A very welcome addition to your ww2 armour collection I'm sure Michael. Nice to be able to get such a kit in conventional plastic , as all too often some of the rarer subjects can only be bought in resin at a high price. The quality looks great. I am sure you already have a dio in mind !
That is a very interesting kit my friend! :) What makes it interesting to me is how early this Panzer Three tank was. The suspension for this early model is very interesting, I never knew they opted for leaf suspension first before using the torsion bar suspension. The kit looks very detailed with lots of parts. If I buy and build this kit, I know the hardest part will be building the tracks! It's harder than the Dragon Magic Track System. Thanks for sharing this great review. Very interesting.
qdc748a the tracks will be tricky indeed, but i think they are doable. when done right they are true eye-candy with a perfect sagging effect and so on.
Hallelujah indeed.. :) And it is nice to see a brand new kit of something, as a change.. especially as the kit I'm currently building was first cast in 1957! (Neunzehnhundert und siebenundfünfzig!) So it is older than me, which makes it an antique.. or as I prefer to call it.. an Airfix 'classic'.. :) Anyway, back to your review.. the kit looks nicely detailed, never knew of this version of the Panzer III, nor of the kit, so that is something new I've learnt. Nice that it will have some interior showing, and the track looks well thought out, not sure if you plan to do a 'build' video but it would be interesting to see the track assembly.. Either way, I'm sure you'll do a most outstanding job of it, as is your habit.. Great review, and thanks for sharing.. ;)
Rob BasicModelling indeed, i also like new tooled kits of existing old ones :) i´m sure you make this old turd perfect and shiny so no one would guess the age of the kit, i´m looking forward to it!
Hamilkar Barkas As long as I don't ruin the decalling it should hopefully turn out ok-ish.. :) By the way, this has probably been mentioned in other comments but you get so many now I can't read through them all like I used to do.. but why don't you try a 'Liquid Decal Film', like the one from 'Microscale, for the decals.. that should hopefully prevent them from splitting.. :) I have bought a bottle for myself in anticipation of the ICM Spitfires and Mustangs I'm yet to build.. The ICM decals are horrible, nrmally so I hope the decal film will solve the problem.. rather than dissolve the decals.. :)
Great review as Ive had my eye on this tank for a LONG time, and it is finally out. I will buy this for sure but will wait for the Ausf D version as they were more numerous and will give greater scope for modellibg. Im most impressed with the cupola and those tracks lok awesome, although I will glue them and not have them wotkable probably. Vielen dank!
Miniart seem to be making quite a name for themselves - I have their German Tram on Santa's list. Obviously, I'm no armour expert (or aircraft for that matter!!!), but seeing the overall quality of this kit bodes well for the tram - should I still be a good boy come Christmas and haven't made the 'other' list. When you see things like those engine grills, you wonder why some kits are so rough - they were amazing! Oh and all those bolts!!!!! Thank goodness, aircraft only have two or three wheels! ;)
MakingModelsAgain yep, that tram car is something i´d love to build too! i´ve seen dioramas where guys used it, for example as a road blockade in Berlin against soviet tanks or in a peaceful prewar scene. there are so many ways to build it, even the ways to weather it are endless!
Looks good, the workable track sounds fishy and I'm not sure how much weathering you'll be able to do to it without the weathering coming off! Also, the price is a BIT steep - and I think they're monopolising it a bit.
oberstul well the tracks are not easy, but they look good. i have seen worse tracks, like the ones from the takom mk IV where each link consists of 4 parts.
The panzer III Miniart is a beautiful object that other houses have never built. I own it too. Defects Plastics are weak if the cutter cuts always break. The tracks with the bolt very weak unlike the Bronco and Rey Field Model tracks with bolt but more robust. Miniart makes beautiful subjects that other companies do not do but the quality is not that great. Did you build this Michael tank?
I agree on that entirely, i hope they keep improving things. Their kits used to be aweful, but now they are not bad and cover unique subjects. I have not yet built this kit.
its been on my wishlist since it was announced, i´m so happy that they released the kit now after all those months of waiting for it. hopefully they do an A version too, which looks so cool with the big five wheels. another brand new kit is coming in this week, the new afv club sho´t kal gimel and everything i will need for a diorama for it, got that for my youtube money i earned in the last months.
Looks like I need to make more room on my list. I'd love an A. That sho't Kal looks amazing too. There are a couple of them. I bought the tiger kit 6253 from dragon/cyberhobby with my TH-cam money... I haven't stopped drooling in the box yet haha.
it looks nice but I am still amazed by the prices for these kits...I have not shopped for kits in a long time so maybe I and my wallet are stuck in a time warp :)
Καλημερα .Good morning.Well i bought the panzer 3 ausf C no 35166 about a year ago and start building it these days . I love the detail and the complexity .I have only one issue .The quality of the material .Everything is nicely detailed but snaps so easily especially the elongated pieces that are attached to sprues to too many points . Am i doing something wrong ? Overall is fun and something new as a building . Have you started building yours ? I would surely like to hear your thoughts on my issue .
i heard that miniart used to have some brittle plastic, but it seems like they improved the formula already when these kits came out. i have not yet built the thing so i can not tell you for sure.
At the moment i‘m building this model. The details are great But i have the same problems. The material is horror. I think it’s to hard. The small parts are breaking so fast. For example, today i came softly against the suspenion and two wheels where broken.
It happened to me also .At least they glued pretty easily and i had no problem .By now i have completed it apart from the weathering .Overall I like it.

