The super35 50mm was a mistake for me. I like it but 50mm is still way too tight for most things, and 1.33x just doesn't feel like enough to me. This or the 24mm are very enticing but I think I'd still go for some kind of 1.6x or 2.0x in the future.
Remember that the FX-30 has an apsc sensor so it looks a lot more zoomed in compared to a full frame at the same focal length
35mm in apsc is comparable to 50mm in full frame, so using a 50mm in apsc is comparable to 80mm in full frame.
You have to compensate by either using a speed booster (which isn't possible in this lens) or getting a wider lens in the first place

I'm in the same frame of mind as another comment here - how much better is an anamorphic lens over framing the scene appropriately and cropping to suit. Simple stuff to do and helped by settings like those out of a GoPro.
Everyone keeps going on about 'CINEMATIC', but who is it really for?
To me, cinematic is Lawrence of Arabia or something from Sergio Leone - where the cinematic aesthetic is more than just the output of a lens.
Reverse engineering an epic scene is something of interest. This is the result, but let's go back and see how it was done - as opposed to "here's an anamorphic lens for your iPhone, now go and make cinematic content."
The creative process is the stumbling point, not the availability of bling!

What's the difference in having this lens versus cropping in post? Also, having to buy an external monitor and squeeze the footage in post...is it worth the cost?
Anamorphic lenses don't just crop the image. They also distort bokeh in ways that you cannot recreate in post.
Whether or not this is worth it is only something YOU can answer, as you should only be buying things that help further your business. If you're doing corporate talking heads stuff, anamorphic lenses might not be for you. But if you're doing narrative stuff, then sure.

@@mokamp4 true, you can, but it won't be anywhere near as good as the real thing. Additionally, there are certain ways an anamorphic lens distorts the bokeh that you simply CANNOT recreate in post.
And as any successful entrepreneur/business owner will tell you, time is money, so the smart move is to just use an ACTUAL anamorphic lens and save tons of time for a BETTER effect.
If only Sony would put open gate in their cameras.

@@thefilmalliance I use light room. I change the geometry by changing the aspect ratio to -100 but it still looks a little long. FYI I'm super new to photography and videography.

Does the FX30 shoot anamorphic though? Aren’t you losing resolution shooting like this? Different to how GH5 does anamorphic.

No, but you could add it with DJI's lidar focus system.

Anamorphic are not besser or worst than spherical, both can create cinematic takes, I guess most people do not know it including this channel owner.
To bad it doesn’t have real gears so I don’t buy it. Sad.
