The biggest disconnect between this shoe and sneakerheads is people that actually know spider man and the comic book style versus just shoes. All the materials on this shoe are a direct reference to comic book paper/panels and the multiverse theme in the movies. These are fire 🔥

These shoes are featured in multiverse movie
As a comic fan and sneaker fan I love them, and hope people hate them on release and they "brick" for resellers. For the name, the last one was Origin Story, so these are the next ones, aka follow up so Next Chapter in the Spider-Man sneaker story, so completely makes sense. As for the mix of materials and patterns, the plot of the movie is going through all kinds of animation styles and Spider-Man universes, so they are taking multiple textures/animation styles and mashing them into one like they are in the movie. So the shoe design concept makes 100% sense.

Got mine yesterday. Amazing shoe. The first one was extremely safe with basically being a Chicago 1 with the speckles across it. This actually feels like a collaboration and represents the movie better with the materials/patterns
Also, yes the shoe does glow in the dark

i mean of course youre going to have a little trouble finding the reasonings for the panelings if you havent watched spiderverse, one look at the shoe and one look at the movie you can clearly see how visually similar they are and thats what i really like about it. that brighter red that you were confused about on the leather is a parallel to the more saturated colours used in the movie
i mean you can spend $700 on a movie shoe then you can probably pay like 10 bucks to watch the movie before reviewing

You're spot on with the dots - that's the Ben-Day printing technique. Also the bigger dots and the wings logo feature chromatic aberration, which is used extensively throughout the movie. As per the mismatched panels - the dimension hopping in these movies moves so fast that you often have dimensions (and therefore animation medium) changing from frame to frame, sometimes you even have multiple dimensions featured simultaneously within a single frame.
Definitely switched my mind about these. I initially hated them when I saw first images of them. And now I’ve changed my mind bc it is a Chicago colorway at the end of the day. While I don’t appreciate the price but I do appreciate the diff materials used and the Spider-Man storyline behind it. Great review by Seth once again 👏

I cant believe I just watched a review about a shoe where Seth knew almost nothing about it. Love your videos but if all I took away was the list of materials I would of read the website description. Thank you to the people in the comments who did a better job explaining them.
I think the red to white glow could symbolize Miles and his invisibility power he has. Would be a neat detail!

There's a few videos on the Nike SNKRS app that interview the designer and team from Across the Spiderverse. These are definitely a shoe for comic-loving-sneakerheads. Got mine ordered and can't wait. Also looking a second pair when they release in UK on May 20th

Be careful with the paint on toe area. I guess it peels off easily. One guy bought the sneaker just yesterday and went back to the store for replacement because of the issue, glad it was replaced in abrupt.
I need a chicago made with the leather there using by the toe. That red leather might be the best leather I ever seen. I haven't seen them in hand but damn it looks good from here

I think these are great in the sense that people have a better chance of picking these up for retail, or they get them for resale that's not stupid high
I think it'll be a similar thing to the origin story where it hovers around 3-400 for a while then spikes once hype for 1s comes back

Exactly, they went for the concept of the movie and mashing multi animation styles with the mashing of materials. As a fan of the movie I love the concept and hope they brick for resellers and the people that want them can actually get them for retail

I really like these I have 2 pairs being delivered today.. 🤗. The different panels are 🔥. I'm glad the hype beasts dont like them and the price is pretty low. 1 pair to wear and 1 to sit on for a few years to either sell or wear again 👍.

Best Jordan one's for a long time
the rainbow effect reminds me of an actual spider web in the sun light. these being a marvel collab is pretty big imo. the white/ silver glow reminds me yet again of a spider web. best part is these are cheap and im def picking up a pair. people need to learn to not follow the hype train and buy what you actually like. im also buying the union bbs jordan 1's. not only are those sick but they are cheap as hell too. i also picked up the lava glow, volt jordan lows. the lava glow color to me along w the volt is bad ass.

I got these in my first Shock Drop W. As a lifelong comics fan, though a new sneaker head, these are certainly a trophy for me! I’m gonna have to convince myself to wear them out though, the sole is simply 👩🍳💋.

I love it and want it, but for $200 retail + CA tax = $220 and no special box or extra laces or any spiderman branding on the shoe, like the character should be on the insole and a spider on the heel or the toebox to standout

Watch the movies, and you'll know why it was set up the way it was. You know a lot of J1 stories in general. Know this one too ESPECIALLY if you're going to spend 700 plus bucks for it LOL. I do agree though, they should've included another set of laces. I'm switching my laces definitely. But when has JB ever listened to us fans? They know we're going to buy them so they don't have to do anything extra. We're their drones.

The name, and box design (or lack of) suddenly make sense when u find out that adidas actually has an official shoe collab with the movie and I think there's even a video game that features the shoe. These really aren't a collab shoe thats also why there is no branding alluding to the movie

It's a love/hate pair because you either get it or you don't. If you don't know comic books, or the spiderverse in general, then these are going to be just a strange looking pair of chicagos. If you are though, the inspiration is painfully obvious and it makes them all the more appealing. I just ordered a pair and they're on the way. Can't wait to see them in hand

People saying that the origins had no connection to Spider Man, obviously missed the blue and red Nike air tag on the tongue, along with the icy blue sole…those are also way more aesthetically pleasing than these
