Am I the only one who first thought this game was played by pressing random buttons on the controller in fast succession when close to an opponent? I didn't even know shield existed until I realized a bubble of energy sometimes on my opponents that blocked my attacks.
Seeing directional air dodges in slow motion really shows how janky it is. Why do characters jerk in the opposite direction before going the direction you told them to go? It looks so gross.
The only character that I would avoid using direction air dodge with would be Palutena, as her up B teleportation allows her to travel further and is better at placing her at a better position after using it.
@@sparrow_solas Yup. Wasn't sure so I didn't wanna mislead anyone but that's it. Uhhhh basically they're usually better than airdodging as they're character-specific (that edge fades away as you climb up the skill ladder) and usually the frame data favors them over other defensive options (for example, ZSS' down B is intangible on frames 3-12 and you can do the kick as soon as frame 14, which is ridiculous and it's nearly unpunishable even if you read it)
I've gained a new respect for smash through this video. Also from my nephew whooping me. While I think a lot of the things discussing this video are counterintuitive based upon other fighters, it does go to show that I imagine of lot of people who dismiss smash. Probably don't know these things. Still a party game, lol. But consider me ready to start partying hardcore.
Back Rolls? Those were just forward rolls demonstrated around the 4-minute mark of this video, but at least it was correctly explained what they do. I'm really surprised whoever edited this didn't even notice that. Edit: The back roll was demonstrated later, but the timing of the video prior to that implied the second forward roll was the back roll.
Or you could just unplug your opponent's controller

This is the perfect tutorial for me especially at the end

Old comment I know but it’s probably to prevent wavedashing from being even slightly good

I think rolls should be invulnerable the whole way through. The amount of times I messed up the input and got punished is insane
Finally learned the smash definition of parry
You can air dodge up so it can be like an extra invincible jump
but don’t do this unless your like puff
Thanks for this guides, are very usefull for me to improve!!! =)
top tiers list?
what about super armor defensive moves like yoshis super armor on his double jump or olimars down b?
Or even "invincibility" (The word's on the tip on my tongue, I mean not having a hurtbox/collision box) with ZSS' and Pokemon Trainer's down B
i think its called intangibility?
@@sparrow_solas That's right.
