Hiya is really giving S H MonsterArts a run for their money. This figure looks incredible on its own, but compared to the MonsterArts, it's a masterpiece.
The SH looks like more of a bootleg than it already did when compared to Hiya. I never wanted the original SH. I have the Special Color Vers, and i think that looks way better than their first one, but I'm stoked to get this. Hiya is blowing them out of the water with prices and quality.
Yeah, I'm conflicted if I want to maybe sell my special color version for this one. On one hand, the special color sh ghidorah is a very cool and striking gold color and I like how the wings don't have any gaps, but on the other the Hiya is more accurate, detailed, and while the wings have gaps you can articulate them.
I was disappointed by the original SHMA Ghidorah 2019 but from what I've seen from reviews, the special colour version looks alot better. The Hiya looks to be the best one though.
He's just glorious. I can forgive the slight paint issues. It's still mountains higher in quality terms above SHMA. At this price point? With this poseability? Screen accuracy? Hiya has indubitably established themselves as the new alpha. Long live the king!

Awesome review and figure! Can't wait till I get mine! I want Hiya to implement Ghidorah's wing system on Rodan. Kinda bugs me that Rodan has that gap in his wings when that's not how it looks on film. Might be a gripe, but I think it could really work.

My local game and hobby shop got one of these guys in, and I had to snag it! I haven't picked it up yet, but the excitement was killing me, so I had to see what I was in for. This is my first Hiya Toys product, and DANG what a way to start, eh? Also, it was awesome to hear Metroid Prime music in the end card.

Nothing is ever perfect indeed, but finally… a decently sized price tag without any of the silliness Bandai has chucked out on a semi regular basis. Very high on my favorite figures of the year list!

Ironically enough it makes him a bit more shelf safe too lol frees up a wee bit of room! Based Hiya move! I dig the underbelly paint too! It’s got quite the appeasing effect, really! Now I can’t wait to see what they do with an alternate variant 👀
Hiya toys really knocked it out of the park with this release because WOW i am speachless. The color and accuracy to the movie model is spot on and the ability to be put on knuckle walking mode is great too. The only complaint i have is the neck articulation is weak and that's something the Sh Monsterarts still has an advantage over hiya toys. But knowing how hiya listens to feedback then they will most likely release another version with a more refined neck system for Ghidorah. Great figure and for 120 bucks? Freaking A brother.
The best thing about this figure is that not only is the body, paint, quality are accurate but the articulation on the wings is what makes this figure way superior than the SHMA figure

Watching this video made me even more sure that Hiya Rodan is a bit undersized. Comparison between the pose on 16:31 and the actual Rodan vs King Ghidorah scene on the film shows the size inaccuracy (or maybe Rodan on that scene was upsized, just like the case with Godzilla 2014 San Francisco scene).

A figure I hope Hiya Toys makes is a Gravity Beam King Ghidorah with the same color scheme except this time they use yellow translucent plastic in the necks to show the charge up look Ghidorah is seen to have in movie and head with translucent yellow eyes like he had in the poster or movie and finally his gravity beam effect parts for each head and possibly some effect parts for the wings, that would be amazing and something sh monsterarts had never done.

The details, the paint, the size, and the paint is so on point, comparing to the monsterarts is night and day!!!!! I’ll say this, I like the bigger heads on sh monster arts, maybe If there’s ever another ghidorah released they make something between the size of the SH and the Hiya.

Pre ordered mine on Amazon! I just really wish that the Ghidorah, Kong, Mothra and Rodan wouldn’t all be shipped all in one day. Pre orders sold out twice so if I really wanna be committed to getting them I gotta spend almost $300 on a single purchase of them. I wish they’d release them like 2-4 weeks apart only because they’re pretty pricy! But I’m still excited for them nonetheless
Small bit of Ushabti Bone from Gw would solve the paint issues, for the bone at least. Wings could use a wash to match the body. Jesus christ tho, it smashes teh Monster Arts.
I bought the figure(way better then ah not even a contest) and I absolutely loved it, my only complaint is that I wish it had more gold paint on the body but it doesn’t bother me that much anyway
As far as kaiju figures for 2023 goes, Hiya Ghidorah is king. Too bad about the paint chip though. At the very least they should stop using ties in figures like Tamashii Nations so it doesn't chip away in package.
how are Hiya Toys so much better than BOTH Neca and SH Monsterarts?! It's got the poseability and quality of an SH Monsterarts figure but the sturdiness and affordable price of a Neca figure.

