Keith I use jjkeller elogs and yes you are right the splits work fine. The calculation is 14-time used between short breaks = time given. Example drive for 5 hours and too 5 hours and 30 minutes on duty time. You get 8 hours 30 minutes once the computer see what it needs to see. 8 or 7 sleeper. 2 or 3 off duty or sleeper. The drive time is 11 - time driven = time given between the split 8/2. 7/3 breaks.
I just did full 10 hr sleeper. Then 15 minutes off duty. Now. I do at least 15 minute pretrip, drive 7 hrs, 15 minutes on duty check in then 8 hr sleeper. Now, should I have done a post trip before the 8 hrs sleeper or does it matter? also what about after the 8 hrs sleeper, do I do another pretrip and drive the rest of my time then do post trip and then 2hr sleeper. once that is over and I regain some drive time do I do another 15 minute pretrip. I am a little confused on the split sleeper birth when I should do my post trips and pre trips. I'm sure for some it's a no brainer but I just started using logs so I'm a little confused.
Glad I’m retired! This ELD mandate has got truckers so mess up (and the dot knows it along with the fmcsa), that they’re gonna have a field day with fining drivers which is what they want!! It’s all about revenue!! DOT AND FMCSA is singing the song-MONEY,MONEY,-MONEY!!!
Before you start splitting you of course need hours on your 70, then you must take 10 off before you start the splitting process so your on a fresh 14 and then go from there.
Eight/two on elog is crap. You could wait two more hours after your eight and get your ten and have a full day instead of gaining a measley three hours you just gained.
The real purpose of an 8 /2 split is to push your 14 hour clock out those 8 hours, then a 2 hour break gives you your full ten hour reset. You might want to consider that , it can make a huge difference given the right set of circumstances. I use the 8/2 split and in many cases I would lose loads without it. It really depends on what your doing , to some drivers it is pretty much useless . To others it’s fairly valuable.

Finally makes sense. Thank you sir.
Why only 5:32 drive time left?
More than likely drove 5:30 or so in previous drive session

You're 1 funny looking fella Keith

Hmm no u don't need a fresh 10 u cam run 8-2 or 2-8. I don't waste hrs normally run 8-9 hrs. The 8hrs extends your 14
Do you have to a pre trip again after your 8 hour break
Depends.. I do a walkaround usually at end of day. I log it 10min or so just so noone can say anything
great tutorial thanks
And for his next video....
How to focus camera !!!

Maybe u dont need a full clock just a couple hrs..I prefer 8-2 being i only sleep a few hrs thx to military..lol

What3ver floats ur boat
Man everybody always think there getting over but you screwing up just get all ur time and roll out an make them miles
Nothing said about getting over... Just cause folks dont use it they shouldnt knock it.. I hate sittn for 10hrs.. So 8-2 works
Can u do like a 9 a 1 scenario
+Ralph Koritzke u can but you will lose 2hrs..it has to be 8 in sleeper and 2 off duty or sleeper.
if u jump straight outa bunk and drive u are in clear violation duhhhh
Interesting...how so
Buck Evans you only are required to do a pt if you sit for the full 10 hrs
Technically u only need 1 insp per 24hrs
Show your summary. Your still on 14 hours from the moment you activate your clock.
For what? Not sure which split this is once 8hr in sleeper is done u extend 14hr clock
Elogs are no different then wait hours was before just cannt cheat like before
Thats all it is..
15 minute pretrip and a 1/2 hour break in a 8 hour time period !! 45 minutes wasted !!!
No pre-trip on your graph.
Pretrip are not required
Pre-trips ARE required ,you gonna get fined by DOT !!
@@keithw.4965 Lol nope been inspected plenty as long as one insp is done within 24hrs

Cool 👍👍
Junior Honduras
