@@digitaljulesw3875 This is not true at all, and the extreme opposite! Jamaican food is naturally healthy and not high in fat, sugar, or salt. Most Jamaicans do not eat at fast food places, even when they can afford to, they prefer to cook. Also every meal or dinner comes with a vegetable!
Loving the videos Mark. Thanks for highlighting this important part of out culture that is often over looked. Jamaica is known as the Land of Wood and Water, there is so much natural herbs, spices and foods grown here and its such a shame that alot of our people dnt take advantage of what we have. Bless up and stay safe.
My father use to eat ackee raw the way he loved it, every Sunday morning ackee and salt fish and fry dumplings or roast breadfruit. Yellow Heart is the best.
This was an enjoyable show! You can feel the love and kindness of the hosts. I loved seeing how all the plants had a purpose and the gorgeous, healthy diet.
Mark I've been watching you for a while now and I just subbed after seeing you travel to this remote section of the island which not many travellers are brave and willing to venture into. I am an American, with Jamaican heritage, that grew up in Wichita, Kansas USA. I am 30 years old and have visited the island a few times. My last occurance was at 16 years old in 2006-2007ish. Sorry my memory is a bit faded. However, I am familiar with all the foods you ate in Jamaica since my mother cooks a lot of those recipes. It is the best food in the world and I'd bet my life on it! My mother is a Jamaican woman born and raised there until she was 17. She immigrated to the states back in 1982 and started my family with my older brother being born on Halloween in 1984. She goes back to visit my distant family occasionally. She has a cousin (my 2nd cousin) that lives in Annotto Bay which is on the north-east side of the island. She is also a great cook! You may ask how we ended up in Kansas. My father was in the US Army for nearly 30 years and ultimately had his last few Army Jobs here in Wichita as an Army Reservist in conjunction with working in aircraft at what is now known as Textron Aviation (Raytheon back in the mid-late 90's). He retired in 2017 as a Master Sergeant (E8). My father is a caucasian man and my mother an ebony woman. That's how Bob Marley's parents were despite him not knowing his father. The father of Reggae music, Count Ozzie, was a distant relative of mine that died long before I was born so I never met him. He was the eldest of thirteen or so siblings and my grandmother's (mom's mother) eldest brother. He died tragically in a car accident and never rose to fame like Bob Marley did (though he died young too). He's still a legend to many Jamaicans though. Especially those in their 50's on up in age. Ask a Jamaican who Count Ossie is and you'll see what I mean. Any middle-aged Jamaican, and older, will know trust me. I have been blessed to have tasted the greatest food on the planet which is Jamaican food. I want everyone in the world to taste it because it is criminally underrated! Some may ask why I haven't been back in so long. To answer that question: I enlisted in the Kansas Army National Guard back in October 15th, 2019 and I'm waiting for a new ship-out date to Basic Combat Training (BCT) due to complications I experienced when I swore in and due to the recent viral pandemic across the world. Yes it is relatively late of me to enlist at such an age but I'm going in as a Private First Class (E3). Also, I am committed to sign a contract for ROTC at the university I attend in Wichita, Kansas to earn a commission as a Second Lieutenant and to earn my first bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. My older brother enlisted as a Specialist (E4) in 2009 and he is now a Captain (O3) today in 2020 and aspire to be like him: a leader. That is why I have not been back to Jamaica yet. I'll make it a priority to go back to Jamaica when I'm done doing some aspects of training as a soldier and once I've earned my college degree. In the meantime, I'll continue to work my job as a Table Games Dealer at the casino I'm employed at and I'll keep watching your videos to satisfy my culutural cravings. You keep doing you my dude! I love your passion and appreciation for the finer and subtle things in life. You have a gift and you are blessed. Thank you for sharing your experience to the world. It was this video that compelled me to write this long comment I wrote. For those that read this entire thing, thank you and I appreciate it. Everyone have a wonderful day! Peace.

Lol Facts
This is the best episode ever.. that old man is incredibly great intellectual.. love him so much..
Exactly
🇯🇲🇬🇭🇯🇲🇬🇭 One love my people. Ital living 🙏🏾
Why 100 dislikes. Too many bad mind haters out there, people don't want to see humans interact & share their culture. Anyway bless up Mark keep up the good work.
People hate regardless but 164 dislike to 6.7k likes is a good ratio i think
So many reasons people dislike a video. Someone might enjoy it but get annoyed about one small aspect and dislike. Petty but it happens.
98.5% likes focus on the positives
@seven of love The man is Asian not European. And that's because most of us don't speak their language.

Lol I know right, I ate Ackee in my childhood days but never knew it was a Jamaican signature dish. I'm from st Maarten.
@@beloved_1vp298 ackee is the national dish of Jamaica sir
Why you don’t let your wife talk? This is so selfishness...
I'm Jamaican in America now I'm sad

Growing up the amount of cocoa I had to patch ... it made ur fingers hurt lol and when there was no milk we used coconut milk to thicken it to make the tea. God you are good you have blessed us Caribbean ppl, where we could plant these trees right in our backyards. The mangoes, guavas, cashews, cashema, plantains, bananas etc ... lord thank you
I see Mark Wiens video, it's a straight "click on that"

Oh really I'm Jamaican 🇯🇲 you should so go ahead and do it if that's what you want you won't regret it
Looking at this simple food from the earth, no extras, just the pure goodness of what nature provides. Makes me want to pick up and move directly to this place!
This Jamaica series really got me hooked, one love💞
I want to live there! ❤️ food is medicine and medicine is food! ❤️
Makes me want to be a rockstar eater in Jamaica! Yeah, man.
Most Jamaica don't eat as healthy they copy American and eat crap now.
@@digitaljulesw3875 not most Jamaicans, America has made a mark for sure but Jamaicans still eat their food daily.
Self reliant, kind and beautiful people with breathtaking nature. MaashAllah.
They are not missing a thing from the Coronavirus world.
Well done.
We call it kyeraa in Ghana 🇬🇭. I love it
This was an enjoyable show! You can feel the love and kindness of the hosts. I loved seeing how all the plants had a purpose and the gorgeous, healthy diet.
Longest streak of videos come from JAMAICA. We have our challenges but May i say, it'sbest nation on earth...🇯🇲
Mark, you should become a honorary citizen of Jamaica now. This has been an amazing series.
Very true .non of them try to do anything like this
True! I've seen his other videos visiting many other places in Jamaica Helshire, Port Antonio, Mobay etc.
Ilovedoggie tsia I’m speaking specifically to this series..
Natural Beauty... Natural foods of Jamaica. Simply beautiful.
Thanks for sharing.
Peace.
