick and nice to look at. The actors dialogue was meh but quite funny at the best of times, and I agree that the performances were serviceable for child actors. The post production noise was quite annoying... It's a cheap way to get an easily scared audience invested, but the film did it's 'creepy' bits really well, so I'm not gonna complain too much. I honestly loved it, even as someone who isn't a huge fan of horror! I'd give it an 8/10
Sure, but I'm fairly certain our head are not made of rubber. Apart from that, I think getting a stone the size of your hand thrown in your head can make you go "ouch" and then run off. I'm pretty sure it would knock you out. I liked the movie, this one scene just seemed kinda.. bad?
I just want to know if you'll ever talk about Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in detail. Hell, give me one sentence about it. I know you like it. I've seen your lists. Don't play with me Adam.

6 out of 10. after all you said i expected an 8 or higher, maybe its because when other people rate things a 6 usually means just about average. oh well, ill just ignore the rating and go by your words that you enjoyed it
For yms a 6/10 is good, 5/10 is average, I know it's a little different since most reviews will give 'good' movies the popular 7/10 which is just this weird part of review culture I guess
His rating system is more realistic. Everyone else treats a 6/10 and below as basically unwatchable, when in reality a 5/10 means half of the movie is good and enjoyable, half of the movie not so much.
Qwertyuiop adam uses a different rating system (which actually makes a lot more sense) his average is a 5 while most movie reviewers have an average of a 6 or 7
Whoa whoa whoa I enjoyed IT a lot, saw it 3 times in theaters. But to say that it's the best movie of 2017... dude, do you only watch blockbuster Disney/Marvel/DC crap that comes out in theaters? Because if so then yes, IT is the best of 2017.
Pretty much. It had so many things that just weren't needed at all that just dragged it down. It used stupidity to advance the plot like any shit low budget slasher flick, with the kids always walking away alone from the rest of the group. Seriously, that was really annoying. They built so much about Henry then just kill him off. And so on, and on...
Check out Collative Learning/Rob Ager's stuff. He has some shit behind a paywall but he has some good content. Definitely a different approach than YMS and RLM, but I dig all of them maybe you will too.
I was very disappointed with the digital graphics. I’m surprised you liked them. And I didn’t like the “walking slowly toward the thing that is scaring you” horror movie trope. I did like the kids (unusually) and Bill was indeed great
hipnhappenin. What are you talking about the effects, minus the Georgie arm scene, we're the best in years. Name me a horror movie in the past 10 years with better effects than "IT"
“Digital Graphics” ma’am I don’t think you know what your talking about. Digital graphics refer to video games. Special effect refer to that of a film.
Yeah I agree; the clown and the lady from the painting looked very cartoonish a lot of the time. I found that the unrealistic cgi distanced me from the experience.
The scenes would have been so much better without the "BAHJUMM" sound effect. Its being startled is not the same as being scared. Silence can be terrifying, because it adds realism.
Wait, didn’t they have that sheep gun and the spikes to kill It with? I could’ve sworn I heard them say “we got the spikes?” Right before Finn’s character tries breaking a bottle to use but fails. Am I thinking of the wrong scene or did we watch different cuts?
You're thinking of the second confrontation that comes at the end of the movie. Adam is talking about the first confrontation that takes place after the projector scene.
Beverly brought the spike in the first encounter when she heard the others inside were in trouble, and she speared Pennywise through the head to stop him killing Bill and Eddie. She didn't stop Ben from being slashed in the belly, though.
