This was around 9:30pm so it was dark, and didn't realize it was him until about 5 minutes into our search. I only realized it was him when we got to a well lit part of the park. He honestly walked around the park with me for a good 20 min. helping look for my bag, and playing with my pup at the same time. Safety is always a top priority, even as a passenger there's a lot of things you have to know in order to stay safe.. The backseat is still a serious place to be
Shadow747 because it's still a fighter jet, there are a lot of controls and switches in the back that can negatively effect the aircraft if a passenger were to do anything.. There are also certain things that the person in the back has to know how to control themselves, such as their oxygen controls, communication controls, and ejection seat arming/disarming just to name a few
Shadow747 something to help realize is that this jet doesn't have a second seat for passengers to ride along, that seat is normally for an instructor.. So it still has almost everything that the front has
Just imagine yourself in a combat situation handling all those g forces, all the while keeping a sharp eye on your foe. Conditioning, training and experience make for a good fighter pilot. Must take a lot of work, preparation and nerve.
Unfortunately for a lot of Thunderbird and Blue Angel pilots, it is the last job they ever have. It's actually more dangerous than being a fighter pilot in a combat zone, which is a hell of a thing to say.

Most of what they do is training, seat time BUT they have to be prepared at all times to make snap decisions when things do not go as planned or their training did not prepare them for,, therein lies their base intelligence. The ability to evaluate their circumstance, determine and execute decisions that will bring them back to Mother Earth - alive - hopefully with their billion dollar aircraft in one piece. Everyone talks a good game, until you're literally climbing into an F-16 understanding what that thing is capable of. It's like talking about how good a driver you are and then being put into a Formula 1 car for the 1st time. :D
Imagine being in a rollercoaster where the dives and rolls are constant and the acceleration is constant. Thats what a jet would be like. Like your stomach tenses up. It will stay like that for a long time making it hard to even breath.
When I was in USAF I was given a ride in a F 111. 6 Gs was the highest we did. At the end of flight I was drenched in sweat and exhausted. I went home and took a nap.
He looks like he is about to crap his pants.... What a great opportunity though. Really gracious and heartfelt comments at the end too. Mr Butler is a real class act.
+donnibrasko1 you can imagine! Your body basically weighs 9.4 times its normal weight yet still has lung capacity and blood flow of your normal weight. Pass out recipe!
Anything over 5g is hard for someone that has never done it. He really did a great job. You couldn't understand until you've been stuck to the sidewall of an aircraft that is going 400 kts and decides to bank around a lost Army blackhawk.
HIghest I've personally done was 7.0 (the limit for my aircraft), and it wasn't by any means easy. The sweat on top of your head quickly hits your face, your shoulders feel like they weigh 200 lbs, and if you sustain it your feet start to feel swollen. For someone who's never done it before to hit 9.4 and not black out? Dude's a hardcore badass.
I’ve seen all of his movies and really enjoy his acting. After this I think it’s safe to say that not only does he "talk the talk but he now walks the walk". Thank you for your service, pilots and crew of the US Air Force Thunderbirds. 🇺🇸🤘
That salute and handshake maneuver at 10:30 was great. I always loved the synchronicity of the military, but ever since my dad had a military funeral and seeing the Marines up close, it gives me goosebumps to see them in tandem
USAF" Thunderbirds" now at Nellis Air Force Base originally started at Luke Air Force Base Arizona. named after Thunderbird Airfield Training Center that existed before Luke Air Force Base started Thunderbird field was located at 59th Avenue and Greenway in Glendale,Az. changed into the American Institute for foreign trade in October 3 1946. just after World War II giving the opportunity to the GI returning from World War II could learn and experience International Management... the Thunderbirds still fly the FA 16 Falcon... one of the most agile fighter jets out there
Anthony Schurz uh....pretty good, except for the bit about being named for "Thunderbird Airfield Training Center". The team took the name from the Thunderbird of Native American mythology.
I have seen the air show and it was the most unforgettable experience in my life with wonderful pilots so accomodating and friendly to us they were the best God bless them