Armour Empire indeed it is mark! love that thing, i´m a panzer III maniac :)

Hamilkar Barkas Ja - die Ausführung B ist einfach ein Muß für jeden Panzer III Fan. Dann mal noch viel Spaß beim Bauen!
Beautiful kit...I'll put this on my list of must have kits. Thanks for the review mate.
Aaron Mac you are welcome :)
Wow that's a cool subject. I've been really liking the prototype and early variant subjects lately. And that one looks amazing.
Adam Mann it certainly looks very prototypish although it was actually used by frontline units. i think the first widely used PIII was the E variant.
That's my assumption as well. I'd really like to do that Trumpeter VK 3001, Have you ever built that?
Adam Mann
indeed, it is a cool kit apart from the tracks, they do not look nice. however, it is a very cheap kit so you can´t really complain there.

Rob BasicModelling thats a good tip, thank you for telling me that :)
Hamilkar Barkas We're all in it together.. as the Government says here in Britain while they take all our monies... :)
Rob BasicModelling haha most certainly! it is the same eveywhere apparently which does not comfort me in any way.

Oh yeah theyve promised a c and d soon.

Burmi6666
looks like a really nice kit, good review as Always.
moddeling loonie thank you :)
looks like a great model.

i´m looking forward to build this tanky :) it looks so cool!
Hamilkar Barkas shall be great to see what you do with it :)
Oh my! That kit just went on my wish list!
Thanks for that excellent review Michael. My wallet won't haha.

Awesome looking, even if ist's mini art.
The thing is that this tracks seems like a really long job to do.....way to complicated....
Bill Koutroulis that is the latest fashion i think, modelkasten tracks were like that for decades.

Maybe convert it to a stug "O" version. The first stug....:)
Wormkiller Dan a cool idea, but first of all i want to build the kit, maybe we can get the early stug from miniart too at some point?
Geil!
Manuel Niklaus ja so kanns gehn, überraschung! :)dankeschön!
HALELUAH! HALELUAH!
I'm wondering what he retail price is.
Joe Makes Model Kits finally it is here, yessss :) it costs around 45€, i said it in the vid and wrote it in the video description too.
Wie ist die Passgenauigkeit so
Soweit ich weiß recht passabel.
C'est du travail de profesionelle
Lilp Lecoeur Merci monsieur!
Hamilkar Barkas merci

Damn you, I wanted to make a review for this one :P