Wait, am I I the only one who thought the bully character was terribly underdeveloped. Like yeah his father beats him and that's why he's so mean, but that was so incredibly cliched and not well developed at all.
From watching Nostalgia Critic's numerous reviews on Stephen King movies, the "murderous bully who's never addressed by adults or faces consequences until a karmic death" I've gotten the impression that that's something of a staple of King's. And yeah, I found the main bully ridiculous too.
4:55 actually yes. That was more realistic to me than telling an adult who would investigate afterwards and find nothing which is a boring cliche. Kids do that.. they freak out and keep their mouth shut. I used to do that at least when I was a kid. I would have taken the blame instead of telling my parents the truth that wouldn‘t make sense to them.
0:57 is it just me or did this get changed because I remember him saying "Allow me to explain" instead of "Let me explain." Is it because he thought he sounded pretentious? Or am I wrong and it was never like this? Or have I transported back to the Beren(stein) universe?
YourMovieSucksDOTorg yea, what kept throwing me off though, and I couldn’t help but laugh each time was his eyes 😂😂 even if it’s a genuine scary moment, I would look at his eyes and laugh a whole lot, but I did like the overall though
tbh the movie walks a pretty fine comedy/horror tightrope. I seriously doubt any of the major horror moments in the film were intended to be ENTIRELY without comedic undertones.
2:25 Yeah, I think the jump scare noise when Pennywise's eyes appear in the sewer wasn't necessary and I think it would've been more effective without a loud musical cue.
I think a good explanation for the fact that they dont tell anyone else about the weird stuff is that they know the monster feeds off of fear so they dont want anyone else to get scared of it and give it more power, just an idea tell me what you think.
2:30 Drag me to hell actually did that better, That scene (a panning shot in particular) where Christine was in her car at the parking lot, the suspense builds and builds until it pans to the silhouette of Mrs Ganush (The "Monster") inside the car in her back seat with the one dead-looking eye, no jump scares, you probably would have liked that scene.
It's strange that he calls it a good film trapped in a great film and only gives it 6/10. The way he reviewed it made me feel like 7 was probably more appropriate
Certainly not a masterpiece, but a film I would have recommended to see in theatres. The audience I was in really made the experience more memorable and enjoyable. Probably one of the best movie experiences of 2017 for me.
5:37 The worst part about that scene is that in the original book, they went to the house twice. The first time, Bill and Richie (the only ones to go) brought Bill's dad's pistol (which didn't work much on It, but they were still smart enough to think of it) and Richie's sneezing powder (jokingly, although it does foreshadow the importance of belief to defeat It, as it is the only weapon to work that day). The second time, the whole group brings Bill's slingshot along with them, as well as two silver balls they made themselves, one of which Beverly uses to almost hit one of Its eyes out, missing by a really small margin. You should really read the book. The TV series from the 1980s actually stayed truer to the book, which is saying something. Seriously, if you're a fan of the book, you'll be very pissed off by the climax of the film, as well as Mike and Stan's roles in the story (ESPECIALLY THEIR FAMILY LIVES).
The Desk It made me sick to my stomach and I was shaking for ten minutes after the scene ended lmao. I tend to be very sensitive to things in horror films that happen to young children so I was horrified.
@@jadesmediacorner I tend to be sensitive about things that've actually happend to me. I an arm injury a year ago wear a table saw sliced my forearm open to the bone. I passed out and I woke up the next day to huge freakin' bandage on my arm.

