  • As a child, Michelle Payne dreamed of one day winning the Melbourne Cup. Following in her father’s footsteps, she began horse racing at an early age, often competing as the only woman in the traditionally male-dominated sport. In 2015, she made history, becoming the first woman in 150 years to win the Melbourne Cup. Today, she’s paving the way for the next generation of women to ride on and live out their dreams.

    When I saw the movie ride like a girl I just knew I wanted to become a jockey. And I want to show that both genders are equal. Just seeing Michelle Payne win the Melbourne cup was such an inspiration, she also made a good promise to steve.

      The genders are not equal though. They're not even equal under the law. Add the physical, psychological and biochemical differences and you have two very distinct groups.
      Am I saying women are worthless? No. I'm saying men and women are completely different in every way imaginable.

    What I think I find most amazing is that her horse was $101 to win. The least favourite in the race.

    How to make history:
    Step 1: be a woman
    Step 2: pick a male dominated career

    I liked your content when it was none political as in many first world countries women have equal rights and we should focus on countries that don’t give everyone equal rights. Also isn’t sexist that we’re giving her more attention for being a women and winning a race that a lot of people have won before

    "Jockeying for Gender Equality." This channel has become a joke. They are literally one of the few sports that everyone competes together(mainly because women actually have an advantage in this over guys). It's not the guys fault that no woman, until now, has won the Melbourne Cup, despite having the big advantage of being lighter.

    How ethical is this type of sport for the animals? I can’t help but conclude that horses shouldn’t be involved in this type of sport. Any thoughts?

    • @MSpencer1998
      @MSpencer1998 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Deep Purple they're literally bred for this. And you'd be surprised at the lavishness of a competition horse's lifestyle. It's not like riding hurts the horse.

    • @crazyzockerz
      @crazyzockerz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      PittsBear You clearly know nothing about horses. Riding can damage the horse. And horse Racing kills horses. They start riding them when they are two years old. Horses should not be ridden before they are 5. Many horses also get drugged and abused. This industry is crazy.

    • @crazyzockerz
      @crazyzockerz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @tf344
      @tf344 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      crazyzockerz thank you for your detailed response. Human greed and carelessness never cease to surprise me. The concept of “riding horses” just doesn’t fit well with my personal moral compass. Unfortunately, I think I’m definitely part of the minority with regards to this opinion.

    • @crazyzockerz
      @crazyzockerz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Deep Purple Yw. I agree with you! Horses arent meant to be ridden. Most uneducated riders know nothing about what they are doing and hurt their horses (with ill-fitted saddles or bits). We need to teach the horses to carry their own weight better in order for them to be able to carry a rider. (F.e. like in the academic Art of riding) Sadly most people dont care and just do what they want. Poor horses.

      sue ali Riding can damage the horse. And horse Racing kills horses. If they hurt themselves they et slaughtered. People start riding them when they are two years old. Horses should not be ridden before they are 4-5. Many horses also get drugged and abused. This industry is crazy. So do your research instead of talking shit on the Internet. Thank you.
