I restarted my island at 3 stars. Deleted all data at 120 hours played. I started terraforming and my island has both river ends at the south. It was impossible for my river to keep intact and I wanted a grand entrance from the airport and residents service was too close to my airport for that. I also hated most villagers, they were just boring. I realized with my island I’ll NEVER have my island look how I wanted. I restarted and DO NOT regret it. Since I restarted I started getting into AC forms because I needed DIYS. Now I love my island and have a lot of people helping me build it up 😊
I just reset mine just now my airport was to close to the residents I was dumb back then. I hope my choices makes me feel way more better I stopped playing ACNH for 3 weeks and I had no confidence in me.

@@akiylah9969 I would think tis the same way you reset just about any game, You delete it from the console settings page then restart.
Either that or move to another Island (you need 2 switch consoles for that and the second can't already have an Island) I could be wrong so I apologise if I am wrong on any advice I give (I just started) but I have heard about that recently.
Try asking on game forums or reddit for help from more experienced players of this specific game, they will probably give more details on methods.

I have almost 1300 hrs put into my island.. I can’t bring myself to restart.. but I’m having the same entrance problem you were. I swear it feels like I put 600 hrs into my freakin entrance lol. I’ve redone it 3-4 times now without resetting. It really is important to pick the right layout at the start!

@Emma Vloger go to a random island, you can get different fruits like oranges or coconuts and plant them back at your island

Thank you for this video! I had the same island as you had before and I became dissatisfied with the results after months later, it's sad that I have to lose all my progress because I finished the sea creatures and was almost finished with the bugs but I'll be more than happy to restart to make my island better
You know how many times I had to restart so I can get the map that I wanted!!!

I’m thinking on re-starting my island , I just started my island and so many things went wrong for me I’m still thinking but I’d maybe screen shot all my art I did and re-starting- the island wasn’t what I imagined :< . But this helped a lot
Gosh! Thank you soooooo much! This game was a gift and I have not played Animal Crossing in the past. I totally liked Bean Ville choice and would have chosen it myself. It look beautiful. @@kingbil3993 Yeah, but worth it in the end. I'm just super particular. I wanted a good fruit x airport combo, rs distance somewhat close, etc.
Fruit is irrelevant since you can get fruit from mystery islands and other player’s.
What matters the most is the location of resident services and the color of the airport which can’t be changed, also the river exits matter a lot since they also can’t be changed :)
@@thedon2005 Actually it's not irrelevant, because you get a starter fruit that remains on your player passport and I particularly wanted anything but oranges or apples to start with. Yes you can acquire other fruit but it's player preference.
Im at 7 hours rn. Ive found a few good maps but i keep getting peaches and oranges. I jjust want cherries :(

I already started my island and have spent many hours on it but good thing I chose a good island. Now if I get another switch I know how to properly chose and island because the island I have now was by pure accident, but I can fit everything in my entrance.

i picked a map with resident services next to airport on purpose. i like it when they are close to each other, and i managed to terraform it to look decent :)
This is a nice video. Thanks for this. I didn't research when I started my island, my water ways are both going to the south, it looks like a box, the middle island is huge, the RS (residence services) is near but not right in front of it. When I began Terraforming, I created a walkway with 2 waterfalls at the side so it blocked tge RS. Then when you turn right, you will then see it but because of the cliffs that I made, it kind of blended it. ☺️
I basically have this resident services right by the airport, my solution was build a grand entrance blocking off the view and placing a Mario pipe where I wanted people to come out. Worked super well!
So I have officially reset my island(since December actually, but now I decide to tell you now for some reason)and I am so much happier with my map layout, and terraforming is much easier since I have the map for me.
I’m currently resetting my islands and I’ve found a map I like apart from the fact that it’s two down facing rivers , I feel like having it may make it harder in the future

i got a switch for christmas and just got my five star island but my resident services spot is awful, so i’ve been watching videos like this debating if i should reset my game or not. this video is the one that convinced me tho. i may have all my dreamies, but i love the island set up you choose

