Here is my challah recipe for everyone asking!
    ABBEY’S FAMOUS CHALLAH
    1 cup warm water (105-110 F)
    1 tbsp instant yeast
    3 tbsp sugar
    1 whole egg
    2 egg yolks
    1 tbsp vegetable oil
    ¼ cup melted butter
    ¼ cup white sugar
    5 tbsp honey
    3.5 cup all purpose flour
    1 tsp salt
    Topping:
1 beaten egg mixed with 2 tsp honey
    Sweet:
    2.5 tbsp all purpose flour
    1.5 tbsp white sugar
    1 tbsp brown sugar
    1 tbsp butter, very soft
    OR
    Savoury:
    Sesame seeds
1.Combine warm water with sugar and mix. Add yeast, stir and sit for 5-10 min.
2.To a stand mixer bowl fitted with the paddle, add eggs, oil, butter and mix. Then add sugar, honey, and the bloomed yeast. Gently mix.
3.Add 1 cup of flour to the mix along with the salt and mix until combined. Then add remaining, about ½ cup at a time. Mix until combined, then change to the dough hook. Kneed with dough hook for 5 min on medium.
4.Transfer to a well floured surface and kneed manually for another 5 minutes. It is a very sticky dough but try to add the least amount of flour you can to still work with it.
5.Put the dough in an oiled bowl and cover for 2 hours (should double) in a warm spot.
6.Divide in half, and then each half into three strands. Braid into 2 loaves. Put each loaf onto a baking tray lined with parchment and cover with a towel in a warm place for 1 hr.
    7.Preheat oven to 350 F.
8.Brush the loaves with egg honey mixture. Mix together the flour, sugars and butter for the streusel and top one loaf with that. And sprinkle the other one with sesame seeds. Bake for 23-25 minutes or until golden brown and the internal temperature is 190 F. Do not over bake!!!

  • @irenesutherland778

I have such a similar birth story! My second boy was born on 2 September and labour was 3h15min from start to finish. I was also in denial because the contractions were coming too fast and I couldn't get hold of my husband, as he was working far away.
My friend ended up taking me to hospital, which is 2 hours away, and it was the most excruciating car ride, being strapped in and not being able to move. When I got there it was 20 minutes of pushing and he was born.
My husband only arrived an hour later!

(You actually introduced me to those items, so THANK YOU!!) Giving us women a play by play of your labor and pregnancy story is incredibly personal and private . Not every mom has the balls to share her story to the public. I commend you for that. I did not know that you can feel the scraping on the inside when the OBGYN pulls out the placenta. I tried so many things and nothing worked - I ended up having my son 2 weeks after my due date after 3 days of medical induction (was induced because in my post-date ultrasound my amniotic fluid was very low - my placenta was starting to fail because I was so far from my due date). It was honestly so discouraging feeling like I put in so much effort and couldn't go into labour on my own (and wasn't even progressing much on synthetic oxytocin so far after my due date). I envy women that go into spontaneous labour on their own or go into labour closer to their due date. Thanks so much for documenting your story :)

I wish I could get pregnant but I have a genetic disorder called 22Q/DiGeorge Syndrome and I would highly recommend u and anyone else research why women who have this genetic disorder can’t get pregnant. In short, I can’t bc if I do, than I’ll pass on the disorder to my child, and they might die and I do not want that child to go what I had to go thru, which was hell!! I’m also on Birth Control bc of hormone imbalances as well. I’m pro-both meaning I support pro life and pro choice women, and I feel like more ppl should support both and not choose a side bc if u don’t want to choose a side, then u don’t have to. I don't know if it's "better for you," but the Korean grandma at my local store said it was. I just think it tastes the best. I love that you share your experience and are really open to talk about everything! Makes all these other moms who struggle at one point or another feel better for sure (even though I am not a mom it makes me feel better to see that there is very rarely a „perfect“ birth journey) :-)

I don’t think episiotomy is very common anymore. Most of the stuff I read pre-baby said that doctors prefer you tear since that seems to heal faster...

This whole video need the consult your doctor for any of this advice like was said with the widener tool at the 5minute mark. FYI don’t need a specific tool to achieve that same result, use perineal massage.

Best vlog ever!! You might find the hakaa pump useful now that your milk is in, it’s a bit more gentle than an electric pump. It catches your let down when your feeding. More of this please! xxx

Birth stories are women’s equivalent of men’s war stories. Even in a “normal” delivery there is plenty of discomfort and pain and frankly, I never found the idea of a baby at the end of it all that comforting. My first labor was very long and all back labor; I was very grateful for the epidural. By my last pregnancy I was using hypnosis and it was fabulous, with very little pain and no need for epidural or anything else. All I can say is Hurrah for modern medicine. Most people no longer even have any idea about how dangerous child birth has been for most of human history. Good luck. Wishing we could bottle those best Mommy moments.
