      Right back at ya. Thanks mate. Looking at a San Quentin for the Missus once stock becomes available. They look amazing.

      @@JoshPhillipsFF she will love it mate. They are such a fun and versatile bike. I’m a fat dude so was blasting through the travel on the forks so upped it to a 150mm airshaft and put in a couple of tokens. Rides mint now.

    hey mate great video! i got two questions about the bike. Firstly what size is your one? Secondly do you think its capable of handling a downhill race?

    • @JoshPhillipsFF
      @JoshPhillipsFF  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate, Cheers! I'm 183cm and got a Large. It's been more than capable racing the Gravity Enduro in WA last season. Given that and what I've seen videos of Martha Gill and Matt Jones ride with it, I'd say it's well and truly capable.

      Cheers mate! Just out of Geraldton. Private trails at the moment but we're hoping to get them open in the not too distant future.

    Nice bike. What oval chain is that and did you have to change your chain or anything? Looking for an oval chain for mine as well

    • @JoshPhillipsFF
      @JoshPhillipsFF  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers. It's the Absolute Black Oval, FSA/Cannondale direct mount model. Didn't have to change the chain. Highly recommend!

    Dude, you wear gloves but no knee pads!? Crazy 😜 Great video though. I’m getting a Super Deluxe coil on my Status 160 (got a Zeb upfront already), looking forward to riding a coil shock 🤘

    • @JoshPhillipsFF
      @JoshPhillipsFF  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha fair comment. I wear kneepads when racing or on new trails. These particular trails have a lot of climbing though so I just get too hot.
      Oh sick. They look like fun bikes! Loving the coil.

      @@JoshPhillipsFF touché! I forget that there’s some parts of the planet not covered in mud and generally cold, in the UK we wear knee pads for protection and warmth 🤣

      Hahaha! Yeah I wear gloves mainly because my hands get too sweaty from the heat. 😂

    Are you planning to do a long term review? General comments on how the bikes held up for a year? Thanks!

    • @JoshPhillipsFF
      @JoshPhillipsFF  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Riley, I was planning to but don't have a computer with video editing capabilities any more.
      The biker had been amazing. Has held up super well to a full year of racing the wa gravity Enduro series, as well as all the training and riding that covers with that.
      There where quite a few muddy rounds, so I've recently replaced all the pivot bearings and I had to replace the front wheel bearings after a couple of those real wet races.
      Only things I've upgrade are the brake levers and the rear wheel (due to smashing the stock one too hard) everything else has remained stock. Happy to answer any questions you have about it.

    Hey mate wondering if you would recommend this as a first bike? It's a lot of money but I also don't want to waste money on something cheaper just to have to upgrade shortly after.

    • @JoshPhillipsFF
      @JoshPhillipsFF  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fair question mate, what style of riding do you plan on doing? My bike previous to this was the Rift Zone 2 which is a brilliant bike. If I wasn't racing enduro, I would have had no reason to upgrade from that.

    • @CoolKillkennyCat
      @CoolKillkennyCat 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love jumps drops and nice flowy trails, but I've only ever used crappy hardtails second hand for $50 so its hard to enjoy every when wrist feel you've been using a jackhammer for a week after 30m. I do enjoy a more flickable motorbike and I was sold on the 2020 alpine trail but I worry the new 2021 is bit bulky and long/less playful kinda thing.

    • @JoshPhillipsFF
      @JoshPhillipsFF  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CoolKillkennyCat yeah ok. Definitely a decent quality dual suspension will do you well then. The Alpine Trail is an amazing bike. It's definitely noticeably heavier than the Rift Zone but it's also waaay more stable and supportive. Since having it I've smashed all my downhill PB's and got pretty close to my XC ones. On jumps and drops it really shines, it is slightly less playful in corners but it also feels like it's guiding you through them, I don't reach for the brakes nearly as much anymore. Hope that helps.
