      Got that right bet that all the home owners are wishing to live life like us no scenery we can not change and beholden to no one I go with god not mans law! Homes 4wAlls cell ,street prison wing, town is your prison,and I don't want to be stuck in a derelict post. Industrial cotton town that is the most deprived areas in theUK.so I refuse to stay in this poverty ridden region so I'm going to try with my dog to see if we can do the camping life?especially since I'm recovering from a smashed patella and I'm just getting back to feeling good ish?my dog from day one has helped me to get here she's been my physical therapist etc, and because I'm a lone wolf I've had to do everything all dog owners have to do?so much like having a small child to care for but I love her and she is my motivation and now reason to live!heres to getting out there soon knee permitting.my dog gave me the idea of going off grid cos I want her to see proper fields and see nature,not just noise of towns,cities,but the noise I just want my friend to be truly happy doggy forgot to tell you that she's a rescue dog who I took off cos she was going to be a breeder or fighter and she would of probably be dead now but for me getting her away now you have a small idea why I'm going to try going off grid!Ian.!

    Seen a lot of hiking vids, done a few of my own hikes over the years. I know what it's like to pitch in the dark and not where your supposed to be. Your video was well done and was informative. Those "other" hiker folks that put out these videos make it look clean and perfect weather etc. yours a real demonstration of both kit and trail.

    I come from a smaller city in Germany called Ratingen, where a man build up the first spinning machine in continental europe, the landlords house is called "Haus Cromford", and now I know where this name comes from ;) additionally this was one of the first major incidents of industrial espionage, copying the waterframe. I love videos like this, I enjoy backpacking and camping and I love seeing locations in other countries. This is an amazing way of getting to see just how beautiful the the country is over there. Most of what we get fed in the US is London, the city stuff, it's always a thrill for me to see actual landscapes (and not just Big Ben and the Palace) this is gorgeous! thank you for sharing

    I was looking for my first long distance hike and this video inspired me to give this one a try. I completed it over the August bank holiday and loved it. I had the same camping problem as you on the last night and camped near to where you did, but in some scrub behind trees, screened from the path. Traffic noise all night was a pain though! I really enjoy your videos, many thanks!

    This is a very nice descriptive video showing all the nicely manicured walkways and historic villages that make for an enjoyable stroll through the British countryside. Very nicely presented Paul. Its the sort of image that many of us from the Antipodes would expect to see when we venture to the mother land (Scotland for me- 5 generations back) which I hope won't be too long away. Paul a young bloke like you shouldn't be needing painkillers on such a pleasant hike your doing here. Blisters!! Mate the next time you buy a pair of hiking boots/shoes try wearing 2 pairs of heavy quality Merino woolen socks to the shop. You look quite restricted in your gait when viewed from behind. It appears your boots are far too tight and your feet need to be held in place by a couple of layers of woolen socks and not by the structure of your boots. Personal advice from over 55 years of daily work and hiking boot wear. A double layer of wool helps stop your feet sweating and becoming soft, hence blisters, but of course everyone has a different foot shape.

  • @metalbearuk
    @metalbearuk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you're looking for pain free footwear, have a look at AKU boots. They don't really seem to have taken off in the UK that much, but they're the only ones I'll buy now, pain free from first wear, and never had a blister. Combined with HJ Hall Protek socks gives really comfortable walking.

    A thoroughly enjoyable watch. If you wild camp just short of the next town and maybe head off the trail then you can stroll into civilisation next morning for breakfast. A very informative video. Atb Chris

    I'm only up to 6 mins or so but i get really mad at campsites who 'only do caravans' . Surely they can see you're not a partying madman (not on this trip anyway) or some yob. Really boils my p#@s

      They are daft as a brush if they dont recognise you from youtube or google you. People can see your filming fools

      It probably wasn’t due to not being a ‘madman’ it was most likely due to their insurance policy. So not personal. I understand his frustration. 😁

      I've pitched on caravan sites and its been a nightmare. Tents usually segregated to near the play area. I've had football's hit my tent and the worry of broken tent poles. Some families caravaning with children are inconsiderate. On this occasion the caravan site looked quiet so perhaps OK but generally best to avoid. The rear garden of a pub is better.

    Thank you for your videos, I'm getting to see a side of England that I never would have seen. Can't wait to go back and do some of these hikes. Oh, I also switched from my vasque hiking boots to Altra Lone Peak shoes. My back and feet are much happier.

    This is so inspiring. So much of beautiful England and it’s history to see for free as you go along. So many exciting and adventurous weekends you can have for next to nothing (apart from ones initial kit lay out) This route is a godsend as my best mate lives in Froggatt and I have another close friend who lives in Sawley just a mile or so further on from Long Eaton so I’d have a bed for the night at one end and a bed for the night at the other. I would probably reduce my daily miles and preplan my camp sites though. Give me more recuperation time between days. Great video.
