- I swapped all my parts onto the XR frame and mulleted it out! I have no idea how slack this is, but.. a lot! Hahaha it's ridiculous amounts of fun. I snuck in a quick session at the Sweat Equity zone and then smashed out a lap on a fun tech trail on my way home.

I set up my bike as a mullet two years ago. I like the extra room behind the seat for steep rides or high speed when you have to scrub a jump. I wish more bike manufacturers set up their bikes to run a mullet from the factory.

Mullet is awesome. I mulleted my Levo. Frickin love it! So much easier to turn and throw around the back end. If your BB is low, flip your chip to the high setting to offset the mullet BB drop.
Thanks for the tip! I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean by "flip the chip" though. Time to research.
@@MarkMatthewsMTB I think he means the "chip" that some bikes have to alter the geometry, giving you a "high" and "low" geo settings. Fairly sure Marins don't have a flip chip. Love the videos!

I have a specialized status and Decoy shred, love the mullet, hate the pedal strikes. I feel like the sag in the rear slows things down just enough to keep the party safe.
I feel like it makes me faster.. maybe it's just the slackness making everything easy to roll over haha

I have a pivot switchblade designed for 29ers but can fit 27.5s.. tried straight 27.5s but hated the bumpiness however loved the playfulness. Tried mullet... never turned back!!

Lovin the mullet setup, is your frame a size up or size down, i ask this as i am and see alot of others inbetween frame sizes?
I just built a super enduro in XL Privateer alloy frame with Zebs and was considering a Large Carbon build with Lyrik and a 29/27.5 mullet as another fun option aswell.
I always size down because I am only 5'6" so small always tends to be the way to go. Sounds like a fun setup!

Hey thanks! It might be the negative spring ya. I have been running the Suntour EQ stuff for awhile and I've never had that issue, it's a huge upgrade.
Ever since I got my Rallon it's stayed stock, not really needed to change anything. However, I want to do a mullet set up so bad. I'm just gonna get so many pedal strikes it's going to drive me insane/cause a gnarly crash that I don't think it's gonna be worth it. :'(
the BB drop is quite minimal I'd say it's worth it!!
Hey brother. So I just picked up a 21 alpine and I’m curious how you made up for the Geo. Can you link me to what ever angle kit or what ever you used for your build? It’s coming with a spare 27.5 wheel but I don’t want to do it unless it’s right.
I just used offsetbushings.com installed upside down but the geo is still a little off. I was testing a few things out to give feedback to Marin and I wouldn't 100% recommend it. It's super fun but the BB still sits a bit too low.

Hello, Are there any updates concerning the bushings ? Do the bushings keep their position or do they rotate? Which bushings did you use ? 8mm, 6mm offset ? what is the effective difference in the BB ?
I honestly noticed zero difference so now I’m just running it normal as a mullet and it just feels slightly lower

is it better with spring or with the air shock ?
I prefer the air because I am more used to the feel of it and the 350lb spring shock that comes stock on the small frame is too soft for my riding style.

I'm considering putting a 27.5 on the rear of my XR. did you ever go back? How was the change from 29" to 27.5"? Worth it? I'd love to be a touch lower to the ground on mine.

Directly from suntour but the Grey isn't available to public, only black. The black looks sick too though! I plan on building a stealth bike later this year

Yes. I’m only 5’6” with short legs so 29 rear wheels aren’t for me. I wanted to make it more enduro too as I this is my biggest travel bike and I want it as DH feeling as possible

I wouldn’t recommend it, my bb sits too low. I use an offset bushing installed upside down to help but but it’s still a bit off.

I'm experimenting with offset bushings but it's not totally dialed.
Does anybody do a toboggan heelclicker? Seems like that would make it easier to bring your heels together.
Lol friends and I joked about that years ago. It wouldn't work, at least well, because they are like polar opposites. With heel clickers you are jumping forward over the bike and dropping the back end, with toboggans you are learning back and pushing the front wheel down.
