@@Maskino_01 his reflector is anything but broken. doesnt work well on reaction. leaves him vulnerable if misstimed. to be killed at zero by it means you were predictable.
His crotch is literally the strongest reflector in the game, having a 2.4x multiplier on reflected projectiles, beating the baseball bat with its 2.0x multiplier
Yeah, but it's definitely harder to hit than most other reflectors. Most of his options are balanced by a high skill level or terrible frame data
His reflector hits hard but it’s also not hard for some characters to reflect it straight back at him and kazuya can’t stop that return.
Well it’s the hardest reflect input so why not

@@llamabot9889 You do realize that Smash Ultimate’s buffer system is what allows for shenanigans like Luigi’s kill combos off of ONE grab? Everyone has a generous window for inputs this iteration of Smash. Kazuya has the added advantage of little to no hitstun, which is how Tekken functions, which allows for his expanded movelist to function in the first place. He trades this potential to ruin your day off of his trademark mixups, punishes and high damage for also being completely helpless when he is in disadvantage state….just like Tekken.
It’s clear you do not know what you’re talking about and are projecting your lack of understanding of how Kazuya works as him just being “broken” and assuming everyone else agrees with your half-baked opinion.

@@RJ-ng2zi With this logic, Street Fighter characters should have long combos that do a lot more damage, like making their light tilts do 5% or cancelling more moves. I like those characters and I think that’d be a horrible idea. Not only have you attempted to validate your entire argument on a single character with a very specific setup (hitting with the projectile Luigi’s grab without actually grabbing will probably throw them out of range), you then belittle someone else for not assuming that similar game mechanics would work in two completely different games.

I kind of saw this coming. Character with good movement and kill potential *and* a built-in wave dash in a game where characters can't do it.
Also goes to show you that the basics of Tekken and Smash Brothers are pretty similar.

Two words; matchup inexperience. Smash players just love to call everyone broken the moment they drop.
Trying to explain a Smash player why having op moves is not broken if you cannot use them is like trying to explain to a Hwoarang or a Katarina player that Tekken has more than 1 button.

Not at all. Akuma was the Bayo of Smash. Kazuya has obvious weaknesses while Akuma doesn't and is one of the few characters with a projectile and a solid kill combo.

For those who think kazuya carried him. I went to college with axiom. He's fucking nuts at fighting games in general. He was already Pr'd way before kazuya came out it just happens that kazuya is the perfect character for him.

There’s a huge debate among other fighting games (oh, I don’t know, like Tekken) that true input moves should be removed. The argument for it is that it’s not really all that difficult and just makes it more complicated. There’s various reasons as to why the inputs should be kept, and I agree with them. But people are like “well you couldn’t play Kazuya” and “have you even played Tekken?” No. This is smash. I main Ryu. I’m not good and I can input. Pros do it 99.99999% of the time. Just why
@@shapooopiefour7173 In most fighting games it's there for varieties sake. Why the hell would you want to play a fighting game where everyone has the same exact inputs? Games like that don't last for a reason. Kazuya is probably winning so much rn because folks refuse to learn the MU, sure he's good but he's far from busted, at least compared to the actual top tiers of this game (most are base roster btw) that people don't complain about.
Like most of the new characters, Kazuya is fine. Not every dlc newcomer is Sm4sh bayo. wanting the dlc to suck just because ppl don't want to adapt is unreasonable and just plain stupid imo
@@shapooopiefour7173 Yeah I definitely don't think other fighting games should remove command inputs, but it's a different story when nothing in Smash Ultimate is so hard that it's difficulty can be considered a major balancing factor. And I'm tired of same BS arguments that you've been hearing too. People really say "Ya'll don't know other fighting games" as if that's some kinda "gotcha" moment, when it's really not. Like, no shit, "Of course I don't know other games, I play Smash because I'm not particularly interested in them". They shaming us for playing our main game, and we don't shit on their whole game, some Smashers just don't like the guest characters lol

It just seems like folks are crying about a character being busted at the top level when they aren't the ones dealing with him at the top level if that makes sense. I've run into very few troublesome kazuya players online and the ones that i have lost against just seemed to outplay me on all levels, (maneuvering, reads, general decision making) not get the best of me becuase they play a better character. idk if he's as cheap as people think right now lol

Yeah he sucks at nuetral, but has amazing hit confirms.
His damage should be reduced, do he's forced to play neutral more, instead of comboing twice and KO his opponent.
@@robburitto4193 I think for the average pro he's only mid-high tier, but he has so many options and so much damage, not counting a lot of ways to kill, a good recovery, and budget tough guy. He may have bad range and not the best frame data, but those can be combated.
In short, in theory Kazuya has all the tools to beat any character handily while taking minimal damage. The only question is whether any player will be able to draw out his potential (which in my humble opinion is the highest potential of every character).
He’s literally ganondorf with combos, decent recovery, a projectile, a strong out of shield move and a ridiculous reflector. Not to mention all of the super armour and intangibility. Oh, and a kill throw.