I agree with most of your points, except the cleaning montage! That scene was one of my favourites in the movie. It was so suprising and entertaining when that happened and that it was tonealy unfitting was kind of the point and it worked for me and everyone I saw it with.
the movie was too overhyped. interviews, too many trailers. I went in with high expectations and got disappointed. pennywise performance was overrated too. ok it was not bad but it wasn't that great either? I enjoyed the performance by tim curry way more.
At the end I was genuinely waiting for Adam's eyes to pop up with a scare-que. My anticipation of it gave me more chills than it should. Good job. Playing there with my imagination like a champ.
That first scene with Georgie and Pennywise was actually terrifying and was one of the few scenes in the movie that Bill Skarsgård’s performance was aloud to be scary and no weird shaky cam effects.

This fucking sentence so perfectly describes this movie for me.
AlexReynard "overexplained villain, bland directing" neither of these describe this movie. Definitely not bland directing.
AlexReynard I'm sorry but the villain isn't very explained at all, so I don't know what you mean.
the cynic it's a shapeshifting demon that feeds on the fear of children and comes back every 27 years. It was pretty well explained.
mitch-bittens so you don't Know the origins or the lore, plus explaining what it is isn't a bad thing. Also it's not a demon
Your name fits you.
@Greeny That be the reason I chose it hahah, thanks!
They should have gotten Kevin Spacey to play penny wise
I feel like the bloody bathroom scene was fitting in a sense that the whole movie is about those kids being in misery and adults not seeing what the problem is. The adults can't see Penny and they can't see the blood, so the kids have to take it into their own hands to deal with it.
But no one can see the blood except the kids- what's the point?
rangers because Beverly probably doesn't want her whole bathroom covered in blood
Just like real life
"The 2015 list will be out next week."
Holy shit. I just remembered that it's 2018.
I thought it was pretty good, the jump scares were annoying but the subtle horror was much better.
The librarian in the background smiling at the camera made me want to crawl out of my seat it was so creepy.
Guy Incognito
They're the only parts that break through the film and actually terrified me.
As Adum said the projector scene was the best horror scene I've seen that... I will probably not watch again because it's fucking terrifying.
I still don't get the title of this film. Like literally no nerd guys, no computer programming, not even basic algorithms.
What is it called IT then, huh?
...maybe it was based off of the title of the book.
Landontuber No, clearly it is based on information technology.

Man, I can't imagine how awesome it must've been for the kids who watch you to hear that part at 1:38. As someone who has done quite a bit of acting in theater in high school, hearing Adam commend my performances would make me so happy, because you know, when Adam praises something, it's fucking good.
"Why do we need a sonic adventure 3!!!"
If there's a reason to scream then that's it. Getting an arm eaten off and being dragged into the abyss is nothing compared to that.
Lol, accidentally wrote "cream" instead of scream there.
The kid actors were pretty good, especially the actor who played Georgie. Most kid actors at his age are either average or plain bad.
BUT this kid did a surprisingly good job, especially when he did the creepy kid trope.
AtrocityEquine the scenes he was in sucked. The basement scene was just fucking dumb and could have been much better if it wasn’t directed by a moron.
Yeah I really wish we got to see Cary Fukunaga's version. The little kid was honestly amazing, but not as well directed as he could have been. Wasted his talent.
Modern kid actors *
Check out Freddie Bartholomew in "Captain's Courageous" - he is only a kid but his acting surpasses any actor living today.
cookiechomp me to but they just had to go mainstream with the movie. I guess it worked people like Adam are eating it up. It’s mindless and only slightly better than most horror movies.
drokelertalk I wasn't aware that horror movies are supposed to be intellectual.

I laughed my arse off at it
I just viewed the whole movie as a comedy and it is better that way (the trailer kinda forced that upon me but man it's so much better that way)
@@silverfang4583 The second movie was more of a comedy to me, I like to view this one as an all genre film; it's a fantasy, a horror, a romance, a teen film, a coming of age story, a sci-fi, a comedy, a drama. It's great.

the cinematography was done by the same guy who did those Park Chan-Wook movies like Oldboy and The Handmaiden, which probably accounts for why this film is so well shot.

The montage where they cleaned the blood probably gave me the biggest laugh of the movie, because it was so ridiculously out of place and it caught me off guard.
*second* biggest laugh of the film
or have you forgotten how pennywise moves it on the dance floor?
It was just a random The Cure music video, nothing wrong with that.
It was almost as funny as the projector scene in my opinion.
Saleh Ali I bet everyone laughed at that scene it was so dumb. Even the scary face pennywise was supposed to have when jumping out was hilarious.
drokelertalk Seriously, I saw this with my friend who hates horror movies. She just doesn't like jumpscares or even some subtle horror-- we mostly laughed (or stifled our laughter) all the way through.
I sat next to a girl and her boyfriend and they were making out every 20 seconds. Also, the guy kept going “OH THIS IS THE (blank) PART!” or “THIS IS WHERE (blank) HAPPENS!!”
the same thing happened to me. some loud girl gang behind me kept gasping every 5 seconds
They should have just gotten Sammy Classic sonic fan to play that sewer kid
He didn't die for you to call him "that sewer kid" >:/
Oh boy your going to hate the next part.
The book itself was just too weird to be adapted fully. The 2nd part was ok but not as good as the first. Personally didn’t enjoy. Plus no orgy scene so I’m very let down.
Ni lol JK *excuse me WHAT was that?*
@@elderberryva9282 You really don't want to know, I'm serious.
This was one of my favourite films of 2017, the most fun I've had with a horror flick in a while (Plus the cast were all a blast to watch)
Yeah I just watched this and the actors were great. Totally agree with Adam about young yellow jacket kid's performance later in the movie
Aaron Southan This was my favourite movie of the year, absolutely loved it.
The emoji movie
For instance “hey, EGG BOI!”
Or the projector scene, which was fucking perfect..
where you saw IT, and you where like “oh shit” in your head, then the kids start screaming amping you up so your like “OH SHHIT!” Then just as you realise there’s no real danger they play on it and fin goes “WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!? WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!” “Idontfuckingknow!”
So the scare is lessened at this point, but the intensity and the fun stays. Also the amazing sense of awesomeness stays.
That’s something that I loved about this movie, it’s a thriller more than a scary movie...
It's kind of hinted at when the people just drive by and ignore Ben being attacked near the bridge.
That’s one aspect of the book I wish the film focused more on-the adults not being able, or refusing, to acknowledge that something is wrong with the town.

