    Hi, The nob to raise and lower the headlight beam, is to allow for different body loads. A lot of weight in the rear of the car will raise the main beam, so you twiddle the nob to lower the beam. No weight in the rear, then the beam may be too low, so rais the beam. All modern European cars have this feature.

      French car drivers know this since the Middle Ages, because even the 2 CV had this feature due to its weak springs.

    In the UK all cars have adjustable headlights. They're used to keep the lowbeams below the eye level of incoming traffic. Heavy loads in the back, or a full passanger load will compress the rear suspension and tilt up the beams.

    2:57 That control is used to adjust the height of the light beam if you are transporting heavy loads or passengers, if you're driving alone, the wheel must be set to zero, if you have maximum passengers and trunk load, must be set to 3 ;-D

    At 9:58 its a (cool box). That part of the glove box is for keeping drinks cold. You have to turn that black knob at the roof of the glove box.

      I feel like this sounds like a practical joke (Chinese people generally don't like cold drinks), but I'll check it out after I get my A/C compressor fixed to see if it's legit.

    OK, I liked your video because:
    1. Its full of useful advice of an actual owner of an actual, in-use electric car. what makes it especially relatable is that its just a daily grind electric car, the kind of which i am likely to buy one day if i go electric (thus, suburban owner reviews of Tesla arent really useful to me). Such videos as yours are very hard to find, and hereby want to extend my thanks to you. It's TH-cam at it's best, I believe.
    2. i love your humor.
    3. you had me when you said "you dont have to subscribe". seriously, almost everyone these day is "please subscribe...." and i'm sick of it, honestly. so, kudos for that too.

    Its a regular 2-Din infotainment, you could just plug in a new unit that probably works a lot better.
    Also im honestly kind of impressed that these things exist for the pricing and to the "quality" that they do.

    Any updates or additional thoughts on this car? Used models are now currently on sale in some African countries (specifically mine Rwanda) so I'm really interested to hear more about the reliability. Yours is the best English speaking review of the car I have seen...

      I junked it before leaving China in early 2021. I can't recommend it in terms of reliability. Toward the end, it started spending more time in the shop than it did on the road. Batteries also degraded significantly (by the end, it was dying out at 42%). That was kind of disappointing because for the first few years I was very fond of the car. I would recommend other brands if they're available to you.

    Headlight levelling is usually fitted to vehicle capable of towing. When the towball/tow hitch is weighted, the front of the towing vehicle rises. Thus the need to lower the headlights level. So for non-towing driving, set the headlights to high. If you’re towing or have a very heavy load in the boot/trunk weighting over the rear axle, lower the the level.

    @3:42 the knob is about to make sure if you transport heavy load (of a lot of people) to grant to not blend the people in the other direction. If you put 200kg´s or whatever in the trunk, your headlights will start looking into the air, so you can lower them ^^ every regular car I am aware of has this implemented (but at least the more modern car´s might have automatic adjust).

    Adjustable headlights are compulsory in EU, for instance. They are used to compensate changes when rear bench and boot load is heavy and the headlights start pointing too high.

    Awesome, thanks for the update. Would love to see more test drives of it. Chinese EV's now are way better than this was, they're progressing so quickly. Really hope they come to the U.S. soon. They're so cheap and modern and have a ton of features for the price. Would definitely drive a BYD for sure, their new models are gorgeous

    Hello from Cairo Egypt. Thank you very much. Just as it happens a guy on FB was asking a group if we could get together to buy a few and ship them to Egypt. The group will get a better price for shipping at least. At any rate the scary part was that we might not get the warranty that you used to change the hardware that you talked about. We are trying to force Baic Egypt to support and warne such cars even if we import them privately. I am also trying to force Uber to have a percentage of their fleet electric just like India is trying to do. This way we will reduce the price of the km travelled. Your video is highly appreciated. I am sure many of the guys on the FB group will look at it. So Thank you and best regards from Cairo Egypt.

      How long do you plan to drive the EV car? Do you know replacing the car battery can cost you an arm and a leg? Without warranty this is going to be a risky investment.

    The reason why this kind of looks like a Mercedes B-Class is that BAIC does business with Mercedes-Benz in China, so maybe MB doesn't care as much. BAIC EV160's gasoline version is called Senova D20 and all of them are based on the old Mitsubishi Colt platform which was also used for Smart ForFour 1st gen.

    Rear drum brakes are still standard in compact or smaller cars. They cost less than disks and drums still are sufficient for rear wheels on light vehicles.