hiya toys has spoiled us so much im not even surprised anymore. each release can be the best figure of the kaiju as so much as toy manufacturer of the decade.
I have the Spiral Studio King Ghidorah Deluxe statue - and This figure's paint job is pretty much exactly the same. Also, your critiques of the paint job - you have to remember, these are each hand painted so. And if you look at any of the shma godzilla figures, pretty much none of their eyes are looking the same direction,
Wow this version is a huge improvement over the hsma version of Ghidorah. I mean yeah there are some issues but there miniscule in comparison. How much he cost.
I still remember how shma...had one ball joint connecting its wings, and its wings had no articulation. Is bro supposed to always be doing an alpha call?
Seeing the size comparisons…it would appear both Mothra and Rodan should have been larger in Hiya form. Just remembering the confrontation of Rodan vs KG and when Mothra flew at KG.
It looks nice, ut I do hope mine got no paint issue. Man, those unfinished paint on the tail thorn and the chipping oob on the wings and neck.... I know, I know. QC issue issa given for mass-produced releases, and you might think it's minor or not a deal breaking, but it is still a huge dissapointment for me, given how perfectly painted all prior releases were. Well, my burning goji did came with a tiny paint chip on one dorsal fin, but it's a minor paint issue in comparison to this. I could only hope that my copy would be perfect. I do know guy who do paint service and all, but man it'll cost a lot to ship it to him
Indeed, SHMA clear with neck articulation. Which is the usual. But if they announce a special color version, or even a battle damaged version WITH improved articulation.. I’d be pretty hard pressed to deny it.
Was the movie Godzilla figure you showed during the size comparisons portion the NECA movie Godzilla figure? If not, any idea how he scales with this Ghidorah?
The figure used was a Hiya KOTM Goji, the Hiya Goji figures are an inch or two bigger than NECA Gojis so, NECA Goji might be a wee bit smaller than he needs to be. But the effect of his presence against this Ghidorah would be rather terrifying!
Now, if Hiya does a Special Color Version of their Ghidorah, but in a vibrant Gold, like SHMA, they would have the definitive Ghidorah figure from the Monsterverse forsure...
Still wish he had proper Elbow joints to tuck in his wings even further for walking but this dude is so great I can give that a pass. I can work around that when it comes to shelf shenanigans Also idk why but I feel his necks are a smidge too long and the tails a bit too short (heisei figure apparently has the opposite)

I’ll say this, I like the bigger heads on sh monster arts, maybe If there’s ever another ghidorah released they make something between the size of the SH and the Hiya.

Pre ordered mine on Amazon! I just really wish that the Ghidorah, Kong, Mothra and Rodan wouldn’t all be shipped all in one day. Pre orders sold out twice so if I really wanna be committed to getting them I gotta spend almost $300 on a single purchase of them. I wish they’d release them like 2-4 weeks apart only because they’re pretty pricy! But I’m still excited for them nonetheless
Small bit of Ushabti Bone from Gw would solve the paint issues, for the bone at least. Wings could use a wash to match the body. Jesus christ tho, it smashes teh Monster Arts.
I bought the figure(way better then ah not even a contest) and I absolutely loved it, my only complaint is that I wish it had more gold paint on the body but it doesn’t bother me that much anyway

As far as kaiju figures for 2023 goes, Hiya Ghidorah is king. Too bad about the paint chip though. At the very least they should stop using ties in figures like Tamashii Nations so it doesn't chip away in package.

how are Hiya Toys so much better than BOTH Neca and SH Monsterarts?! It's got the poseability and quality of an SH Monsterarts figure but the sturdiness and affordable price of a Neca figure.

I have the Spiral Studio King Ghidorah Deluxe statue - and This figure's paint job is pretty much exactly the same. Also, your critiques of the paint job - you have to remember, these are each hand painted so. And if you look at any of the shma godzilla figures, pretty much none of their eyes are looking the same direction,

Seeing the size comparisons…it would appear both Mothra and Rodan should have been larger in Hiya form. Just remembering the confrontation of Rodan vs KG and when Mothra flew at KG.
It looks nice, ut I do hope mine got no paint issue. Man, those unfinished paint on the tail thorn and the chipping oob on the wings and neck.... I know, I know. QC issue issa given for mass-produced releases, and you might think it's minor or not a deal breaking, but it is still a huge dissapointment for me, given how perfectly painted all prior releases were. Well, my burning goji did came with a tiny paint chip on one dorsal fin, but it's a minor paint issue in comparison to this. I could only hope that my copy would be perfect. I do know guy who do paint service and all, but man it'll cost a lot to ship it to him
Sh has better neck articulation but ill prob wait till they make a reissue of the hiya one if they decide to.
Indeed, SHMA clear with neck articulation. Which is the usual. But if they announce a special color version, or even a battle damaged version WITH improved articulation.. I’d be pretty hard pressed to deny it.

Was the movie Godzilla figure you showed during the size comparisons portion the NECA movie Godzilla figure? If not, any idea how he scales with this Ghidorah?
The figure used was a Hiya KOTM Goji, the Hiya Goji figures are an inch or two bigger than NECA Gojis so, NECA Goji might be a wee bit smaller than he needs to be. But the effect of his presence against this Ghidorah would be rather terrifying!
We're now one step closer to getting a fully articulated wingarms for Ghidorah