The only scene that scared me in this movie was Beverly and her father. That legit had me shaking and I couldn't move. People are terrifying.
The use of music in this film is like an Amy schumer joke.
Yeah
This film was shot beautifully. Right from the title card it was so slick and nice to look at. The actors dialogue was meh but quite funny at the best of times, and I agree that the performances were serviceable for child actors.
The post production noise was quite annoying... It's a cheap way to get an easily scared audience invested, but the film did it's 'creepy' bits really well, so I'm not gonna complain too much.
I honestly loved it, even as someone who isn't a huge fan of horror! I'd give it an 8/10
Aldrich Leblanc who says he isn’t a huge fan of horror? He could like it and still be a huge horror fan
Why is no one talking about the stone throwing scene? It felt so unnatural how the stones just jumped of peoples heads. That's not how stones work
TheNumber999 I'm gonna be honest I myself haven't seen stones thrown at somebody's head so I wouldn't know what that's like
TheNumber999
Let's be reasonable here, who here has seen stones thrown at someone's head?
Sure, but I'm fairly certain our head are not made of rubber. Apart from that, I think getting a stone the size of your hand thrown in your head can make you go "ouch" and then run off. I'm pretty sure it would knock you out. I liked the movie, this one scene just seemed kinda.. bad?
TheNumber999 And the green screen was GOD AWFUL when Stan, Beverly, and Ben were throwing the stones at the camera
+Ding_Us God, yes. I hate that people are over praising this film. It wasn't even close to the book and that scene made me cringe.

As a Movie IT is good. As a Stephen King Adaption IT is a Masterpiece in comparison with the 220 cancerous other Films.
Really? Including Stand By Me, Shawshank Redemption and The Shining?
I didn't say all of them are shit, but there are over 200 and only like 10 - 20 of them are good.
Yeah, and this IT (not the miniseries) is one of 'em.
Agreed, it's in my personal top 10. And the Miniseries was godawful.
John R Why? The miniseries is not even scary. And you can't defend the stupid spider at the end.
The movie felt a bit cheesy but I think hey we’re going for a “80’s nostalgia slice of life with horror” kinda thing rather than straight horror.

Steve J Donahue definitely
Pretty much.
It had so many things that just weren't needed at all that just dragged it down.
It used stupidity to advance the plot like any shit low budget slasher flick, with the kids always walking away alone from the rest of the group. Seriously, that was really annoying.

