Hard to top some of that 'Halloween" film artwork. Even the 'Nightmare series" with their iconic posters. Plus, so many of those films never got a big distro, making them even more "cultish".

Scary prices indeed Steve!..Can't say I'm a huge horror movie fan although the first Halloween movie made for some pretty spooky viewing as a young teenager..the music is of course iconic and unforgettable..I was at a record fair recently and saw the original soundtrack to The Omen by Jerry Goldsmith..was tempted but it was pretty pricey and more than I wanted to pay. Interesting video..thanks for sharing.
Hi Rob. Yeah some people are serious about their Horror soundtracks huh! Halloween one made an impression on me as a kid too. I was 12 years old when I saw that movie. Honestly if I wasn’t born on Halloween I’d probably sell all these and buy some first pressing Jazz, Funk or Psych. It’s fun using these records on Halloween though. That’s the only turn table time they see. Thanks for tuning in. Cheers. Steve
Just read this on the google 😂 How in the halloween should you spell 'Halloween'? The spelling of Halloween derives from its earlier name All Hallows Even (or eve) which took place the night before All Hallows Day, now known as All Saints Day. All Hallows Even was shortened to Hallowe'en, and later to Halloween.
I just scanned through this video randomly this morning while eating my breakfast to see what records were mentioned. I've got that Halloween II lp here, same press. Bought it off my mate about 20 years ago along with a Friday the 13th 3D soundtrack for the price of a pint. Forgot I have them!
I knew about the high value of your Halloween record. Nice collection, especially for someone with a 10 / 31 B Day ! 🎃I've never seen The Philly Joe Jones record. Whenever I see him as a sideman, I pick it up !
I never in 1 million years would’ve imagined that a sealed copy of Alvin Schwartz’s album scary stories to tell in the dark would sell for $1200 and opened copies selling for up to 450 multiple times. I’ve listened to it many times. It’s a great record. I just don’t know if it’s $450 great. I keep searching to find out if there’s some significance to the album that gives it such incredible value. So far I have found nothing. The Philly Joe Jones record is killer. I thought maybe Philly Joe was born on Halloween too just like me. Lol wishful thinking.
As for Hallowe'en, it's short for All Hallows Even (Eve) so that's why the alternate spelling has an apostrophe in it, because it's a contraction. Use to see it all the time, especially in the '60s. As for the Halloween soundtracks, you have movie buffs who collect soundtracks, so that increases competition for record collectors to obtain these albums resulting in higher prices. You can see that effect in other collectors' markets such as toy trains where you have both toy collectors and train collectors vying for the same collectible.
Hi Dan. Great information on the spelling. I appreciate you sharing. Yes the Halloween buffs and Horror Soundtrack lovers do drive the high market prices, especially for the more rare pieces such as these. Thank you for watching and sharing great information with us. ✌🏽 Steve
