Same. The hardest part for me was training my right hand. Being left handed shreddery is usually easier, but as a bluegrass rhythm guitarist, the right hand was the hardest for me to get comfortable with. But when it clicked, it was like a new super power.
My brother is a lefty, he just forced himself to learn to play right handed instead of waiting for our dad to find a left handed guitar for him. I love it. I’m planning to relearn guitar left handed when I turn 50.
I am another lefty who plays right-handed! Day 1 of guitar lessons when I was 10 years old. Guitar teacher sees me holding my little nylon string acoustic left-handed. His reaction: “NOPE! That’s not gonna work!!” and flipped it around, re-strung it right-handed, and said “you’re going to play right-handed from now on” 😂😂 Not gonna lie, he did me a huge favor looking back at it haha
My dad was left handed but taught himself to play normally with a right handed guitar. He could play everything from Les Paul, Chet Atkins, and the like. The best guitar player I’ve ever known.
I'm a lefty that plays a left-handed guitar but with the strings reversed (Low E on the bottom) Couldn't find a left-handed guitar growing up in the middle of nowhere, so I took what I could find, held it how it was most comfortable, and started learning the chords. Still play that way 20 years later. In guitar stores now, I have to get the feel of a left-handed body but I have to test the sound on a right-handed body.
I'm a lefty and I play right handed because it makes more sense to be more accurate with my fretting hand (my dominant) and have more dexterity with my right I also only had right handed guitars to learn on...
I remember my best friend in 8th grade was the one who taught me slot of guitar and helped me pick it up so fast. He started doing drugs and having mental issues like schizophrenia and decided to reverse his guitars string them up backwards and learn guitar as a lefty. He got pretty good at it but it was very odd as he was much better as a right handed player but gave it up for some reason. I miss that guy.
Im left handed but there is no way I would ever torture myself by trying to play one of those backwards guitars. On a regular guitar my left hand is playing all of the hard parts. My right hand just has to act like a monkey and pick the string. They say 90% of the people learning to play guitar quit. I say it's because they're trying to play it backwards. Right-handed people should be doing the hard parts with the right hand the way Hendrixs did. Use the left hand to pick the string.
@@paul-davidalmond716 it is a big advantage. You're not trying to train your hand and learn the guitar at the same time. Watching a right handed person trying to learn the most difficult things they will ever learn and try to do it with the hand they never use is hard to watch.
Another fun fact: Paul first tried playing righty, but couldn’t get the rhythm down. Then one night he was watching TV and saw Slim Whitman playing left-handed, and the rest is history.
I’ve played left handed guitar since the early 70’s. Back then there was very few lefty guitars. I finally in 1976-77 bought a Deluxe Les Paul. Now Almost all manufacturers have at least a couple left handed models.
I'm a lefty guitar player it's the best way I could do such ..got a new lefthanded model Schecter Omen Extreme 6 string in black cherry color it's sweet and plays great sounds great ...heavy string on top...seems about 10 % are lefty players...
I always feel so bad for lefty players. I go to my local guitar store and there are all these amazing guitars in right and then like 4 lefts off to the side..
This is why the best thing any left-handed person can do when starting to learn is just start playing right-handed. When you know nothing about an instrument yet it makes no difference in your ability to learn either way.
We have a store in Houston called Southpaw Guitars that is specifically for left handed guitars. I’m a righty but it’s cool that there is a shop out there for lefties.
Guitar is a two-handed instrument. There are no left and right-handed guitars. There are only left facing and right facing guitars. For my new students I tell them to pick the orientation with the most models available. 😉
Facts! In an orchestra, the reason why there aren't left handed anything is because I'm sure the string section would appreciate having their eyes intact! 😂
the lack of availability of left handed guitars generally is a real shame for lefty guitar players the world over. no, I don't think we should be thanking the right handed population for ignoring our needs resulting in most of us learning guitar the wrong way round out of convenience
It definitely seems that way now, but originally the guitar was only a harmony instrument. People basically just played chords on the left and a variety of strumming and chicken picking from the right hand.
Ive strung up lefty guitars righty. I curse leo fender putting the volume knobs right under my strumming hand. Had guitars change volume mid song while playing live and i dont always realize i accidentally brushed the knob. Curse you Leo.
As a right handed player I’d rather you take a percentage of the profit from my sale to subsidise left handed instruments so everyone can enjoy playing guitar.
Robert Fripp is naturally left handed and forced himself to play right handed cos none of the music stores in Denmark Street (London to you septics) sold LH Guitars. Me, on the other hand, I was p,aging right handed and one day impulse bought what I thought was a RH Strat clone. Well, it was a WEM Rapier 33 (60s vintage) and it turns out it was LH. I tried every which way to play it RH to no avail. I currently have a GLPC BB with Bigsby, 355 vintage natural, Schecter with Floyd Rose, two Strats and a Tele, a Martin Acoustic, an EKO jumbo acoustic and an Antoria SG cooy. Yep, they’re all Left Handed…and I’m 69 years young…and Mr. Fripp lives just down the road from my home.
Don't you just cringe at people who never get criticized and everyone laughs at their jokes that aren't funny? I'm getting strong vibes of that with this short.
I am a left-handed guitarist who plays right-handed. My left is more strong, while my right has more dexterity (no pun intended).
💯