    Great info on MIC EV. In Asia (Malaysia, Indonesia, Philipines, Thailand) some of the mid-range Japanese cars (SUV, MPV, sedan) still employ front disc brakes and rear drum brake configuration. Can MIC EV's battery be easily replaced?

    I wanna buy Baic EU5 in Egypt, not sure about spare parts availability but they give 3 years warranty on motor, battery, and controller do think it's a good idea? Will it need a lot of maintenance or it's reliable?

    I have been driving electric cars here in the USE for 5 years not, first a Nissan leaf, now a VW E-Golf, since I live 8 miles from work, range is not an issue (80 mile range) and I only charge at home, no real charging structure in my city unless you own a tesla

    Nice video. It's very hard to find reviews from the chinese stuff since most youtubers rate them as very poor quality. Another thing is that chinese people and company are not such a good TH-camrs to present their things.. when you see an interesting product from them you hardly can't find reviews.
    Well I'm from Mozambique and that quality is more than ok for us here.. for that price I think its reasonable that somethings will always break.. but maintenance of these EVs are also cheap.
    I'd like to see a review on the new models coming with solar panels for 4500 to 5500 usd... Still a ok price when you compare to more popular brands from big companies. And by the end of the day we just drive less than 40kms a day average. I can happily live with a car like that...
    I currently own a chinese eletric scooter and Im in the third year.. stuck cuz the charger stop working and I had to import a new charger that was not suitable and damaged all my batteries.. problem is just hard to find the right things from here..

      The traffic police in my area are so busy forcing electric scooter riders to get on the sidewalk and off the road that they hardly have time to look at my brake lights. But I have got that fixed since taking this video.

    The beam adjuster is obligatory in the EU. Therefore it is world standard outside the USA. USA does not sell a lot of cars in Europe and for those they have that adjustment too. It is meant to be used when you have a load in the back (passengers) to prevent blinding other traffic. By default it must be at zero (and then not blind anyone, which is an MOT item) and then lowers when used up to 3 (or 5) in most cars. The lights switch comes from Mitsubishi. That has foglights.

      It just has to be at the "0" mark during MOT and have correct beam height, they don't actually check that the lights are adjustable! (tip for those who have an old car where the lamp motors burned out decades ago)

    A minor correction:
    Uber sold all their of China holdings to Didi in 2016
    (if I am not mistaken)
    On a side note, I am starting to understand why BYD was the default choice when it comes to Chinese EVs.
    (Though Geely, SAIC, NiO & GAC are starting to challenge that)

      I wonder if the Uber sale was out of Uber's own interests, or strong government pressure to either sell out or get out. I would believe either, but what I know about the internet service market here says that unless you're willing to act as an arm of the national government, you won't get far. Maybe Uber just cut their losses when faced with government pressure. And maybe not.

      In fact, they very nearly folded (And would have before the IPO). As far as government pressure go, it is true for all countries, big or small, developed or developing, democratic or socialist or autocratic or oligarchic.
      If your presence does not please the Gman, it will not be tolerated.

      Oh. Come on. Unless you have concrete evidences, why make such assumptions that a Chinese company outcompetes a foreign company must be because the government’s help? Back in the days when wechatpay and Alipay were competing for the mobile payment market share, pretty much everyone in China get subsidised, if not free rides when using a taxi/ride-sharing service from those two companies. There was no way any other company including Uber would have been able to compete with them. Plus didi is part of wechat ecosystem. It’s no surprise to any Chinese people that didi would outcompete Uber.

      Yes. I had to get a local driver's license (mine from back home is no good here, nor are international driving permits) and the car needs to be insured to be road legal.

    Really enjoyed hearing about your car. it seems to me that we could use a car something like yours in Canada.....you know, no bells and whistles, just basic electric transportation. Most EVs that are available here used come from California, and still carry price tags from $16,000 on up. Still not what I could call affordable. It seems we're kind of in an EV black hole where everything goes to Cali first, and nothing comes direct to us, except for the new Nissan Leaf, and the Niro, Kona and Soul if they're ever available. Something like this would definitely fill a demand here. One thing I was wondering about was the enforced scrapping in Shenzen. Hadn't heard of that before. Could you elaborate? Thanks for your video.

