i just bought one of these to go with a pair of dt770 pro x, no idea what its gonna sound like, hopefully its ok. also have no idea how to set it up correctly, the balanced input output confuses me.

I suppose maybe the cord isnt long enough for this to be an issue, hopefully. this unit should be ok to run for 12hrs+ without issue if its connected to a power source for continuous charging? also thank you for the review it was very helpful for me to make the decision to get this model, really looking forward to having some decent sound again.
I covered this briefly towards the end of the video. To summarize: the iFi has more features but the Angel comes out on top in terms of pure audio quality.

A single mobile chip for that price is ridiculous to say the least. l have TRI tk2 with 2 of the same chip, 1200mw on both the single ended and balance and it cost less than $250...Can you bypass the dac and just use the amp with Ru6 dongle on this angel amp?Thank you.
It's more about the quality of the power supply and the amplification circuit here. Dual DAC chips is more of a marketing highlight rather than an increase in audio quality.
1 or 2 chips doesnt make much of an audible difference at all and they cost under 20 dollars, so that isnt the only point in a good dac amp. Much more important to sound is the implementation and the pre amp stage.

Thank you for the great review! Could you recommend a desktop device in the same price range, that is as good or even better in soundstage depth (and layering) and holographic upfront presentation? I dont care for width and details. Tonality should be neutral. I know about importants of the used headphone and recording and dont want to use any crossfeed btw. Much appreciate any suggestions.
I think you would love the smsl do300ex or if you want separate components Topping E70 Velvet and L70. Then there's smsl su-9 ultra which pairs super nice with Topping L70.

A receiver usually incorporates video switching as well as audio. The difference between using a DAC+Amp is you can have more control over the sound signature and you can change/upgrade each component without having to replace the whole thing like an avr. Another benefit of dac+amp is they have separate external power supplies so there's less internal electrical noise which generally results in lower thd+n.
Maybe your definition of portable is a little too rigid. I can move this device from my desktop to my front garden and be listening to it in less than 2 minutes. If that doesn't qualify as portable, then maybe I need to learn some new vocabulary.
I have the xDuoo XD05 Bal and I don’t class it as a portable amp just because it’s too big and heavy to take outside but I use it around my house I’m not having a go at you and love the video. To me something is portable in the hifi world as something you can carry in your pocket on the go

Como el smsl c200 tiene un solo chip es9038q2m y la salida balanceada no es real.. para que sea balanceado debe tener DOS chips. y a ese precio de 800 dolares DEBERIA de traer 2 chips y ser balanceado real. el diablo si tiene 2 chips burr brown.

If I had that much spare cash I'd probably buy a Mojo 2 if I wanted portable.

You don't need to worry about the balanced output because the stock dt770 Pro X cable is single-ended (unbalanced 3.5mm).

my computer is plugged into a receiver (with bookshelf speakers) for audio. What's the difference between using a receiver vs using a DAC+AMP?
A receiver usually incorporates video switching as well as audio. The difference between using a DAC+Amp is you can have more control over the sound signature and you can change/upgrade each component without having to replace the whole thing like an avr.

all that primeaudio said plus output impedance could also be a thing that might reprofile the sound signature of your headphones.