* 3 (4) Kill Throws. Up Throw, Forward Throw, and Back Throw kill. Then he also has his special throw with it's absurd launch angle.
My biggest gripe with this character is the absurd amount of invincibility and deceptively big hitboxes that he has. Really screws with my mind when I think I hit him but nope, he just passes through me
I would do two major things to him.
Completely remove his roll dodge and remove his air dodge.
Now I know this sounds unfair because everyone has those types of dodges. But Kazuya doesn't even have the post jump effect of not being able to attack until he hits the ground. Plus his Neutral B in the air is basically a stall mini jump. Like you said he also has an absurd amount of invincibility with his moves all while they can leave you unable to counter attack at all. So I think removing those dodges outright would give him two major disadvantages that leave him fully vulnerable would be a powerful counter balance.
The other thing I would do is nerf his rage grab to be like Little Mac's. One good hit and he loses it. Not like 30+% damage until he loses it.

I almost wish his forward throw was like DK's where he carries the fighter's limp body and lightly drops them on the ground. Do it off a ledge and they won't be able to act for a bit, higher % means longer stun

I honestly quite like Kazuya. He'll probably receive a few tweaks but I'm genuinely down for his design for reasons I can't articulate without the proof of gameplay showing that games are still quite even

You say that but most every dlc character (besides Joker) isn't even in top tier. All base game roaster, like Pikachu and Palutena. Sephiroth and Kazuya are being considered for top tier but really offline tournaments haven't been back very long so most don't know the match up.
@@reicherwallace6774 Wdym 😂 Joker and all of fighter pass 2 are top tier, Hero, Byleth, Terry and maybe Banjo are high tier and then there is Plant, a low tier. There is literally one DLC fighter who doesn't completely invalidate members of the cast
@@willycheez7218 I've never seen anyone rate them that highly. Minmin has a lot of support too for being high tier but it seems like most of top tier is always characters from the base game.

Banjo is middle and hero is usually considered middle or high tier and the actual best characters in the game are all base roster with the exception of joker. (Which is crazy because there are only a few players that are really good with him)

Mostly, but honestly, Axiom has his own share of fatal mistake. One of the most noticable one is that he should have alternate more between his double jump and Up B. And yes, I mean the sequence matter.

One huge game changer that Fox has compared to the other chars Kazuya fought is his downair. XL has gotten a lot of mileage out of Parry Punishes in the previous sets, but Fox dair is like the perfect tool to mix up enemies looking for parrys, and with enough drift, he can also space it so Kazuya up-B becomes a huge risk because of how hard it is to get back to ground against Fox if it misses.
I hate him because i don't know him enough. It's scary and fun to fight fun him sometimes.

This wasn't so much a breakdown so much as commentary with a few explanations. But it was a great video nonetheless, and I'm not surprised Kaziya has done as well as he has. I am surprised to hear his Down Air isn't a viable ledgeguard, when I use it all the time to punish bad recovery options, killing easily at high percents in most cases.

He’s under hyped tbh. He’s not like top 10 but he’s still underated
Kazuya is strong but not broken when you compare him to other smash characters. They can’t nerf him because he’s got many weaknesses in other areas. Also quick hint for smash players who don’t know him, he’s extremely high risk for extremely high reward you can even ooS grab his tilt options. Jumping and dodging neutralise most of his moveset and leave him open for easy punishment. Fast characters have huge advantage in terms of punishing his options purely by jumping at a distant baiting a move and easily punishing before kazuya recovers. To be honest making kazuya a TOD machine was slightly disappointing since it’s not what he is like in tekken. If they wanted to be accurate in giving him a tekken feel they should of allowed his OOS recovery slightly better than other smash characters so he could punish a lot better like he does in tekken considering his punishment is one of the best in tekken and it would force smash players to think a lot harder with their options. But kazuya has gone down this way now so probably too late now.

Sakurai said they had to readjust him to ensure he was dismissal.. Either that man needs to be nerfed or they need to carry a similar sentiment to other lower tier character for this does seem ridiculous in how deliberate they are in making a character considerably and more objectively better than others. I get it's impossible to achieve perfect balance but certain characters and their devastating weaknesses along with others and their tremendous or even excessive strengths are down right blatant to pin point to where there should be some middle ground to try and strive for
ok at 4:20 kazuya rage means nothing here. his comand grab would have killed without rage anyway, and like 80% of his moves would have too