Dog fight??? Lol there havent been any dogfights for over 20 years now. Nowadays they lock-on from over 10 km away and fire the missile on a dot on their screen ; )
What a lot of people don't know, unless you've gone through the training (For me, Tyndall AFB, 1997). The Oxygen system actually forces air into your lungs, which also doesn't make it easy. The Hick maneuver, isn't just to try and replenish your oxygen, but to also prevent too much of the air from building up in your lungs. You actually expel and take in about a gasp of air every 3 seconds. I remember during my initial training, as we sat in the pressure chamber wearing the masks, once 100% force was turned on and we had to say our names and try to talk normal, that was really difficult. Add to that the G-forces in flight, and it's a lot more. As your statement suggests, over time and training, your body adapts to the forces to allow you to speak. There are extremes, however, where you'll hear a pilot yelling because of the sustained G's or wild maneuvers.
My Brother in Law flew T38's during Vietnam and was a Flight Instructor as well. Flew some more in US and later worked , no flying because his back got so bad he couldn't. All the flying can take a toll on the body.
Gerry, You’re fortunate to have been given the opportunity ... hat’s off for handling the ride so well! Not many people can keep their nerves under control, much less stay conscious!
Great job Gerard, and especially so after landing. You looked completely disoriented and nauseous as your eyes wandered off in different directions, but you pulled it off like a champ!
Really enjoy seeing nice, down to earth celebrities appreciative of the fine men and women of the armed forces. You seem like a genuinely good guy Mr. Butler!
I love seeing these interactions. You have the USAF personnel who are giddy as hell seeing Gerard Butler, a great action movie star who's life is a lot more impressive to those looking in. And you have Gerard Butler going through the training, giddy as hell about doing something the USAF personnel do every day and have gotten plenty used to it to the point where it's just routine. The most amazing thing in someone's life is that thing they have yet to do.

the first aerobatic team I knew when I was in junior high school was The Thunderbirds of the USAF. And for years, I only knew this team , beside they used F-16 Fighting Falcon, my favorite fighter jet. Until I was in the university, I knew the other team which was the Blue Angels of the US Navy, that used F-18 Hornet . Because I am so impressed with the two teams, and I don't know who is the best, so I prefer to use the phrase "Blue Thunder" for these two incredible teams. I think they are the best fighter jet pilots in the world. greetings from Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia.
When I was a teenager just graduating high school I went and saw the Blu Angles perform at local airport Green Bay Wisconsin. Got to go up to the planes and meet pilots. I immediately went and joined the Army and my friend joined Navy.

