  • in this video we explain how to check oxygen sensor signal circuit and wiring integrity before change a new oxygen sensor. simply use the digital output signal of a multimeter to simulate signal and input to the oxygen sensor signal circuit. then we are able to see the signal in the scan tool on oxygen sensor data PID if there is no any issue on wires or ECM signal circuit.
    link for how to check oxygen sensor heater circuit pulsation.

    Thanks Ravi, quick and easy test, I had not seen a DVM with a square wave output feature before.

      Most Low cost DVM has this option.

    Hi, good info, Thanks. I see that multimeter is a UNI-T 33D. I don't think those are made anymore. Any other multimeters with output. And how much voltage is being outputed. I am a little concerned about sending volts into the ECU with out knowing the specifics. These O2 sensors send mili-amps, so not much power there. Put another way could too much voltage damage the ECU?

      Multimeter is a perfect device for this test. It is just produces lower than 3v square waves signal. ECM is completely safe.
      This circuit is totally protected. Normally we send even battery voltage to test the integrity. Signal circuit only gets max 1.5v

    How do I differentiate between integrity issue or ECU issue?

    • @ravifixall
      @ravifixall  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you see the given signal in the scan data means wiring and ecu are ok. If signal not reach to the scanner mean you have to check wiring integrity first. If wiring is ok, problem goes to the ecu.

    What's the wiring harness called? My O2 sensor wires are fine but where the end wire of the sensor meet with the rest the wire that goes to the car is brittle and broken. That's the part I need a name.

    how can i find the signal wires?

    • @ravifixall
      @ravifixall  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Connect your test light in to battery positive and provide a voltage through the test light in to the oxygen sensor each wire of 4 wires while look at the O2 sensor data pid in the scan tool. When your test light find the Signal wire, O2 sensor signal will rise up, for better view, put it in to the graph mode. Hope you make sense.

    my car has p0137 error, where should i put the tester? 2 white wires which are the heater wires and those are good but for the signal wires i need to use the other 2 signal wires to test it like you did? im a noobie 🤣

      You need a obd scanner too.

    Ya real simple and easy when you have all these different coloured wires sprawled about and arnt even probing the actual connector to the oxygen sensor like shut up lol

    Ravi sir the multimeter must set to dc voltage or what I don't understand please help me sir

      There is voltage output signal options in the multimeter. Tune the multimeter in to that option and provide that signal to the O2 sensor signal circuit. But I don’t know this option available on your multimeter!

      In fact I was confused in the first place like you you got to buy a multimeter which have this mode which can produce a digital signal output every i have two good multimeter, but don't have thus function you can search in Google for this type of multimeter not expensive ok search for multimeter with signal output ok 😉 ❤

      Thanks for teaching this now I got it that I have to get a multimeter with this option thanks your teaching of oscilloscope is good to please sir don't stop teaching may GOD bless you and your famally with everything you need amen hallelujah 🙏 ❤