Picking is tricky, but legato go crazy
Your left is use to sliding up and down a neck makes sense because I’m also a lefty who learned to play on a right handed guitar
Id like to have a left handed piano.
They make reverse machines for electric keyboards, but lefty pianos are expensive
My brother is a lefty, he just forced himself to learn to play right handed instead of waiting for our dad to find a left handed guitar for him. I love it.
I’m planning to relearn guitar left handed when I turn 50.
All the best where lefty’s who play right handed . Gary Moore , mark knofler on that list 👍

Glad to see that Johnny is mellowing with age😊…
He let out a dad-like chuckle at the end, he does seem even more laidback
@@hesaid6227that chuckle was the cherry on top
I pray that god gives John good health and continued success
Please make more lefty models!

I also pray that John and I get to jam together someday, just me and him with our guitars up on stage me playing his songs and him playing mine.

I’m a lefty who plays right handed. I encourage all my lefty students to play right handed as I did as it makes absolutely no difference

This is actually a pretty interesting take. Never thought about it like that
@@bryantwalley I have considered being a southpaw on a right handed axe as an advantage.

Fellow lefty here who has always had the same opinion.
Im left handed and a dedicated lefty player, if lefties were not being made I would have made my own.
As a lefty, thanks for making us not feel left out for the 1037573820102057592020475848th time!
Fun fact: Paul McCartney used a Hoffner bass because it was symmetrical so looked the same played lefty.
Another fun fact: Paul first tried playing righty, but couldn’t get the rhythm down. Then one night he was watching TV and saw Slim Whitman playing left-handed, and the rest is history.
Graham Russell of Air Supply has played a right-handed guitar upside down for decades.

Most of us right handed people wanted a left handed guitar to string backwards to get the Jimi tone.
On the other hand, if it wasn’t for the right - handers, left handers would have never had a problem in the first place 😄
I’m left handed. I play right handed guitar. Think about it. It makes WAY MORE SENSE

I keep hearing people say they’re lefty who play righty, unfortunately I am righty who plays lefty.

I think that right handed guitars were made for a left handed person so the dominant hand did the fretting im sure iv heard this statement.
It definitely seems that way now, but originally the guitar was only a harmony instrument. People basically just played chords on the left and a variety of strumming and chicken picking from the right hand.
I'm a left handed guitarist and honestly I can never find a 12 string to have a shot of. You end up having to order guitars online
Where are the left handed pianos?
Are there any other instruments where they make left handed versions?
Drums
Where's this from
seems they’re teasing an interview that will drop on the channel…& also that lefty Silver Sky’s will now be a thing!

My daughter's a lefty boy could use one ❤
You have No idea how frustrating it is to be an avid left-handed guitarist... Collecting can sometimes be an exercise in futility.
Just heard the property was bought for 60mln$ but was valued for 21mln$ so why $39mln extra was spend on it?
I think that whole thing was for the punchline at the end
Wagner Moura new character.
When did Rachel maddow start playing the guitar?
I use both hands
My boy johnny starting to show some age
Would people has said that to Jimmy who had a right hand guitar strung upside down

Geez he looks old. Love this guy still
We definitely don’t thank that PRS dude that don’t like to make lefty guitars dude
Does he have the mumps??
He's getting old.
This dude has always gotten on my nerves. I guarantee he would not let you merge in traffic and if you let him in he wouldn’t even wave thank you.