Mr. Butler, you are a very good dude!! There are so many people that love and respect you. Dont worry about past mistakes, WE ALL MAKE THEM! Keep making those awesome movies sir, and know you are in our prayers!!
TONIGHT, WE FLY IN HELL!!
This made my day.... lol
Oh my lord...I'm laughing so hard right now... I can hear it... :D
I got the 300th like..What a coincidence :P
well done man.... well done...
Lmao
My favorite actor
I like him as a person! And I do enjoy almost all of his movies too.
Have a nice weekend! (whoever reads this)
Ugg
Gerard was so happy!..the happiest moment in his life!
Great actor, what a chill dude as well
It is good to see Gerry appreciate the amazing work that these brave men and woman undertake on a daily basis. These folks are amazingly talented, and I mean our military, not folks that make a living with fantasy. Spread the word to your friends Gerry.
here in Philippines brow
You can tell In the beginning of the video he was nervous as shit lol he couldn’t stop shaking his leg 😂 Takes guts though 👏
That height is not funny, I would have passed out, period
lol id be anxious too
Everyone talks a good game, until you're literally climbing into an F-16 understanding what that thing is capable of.
I would like to say THANK YOU for sharing this, It was totaly awesome!
Respect, he must be in excellent condition. This is challenging. WOW!
A untrained pilot can withstand 9g.. Impressive!
He's also very physically fit.
I have done 7, but not sustained for very long and really took it out of me... Seeing 9 like that, I was really impressed too!
I’ve done like 5 or 6 but 9 damn I couldn’t move!
I thought the same thing! Wild
@@TheModelGuy Fit, did you have a good look at him?
What if he couldn't hold in his vomit during a loop?
This is SPAR-TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaawwwwrrrrrrggghhhhhhhhhhh..... blaaaarrrrrrggghhhhh
Never happen with these tough Scottish dudes...:)
Plus, he went through it twice. Pilot asked if he was done and he said lets do it again...Lol so they did
This made me cry! lol! Thank you!
DeusEx Machina Tonight we dine in Gs
I WSH he shouted this is sparta that would be soooooooooooooo epic/priceless.
Pilot: We're going to do vertical rolls now.
Me: right, why
Pilot is talking like a normal casual person at 7 Gs while Gerard can barely look around much less breathe.
@Phantom Alpha conditioning and cool nerves..
Phantom Alpha (ik the comments old) but yes , it’s basically the body growing accustom to high Gs, know as G-Tolerance .
When I was in USAF I was given a ride in a F 111. 6 Gs was the highest we did. At the end of flight I was drenched in sweat and exhausted. I went home and took a nap.
because he is a trained soldier of Sparta
B C 😄
"Madness?! This is Airforce!" *Pulls ejection handle*
He looks like he is about to crap his pants.... What a great opportunity though. Really gracious and heartfelt comments at the end too. Mr Butler is a real class act.
9.4 g's from what I read is no joke!!
props
+donnibrasko1 you can imagine! Your body basically weighs 9.4 times its normal weight yet still has lung capacity and blood flow of your normal weight. Pass out recipe!
Anything over 5g is hard for someone that has never done it. He really did a great job. You couldn't understand until you've been stuck to the sidewall of an aircraft that is going 400 kts and decides to bank around a lost Army blackhawk.
No props, just jets, lol.
AWESOME VIDEO - I am proud of our US military men and women and glad GB did this as he spoke for all of us about how intense it really is - WOW.
Johnny Carson (USMC) talked about his flight with the Thunderbirds. "I wanted to throw up, but I didn't know which way WAS up!"
9 G's...Dude is a beast.
"Bordering on spiritual"
how are you greetings from Philippines and Philippine Army
12:40 dude casually pulls out his phone to take himself a photo! SAVAGE
Just to ride with these boys is like an intense training! #trueheros
you can tell hes nervous as hell ! lol .
Damn I would be too 😀
Kerry Ward honestly he looks drunk to me
Garage928 This happened probable around 6 in the morning. every one looks drunk at that point
Kerry Ward agree i would have looked worse lol
Shit who wouldn’t that prolly over a G he’s getting
Gerard Butler for top gun 2.
Thanks
adonis LOL , he was scared to death , who is this guy anyway ?
I agree
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
You can't be serious...Tom Cruise wannabe maybe...nothing more.
I’ve seen all of his movies and really enjoy his acting. After this I think it’s safe to say that not only does he "talk the talk but he now walks the walk". Thank you for your service, pilots and crew of the US Air Force Thunderbirds. 🇺🇸🤘
“Tower, this is SPARTA”
Gerard @ 9G's = *_"Talvaaa...dis is SLOBBAAA!!"_*
Is there an Eject for meh HAGGIS?
"Should have used this against the Persians".
[Flashback to Persian Gulf War] “oh....”
@@hazmatt3250 lmao! well done sir, well done
That salute and handshake maneuver at 10:30 was great. I always loved the synchronicity of the military, but ever since my dad had a military funeral and seeing the Marines up close, it gives me goosebumps to see them in tandem
Hahaha shake shout hello from Philippines
USAF" Thunderbirds"
now at Nellis Air Force Base
originally started at Luke Air Force Base Arizona.
named after Thunderbird Airfield Training Center that existed before Luke Air Force Base started
Thunderbird field was located at 59th Avenue and Greenway in Glendale,Az.
changed into the American Institute for foreign trade in October 3 1946. just after World War II
giving the opportunity to the GI returning from World War II could learn and experience International Management...
the Thunderbirds still fly the FA 16 Falcon...
one of the most agile fighter jets out there
Anthony Schurz uh....pretty good, except for the bit about being named for "Thunderbird Airfield Training Center". The team took the name from the Thunderbird of Native American mythology.
Such a nice dude man, i love him he's the best
I have seen the air show and it was the most unforgettable experience in my life with wonderful pilots so accomodating and friendly to us they were the best God bless them
Thanks for your support and encouragement. I hope you're having a wonderful day and I do always see your comments in my wall here on TH-cam. If you ain't busy. Hope we can get to text privately. Thank you
@@gerardbutler3576 god bless you and keep you safe