      The enforced scrapping comes into play in a few situations. I'm not 100% up to date on everything, but I know my car is up for destruction in 2023 because it was once a leased or rental car (the nuances of that are lost in translation). There are also a series of "national standards" (国标) for cars that can cause cars to become obsolete. There's talk that a new national standard will come out soon which will likely force some older cars to either be scrapped or re-registered in more rural areas, which means they lose certain privileges in big cities like Shenzhen. I have a 2006 Volkswagen that is registered in another small city where I used to live. I can't register it in Shenzhen for a number of reasons, but the biggest one is its age and the national standards issue. Anyway, national standards won't prematurely end my EV160's life because being a fully electric car means it's already going to meet any new standard for a good while, and given the reliability problems with it, I'm sure it will have died before the 2023 deadline. If not I'll store it somewhere in the countryside with family members.
      That's all just "knowledge" I've gained from listening to people talk and reading things, though. It could be wrong.
      Finally, I very strongly agree that north american markets really need entry-level, bare bones EVs, but for some reason they don't get marketed.

I guess it's partly due to the government making sure the streets aren't full of older, unreliable cars, or it could be part of their pollution mandate.       @@extraordinarilyuglycouch9410 i think the Chinese EV cars are still hard to meet North American safety standards with that kind of costs. The selling price will be significantly higher when it goes to western market. Actually one of these Chinese made EV mini cars are already launched in Spain and Portugal. The price is about 14000 euros. But it is still very basic and only serves the purpose of taking a passenger from point A to point B.

      @@weldorman8495 the EV cars made in China are heavily subsidized by the government. Its real cost could be much higher when exporting to another country. A smaller mini EV car exports to Spain is selling at €14000.

    Head light ajust is for if car is loaded and back weighed down you head lights are then higher up and not on the ground it’s probably Chinese drivers have not used that function and when thay have people in car there lights are blinding you from behind

      The EV160 handles short steep grades like a dream thanks to its high torque. I’ve only taken it up a proper mountain once and I didn’t get to see how it was because I was stuck behind someone driving really slowly. It’s rated at 73 horsepower which is a very low number, but since it’s an EV at low speeds the high torque means it pulls away from other cars really fast despite the low power rating.

      I would think it must be well behind Tesla given the price point and country of origin, but I really don't know. Sometimes things can surprise you in China.

    chinese ev cars are cheap some of them have great driving range on a single charge that are non certified by wltp or epa tests
    you live in china and you understand chinese
    you are one of the few links between china and english speaking world
    if i were you i’d review another evs to confirm those ranges and test drive them and ask about their reliability
    anyway good job

      45000 CNY. xe.com is a great website to convert that into the currency you're familiar with. It is cheap but as it is in the repair shop again for more than 2 weeks (and I drive my 13 year old Volkswagen which has never broken down again) it was not even worth this very low price.

    156Wh/km, much better than Tesla and other giant EVs. This car would only emit 71g CO2/km in the US =2/3 of the average European car, which current EVs sold in Europe and the US can't simply because they are too big and heavy! This is the type of vehicle we need, not remanufactured gasoline cars that just have gotten batteries stuffed into them.

      That's an interesting statistic. I wonder if it's because it's comparatively light. I'm assuming it's lighter than many of those EVs because it also has shorter range and simply doesn't have all that many extra weight-adding features.
      However, this is a previous-generation Mercedes B200 with batteries stuffed in it and rebadged as BAIC, meaning it is actually a gasoline car with batteries stuffed into it.

      @@extraordinarilyuglycouch9410 Damned, I was proven wrong then, but true enough, if you drive at city speeds, rolling resistance is 2/3 of your consumption, so the smaller car wins there.

    i am driving the car. it is reliable and easy to park. brake is terrible of course. anyway, cheap car got worse performance.

    Seems about typical with Chinese products. They tend to be "good enough" but nothing spectacular and there will always be some area of the product that is laughably horrid. I never really understood the reasoning behind how Chinese companies do things. I mean, the horrible areas of a product could be made a lot better with very little increase in cost. Maybe they think it's a slippery slope and if they spend a little more here, they will have to spend a little more there, and the next thing you know your product is more expensive than competitors and you don't make as much money.

      Buddy, I can't agree with you more. I have two pairs of pliers, one China, the other one Germany or US. The Chinese one is as hard and solid as the other one in metal construction; however, the rubber handle covers would get loose when you use a lot of strength. The Chinese one cost about 3-4 dollars, the other one several times more expensive. They did the main metal part good but why not put in a little more effort and improve the rubber, then double the price. It will still be way more competitive than the US or the German one and you can double your profit.

    All Chinese lectric cars have the same fault they are dangerous the battery goes flat the brakes fail crap wouldn’t have a free Chinese car
