New Bike Day!!! First look at the brand new 2021 Marin Alpine Trail XR. In this video I go over some of the basics of the bike and give you a review while riding at Rockville Hills Regional Park in Fairfield, CA. At the end I give some advice when looking into upgrading or purchasing a new bike and why I chose this bike.

Congrats on the new bike was looking at one myself, a tad to much travel for where I would ride 80% of the time(something in the range of 150mm front/ 140mm back is a better fit).New Scriber here, look forward to more content from ya. Cheers....

Quite a change from the Trek! Had you ridden any 29ers before this? Definitely handle differently. The first thing you realize is you have to weight the front in the corners. Once you do they handle pretty good. But always an adjustment period especially coming off that dinosaur Trek.
Yea I was actually able to ride a hardtail and a full suspension both 29ers. Definitely love the fact i can roll over everything lol. Still getting used to it but I love the ride

Looks great! I've been really looking at this bike for a while. Is it ridiculously hard to climb or just kinda difficult?
It's definitely an awesome bike. The climbing isn't too difficult, definitely not easy but very doable. I do notice climbing is a little difficult with more technical and tight turns. Just added an oval ring and man it made a noticeable difference all around

So they both have the same components, differences being XR is aluminum, RockShox fork with rear coil, and Carbon 2 being carbon, of course, Fox fork and air shock and is about $600 more. Also the biggest factor is what's actually available lol
what is the bike size ? and how much do you weight ? Because based on Marin description you need to change the spring if you don't fit within their range, BTW for S/M they provide 300lbs and for L/XL they provide 450 lbs, example if you weight 180lbs, then 400lbs spring rate will suit you better.

Would you recommend this hike for a local loop trail? I want a bike that will do it all planing on taking it to parks, but I’ll mostly be riding loop trails with equal climbing, flats and downs.
It really depends on what they trail has on it. This bike is definitely a good bike for bike parks and chunky tech. It's not the greatest climber but it does get the job done. If the loop your plan on mainly riding is a green or blue trail then this bike might be too much bike for easy trails. It kind of sounds like you migh want/need a all mountain bike, the Marin Alpine Trail XR is an enduro bike.