If the Persians thought the Phalanx was tough, just wait until they see a Spartan in an F-16, haha.
+Ner' vod hahaha! Great comment!
Good one !
The age old story, F16s vs War Elephants and obnoxiously tall god people..... My moneys on the F16s
My Idol Gerard Butler best action guy in movie I like this I never see him flying a jet called THUNDERBIRDS that is very awesome love it....
Gérard Butler hit 9.3 Gs. HOLY SH!T!!!
when theyre pullin G's the pilots talking normal.....im guessing the pilots just use to that many G's....
they have to .. in a dog fight you also have to keep 1000% focus while on those huge g's , or you die.
+solmyr2 well yeah but it seems like after a long enough time and enough exposure the pilots get use to the Gs
Dog fight??? Lol there havent been any dogfights for over 20 years now. Nowadays they lock-on from over 10 km away and fire the missile on a dot on their screen ; )
still dangerous, as the dot can fire back...
There are extremes, however, where you'll hear a pilot yelling because of the sustained G's or wild maneuvers.
he's so nervous. lool anyone would be!
+Tino L Whaaat? Really? I didn't notice.
+Gung Ho Vids not every one notices everything ;)
Tino L Yes I know, I remember the video. After all I uploaded it. Thanks for watching. And thanks for your opinion. Come back anytime.
neither did I!
He breathe so fucking heavy even before the takeoff, I was sure he was going to blackout in the air.
Can't imagine what and how much training these pilots have to go through to accomplish this and sound calm as crap. Butler, you are amazing!!!!!!
My Brother in Law flew T38's during Vietnam and was a Flight Instructor as well. Flew some more in US and later worked , no flying because his back got so bad he couldn't. All the flying can take a toll on the body.
Madness? THIS!.....IS!.......10 GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!
I've experienced 4Gs, and that was pretty intense. I couldn't imagine 9.4Gs.
Wow, one of my fav actors... awesome to see. Cheers
Love how he's stressing, breathing strong and the pilot is just like "blah blah blah"
I was waiting for him to lose grip of his phone right before the rolls.
Hello beautiful 🌹
@@gerardbutler1791 Whaa? I haven't been called that in ages. Thank you😊.
Gerry, You’re fortunate to have been given the opportunity ... hat’s off for handling the ride so well! Not many people can keep their nerves under control, much less stay conscious!

That was a damned Phantom of the Opera
😂😂😂😂😂
What a bad ass. most other folks who go up on these things freakin faint or barf.
Great job Gerard, and especially so after landing. You looked completely disoriented and nauseous as your eyes wandered off in different directions, but you pulled it off like a champ!
rocked a bit on his shoes. lol. But better than most I bet.
Hope he went to the E-club (or combined E/O club) with the crew and bought them all a few beers. He'd have enjoyed that as much as the flight.
I don't care WHO you are, this has to be thrilling ! And plenty scary. So nice he got to do this.
Former Aircrew here, love your work, and my name is Gerard. :)
Thanks for taking me along! I loved the view.
This is why I love Americans 😍👍🏻 all of them so funny and kind ❤️👍🏻

thanks for sharing, realy enjoyed the video. and well done gerald butler in the thunderbird jet plane.
👍👍👍👍👍THUMBS UP👍👍👍👍👍
the first aerobatic team I knew when I was in junior high school was The Thunderbirds of the USAF. I think they are the best fighter jet pilots in the world. greetings from Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia.
hakeemdj368 . I liked your comment on the name, “Blue Thunder”! Ex Blue team member 1976-1978.
Turned out way cooler than i expected. Gerard Butler is a humble, genuine dude and that’s what made it more than a random celeb milking a self promo
When I was a teenager just graduating high school I went and saw the Blu Angles perform at local airport Green Bay Wisconsin. Got to go up to the planes and meet pilots. I immediately went and joined the Army and my friend joined Navy.
"Choose your next words carefully..." "Sparta will need sons..." "Tonight, we dine in hell!" "We obey Spartan Law. No retreat. No surrender."
1. Gerard is on camera, no chance to look sheepish!
2. The ground crew precision movements, love them every time!
3. Stomach clenches.... so that’s the trick?!?
4. Pilot Kev....the consummate gentleman whilst pulling 9.3 G force!
5. Gerard, the funny man! So cool!!!
6. Finally, they put Gerard’s name on the plane!
Best bit of video.
Learned a lot!

I had a flight in an F4-G Wild Weasel in 19foreverago, the most fun I ever had. Anyone that gets the rare opportunity says the same.
Pilot or backseat? I'd call it the WSO/RIO, but I know what a wild weasel does.