I’ve restarted 3 times, and it’s gonna be 4 tomorrow.
First time(Goldcrest): my peninsula was the most awkward shape everrr and my beaches were tiny and resident services was so nearly a straight line from the airport (as in if you make a path going straight from airport to RS it’s nearly a straight line buts it was off by one block. I’d also flattened and terra formed beyond repair.
Second time(mooncrest): I chose two south river exits. Impossible to do anything lol
Third (Goldcrest): flowers. I’m not exaggerating 3/4 of my island was covered in flowers. Whenever I logged on I literally cried because they just kept growing.
Fourth (mushroom) : gonna do it tomorrow. I have no motivation anymore I have every diy, a fully decorated island, all my dreamies I just have nothing to do. Rip mushroom
RIP Mushroom! I very VERY nearly went for an island with both river mouths on the south but very glad I didn't now!

I actually prefer having two south facing river mouths, I initially went for one south and one on the side but I felt more limited by that tbh. My first map actually looked almost identical to the one in the video lol.

I wish I knew these things before I started my game a month ago 😭 my resident services is like five squares from my airport and both my river mouths are on the southern beach. Annoying.
After the winter season is over im resetting my island because my res services is about 7 blocks away from the beach 😭😭😭 i had no idea what i was doing when i got the game

I started playing on launch day and I'm pretty much decided on restarting my island once I get all of my villagers' photos (by which point I'll probably have played 500 hours of ACNH). My airport is too close to my resident services and I like islands with both river mouths on the south of the island, both the which seriously impact how I'm able to design my island. Plus having the orange airport would make it easier to get items I want ^^

Seems to me when I got my game on March 20th 2020, I had the option to shuffle the islands to pick one I wanted. Maybe they changed that later in the game. Not going to restart to check it out.
I actually really like my current island, but I think I should restart.
I like MOST of my villagers, but my layout is.. eh.
I placed a lot of things the wrong way and I don’t have to patience to earn bells and relocate them so I’m going to restart!
I also don’t like where residents services is, and the airport colour is also not so good.
I’m planning to restart and record it for my yt! But I’ll miss one villager from my island, TEDDY!

If you have online play, friends, and a lot of items you don’t want to lose, ship your items to your friends and when you get your new island have them ship your stuff back. Hope this helped ❤️

I totally agree with resident services. On my island mine is more off to the side, so I can have a bit of a nice entrance. It's not mega fancy, but it works for what my island's theme is. When I re-started my island after playing a bit on the first, I prioritized my pier honestly since originally mine was to the right and I wanted it to the left since those are things you couldn't change and at the time I felt the pier was more important, which is...meh? For those starting out, I would say key areas to look for are Resident Service, Airport, Redd's and then Pier. How the island looks can be easily changed. Trust me, I have one major river and a ton of waterfalls =w=. Hell, my island is also mostly flat with a few areas being second or third levels. So really just have fun with it.
I choose the island I have all because there was a heart shape on it at the top and called it moon heart island :)

If you press Y instead of X when closing the game, it will automatically ask you to pick the user instead of pressing A again

I had the problem of my resident services being too close, too.. What I ended up doing was building a smaller version of the plaza i had in mind when i first started.. it’s kind of a pain to scale everything down but i think it was the better option than saying goodbye to all of my good villagers :^( Also for you rivers you can always terraform it to the way you want if you’ve completed the K.K. Project. I know I’m kinda late to reply but good luck!

@@xxmaddyxx1143 yes of course!! Otherwise that would be unfair to restart the map, yet keep all your items. And it could end up glitching if that was the case due to how buildings are placed. So once you reset, it's like you started for the very first time :))

There is one specific layout that I'm looking for and I've been doing this for 3 days now I'm pulling my hair out the peninsula keeps spawning in the wrong place. I like top right quadrant. I honestly feel like crying 😅😅😅😅😅😅
I reset my island map like 30 times so I could have the airport line up perfectly with the door of the residence services. I also got a green airport that I wanted and pears my second fave fruit :P
