crikey, has youtube given you my formal name? i'm known to my friends as ali.. yeah, your blog definitely helped me to pin the vehicle down, took a few berlingos out for test drives but wasn't vibing with them at all.. the kangoo i bought has wheelchair access so the floor is lowered with only one seat to remove.. thank you so much for the offer of help (you may regret that haha) enjoy those coffees and i will defo send pictures when finished.. keep on being free marina.. breathe in each sunrise and sunset..

It's amazing how a small vehicle can be turned into a camper. And I can bet it's MUCH more reliable than a 40-years old Volkswagen Van!
Don't know if it's true, but someone said, because the vw's engine is in the rear, there's an equal amount of living space in both vans. The vw's bed makes use of the space above the engine, but, otherwise, they are very close.
Renaults are absolutely not more reliable than a VW camper. see how many of these are around in 40 years.

Love the update, not a huge difference but little things to make it more practical. Impressive how much storage u have.
For other people watching this video with the same question in mind: the bed is 1.5 meters long. The bed would be too short, and the ceiling a wee low.
I really love the way you built the bed so that it extends. It looks much better than any of the setups I was daydreaming of this week. I'm in awe at the quality of the finish. Amazing work!
Love what you have done . Really like the roof fan .One warning don't let anything fall on your glass hob/sink top( like your mug ) . I dropped a glass on one and it exploded into thousands of little bits of glass . Have fun on your travels and I look forward to seeing your blogs etc

Ahhh wow! As a fellow Kangoo camper I am so jealous of your conversion! My MOT is next week though and I'm worried for it. If I have to get another I'll be using this as inspiration for sure!

You did a great job. I love it. I’ve been looking at small vans- like the Nissan NV 200 and the Ford Connect- or evening a minivan. I love that you make Jewelry- I do as well though I haven’t done so in years. Distractions of life got in the way. I still have all my equipment and supplies and was thinking about van life and how I could supplement my Social Security. I have been wanting to start jewelry making again so running into your channel was fortuitous!

Such a lovely conversion. I really like how you made the stove/sink a flat top - when not in use. You probably already know this - if your slider doors gets sticky, try rubbing the bottom with wax paper :)

The only other van conversions I've seen are from ones much bigger than that . With my own van , It is not much bigger than yours. I'm glad to see you made it work so well. Great idea with the shower.

Very good idea! I will copy your design to transform my cargo Renault Express. The main difference is that I have a divider that you cannot remove due to legalities in Portugal. Also I only have the back doors. It will be a real challenge!

Lovely conversion. Just thought I'd mention that I think carbon monoxide detectors are meant to be kept lower to the ground, and closer to the gas in something as small as a van, but I'm not 100% sure about this as my source of this information wasn't an established one. Cheers and happy travels.

Just found your channel I have small camper Doblo and the boss (terrier) sleeps at the bottom of bed till I fall asleep the creeps up along side me we both love wilding just back from Brecon Beacons .safe travels
Brilliant van , one note on energy saving, try and get some usb sockets installed as you’re stepping up from 12v to 240v back down to 5v which is a major waste of energy!!
True! i do have usb sockets on the inverter itself, does that count? :) I will plan my next build better :)
that library at the end is really cute, I would put in a plexi glass door or something to prevent the books from getting rained on or something...
and I think I would get a sink with one of those little pull out showerheads for a tap, eve if and when you only get cold water from the tap, it would be helpfulll to give the dog and any gear that may have gotten muddy a quick rinse or give your hair a quick wash if there are no gyms and such around
Hi Lianne, those are both very good suggestions! I'd totally have that pull out shower head if the tanks were a little bigger (right now i only have 10 lt tanks!)
yeah, bigger tanks might be handy for that, though you wouldn't have to use it for every shower you take, if there are gyms and such around, but even just having it there for the "just in case" situations, especially with a dog since dogs love playing in mud and muck, so just having the option of being able to give the dog a quick rinse before letting him/ her in you van home would be great I think

Just love your conversion Marina. I’ve just bought a Kangoo Maxi with a folding back seat so will have to unfold the bed over it, and accommodate a Dometic drawer fridge. Your kitchen is perfect and the little table a real bonus. Looking forward to more inspiring ideas from you, safe travels.

This is even more beautiful than the first conversion! You've inspired me to travel around in my old Toyota Previa with a friend last year. I'm secretly looking for a Kangoo now, because I thought the Toyota was almost too big haha xD. I hope to one day have the courage to travel around by myself in a car, just like you are! :)

You've done a good job there Marina. If Odie is anything like my Timmy you will need the bigger bed because even though he is only half my size he some how manages to take twice as much bed as me. The cooker/sink unit looks a better idea than the old one too.

Just wanted to let you know that the doors can slide easier if you put some paste wax on the rails and also on the bottom of the doors. Just rub some on and it makes the surface very slippery. Not sure if you know this but I thought it might help. Really nice job you did on the van. Brilliant!

Great build! All things are though out. One thing i would add, roof rack with water tanks. You could have more space inside and you wouldnt need a water pump ;)