Frame By Frame 101 but he said digital!! 😩
Yeah I agree; the clown and the lady from the painting looked very cartoonish a lot of the time. I found that the unrealistic cgi distanced me from the experience.
I don’t get why Pennywise looks like that when he bites Georgie’s arm off. It isn’t scary, just really stupid.
Richard Grayson ohhh my mistake then. Carry on, Adam!
Richard Grayson The first confrontation screen had my butthole squeezed in for dear life.
Yeah, but when climbing down the well they dropped the spikes.
Beverly brought the spike in the first encounter when she heard the others inside were in trouble, and she speared Pennywise through the head to stop him killing Bill and Eddie. She didn't stop Ben from being slashed in the belly, though.
Can’t wait for the 2015 list

why do we need A SONIC ADVENTURE 3?!
2019: WHY DO WE NEED A SONIC MOVIE?!
Mateo Alvarez yes, they really could've included more from the book. The way they only included the abuse just made it come across as very cliched.
Quick Content + Adam = Me There
I think the cleaning was a group character development.
thovlasslayer yeah but it was really cheezy with the music. If felt off tone to a horror film with a reall upbeat montage
I had my eyes and ears covered the entire time. I give it a 10/10
I’m surprised you didn’t find some of the parts that were suppose to be scary, funny
Part of it were both of those things but I didn't feel as though it was unfitting. I mean, he's a clown and all.
Dancing pennywise
YourMovieSucksDOTorg yea, what kept throwing me off though, and I couldn’t help but laugh each time was his eyes 😂😂 even if it’s a genuine scary moment, I would look at his eyes and laugh a whole lot, but I did like the overall though
tbh the movie walks a pretty fine comedy/horror tightrope. I seriously doubt any of the major horror moments in the film were intended to be ENTIRELY without comedic undertones.
Sonic Adventure 3 is pretty serious though.
& Knuckles

Thanks for this. Hyped for the 2015 list !

Major ouchies! I actually held my arm when I got to this scene. It didn't scare me, but I did almost get sick.
The Desk It made me sick to my stomach and I was shaking for ten minutes after the scene ended lmao. I tend to be very sensitive to things in horror films that happen to young children so I was horrified.

I tend to be sensitive about things that've actually happend to me. I an arm injury a year ago wear a table saw sliced my forearm open to the bone. I passed out and I woke up the next day to huge freakin' bandage on my arm.
the only thing the blood cleanup scene did was make Stan's OCD more obvious
I love this movie & usually I'm impartial or agree with your reviews but I was honestly pretty interested to hear what you had to say here! I'm happy you didn't hate it but I would give it at leeeast a 7/10 :)
Pretty sure the blood cleaning scene is an homage to the first mini series
He knows that. He means the tone and playfulness that really didn't fit.
Its in the book too. Not just the miniseries.
4:30 I just can never take Skarsgard seriously with his derp eyes, that are magnified in that bite scene.
I thoroughly enjoy every video you make. You are a gem.
CLOWNS
BALLOONS
FINN WOLFHARD
What can go wrong?
In all fairness, the bathroom cleaning scene gave me “Six different ways” which is currently one of my favourite songs
Now I can finally decide if I liked this movie.
One of my favorite channels, always enjoy your review. Doing a marathon of all videos with friends hooray.
I agree with most of your points, except the cleaning montage! That scene was one of my favourites in the movie. It was so suprising and entertaining when that happened and that it was tonealy unfitting was kind of the point and it worked for me and everyone I saw it with.
Yaaay, a bideo

I always wonder what this film would've been if Cary Joji Fokunaga stayed on as director... If only, if only.
the movie was too overhyped. interviews, too many trailers. I went in with high expectations and got disappointed. pennywise performance was overrated too. ok it was not bad but it wasn't that great either? I enjoyed the performance by tim curry way more.
0:13 "Now I really wasn't that excited for this movie at all..."
You and me both, brother.
At the end I was genuinely waiting for Adam's eyes to pop up with a scare-que.
My anticipation of it gave me more chills than it should. Good job. Playing there with my imagination like a champ.
Dat thumbnail though.... it’s a masterpiece
JT Nixon That's an actual screenshot from the movie.
It's nothing special. Pretty much everyone uses it lol
the way you talked abput it didn't sound like a 6 out of 10. more like a 7 or 8.
Why do we neED *A SONIC ADVENTURE 3!?*
That first scene with Georgie and Pennywise was actually terrifying and was one of the few scenes in the movie that Bill Skarsgård’s performance was aloud to be scary and no weird shaky cam effects.
jumpscares are the movie equivalent of saying to someone "what's that on your shirt" and flicking them in the face
