I like the colors. Everyone says Rolex is very conservative in their designs and colors and here they have spiced up their OP line which I am sure are selling like hot cakes. I agree that Rolex knows what they are doing - that’s obvious.
It’s an entry level watch to get younger people into the hobby since you cannot get a sub or gmt anymore at the AD. DJ 41 is over 10k for a fluted bezel so this is a good step.
Ordered a turquoise 41mm... can’t wait... sold my ceramic no date sub last year... it didn’t really gel with me tbh.... hopefully new OP will be mine by early Spring 2021. 👍🇬🇧
Awesome video brother! I personally love the OP41 with the crazy stella dial colours.. Rolex is not a "watch that tells the time" to me. Rolex is a networking tool, a conversation starter, a status symbol.. I would get an OP41 in a stella dial since it pops and is loud: that is exactly what it is supposed to do in a business environment! Attracting attention! If I want to tell the time I get a g-shock. If I want help with opening doors to opportunities, I get a Rolex. That is my view. 👍
As a Rolex owner, I believe this situation is getting out control. Some people are buying these watches like they are stock. That is very sad. So many watch enthusiasts want a Rolex...have the money, but they can't get it.
I agree. I own 5 Rolex's including a 41mm Day Date 2. I've paid my dues and still am waing for my Skydweller in Blue. Maybe I will live long enough. LOL.Though I am very happy with my F.P Journe Octa 42mm perpetual Calendar in Rose gold.
@Lookie Here I can't do that based on my experience. I have got 4 Rolex from my AD. Soon to be 5. All were the watches that I wanted. I had to wait for some...no more than 6 weeks...no big deal. When they were very difficult to get, they told me so. Never paid over retail or buy something I didn't want to.
Lewis. I plan a purchase. My watch collection has grown over the years. After long analysis and savings, I finally make a option to purchase. At that time I don't want any obstacle to the purchase, especially a rude A.D. I will wait for a time but I will not tolerate Oh there is a 3 yr. waiting list or you have to buy other things to be considered. I am to old for that. Clemson killed us!!
@@LewisMa Yes, Especially A.D's that carry multiple lines such as Govbergs.( F.P Journe, Rolex, P.P.,and used to carry V.C.) And of course they own Watchbox if I want a off the beaten path watch. By the way I just put a deposit on a V.C Overseas 4500 in Blue. The same watch I recommended to you. It will take a couple of months. I will be coming to Miami to pick it up at the design district. Still waiting on the Rolex Skydweller. LOL
The new OP in 41 is excellent. I have the green version and like it a lot. The Rolex quality and attention to detail is there. I don’t consider it “entry level” as some describe it despite its price point. I have most of the other models and like this a lot as well. Actually I have more colors on order.
I agree with you. The accuracy, quality of the finishing, all very much in line with what a Rolex should be. I'm really enjoying mine! Congrats on an array of colors!!
Rolex doesn’t do anything too controversial so even something minor like offering a non traditional color-way generates allot of buzz in the watch community. Small incremental steps, avoiding controversy and not jumping onto every trend or fad bandwagon unless it’s strategically the right move at the right time. You can’t argue with Rolex’s strategy and success. Over the long run that’s good for we consumers. Rolex are just a good bet for obvious reasons. Your two pickups are both solid choices and time will prove that out. Thanks for the mention and positive comments. I try and approach my watch content from an enthusiast viewpoint. Hopefully people take away a small tidbit of info they can use, or at least be entertained for a few moments. While not an expert per say I’ve been at this for a good many years and learned a few things about Rolex and the hobby along the way. I had the privilege of knowing some truly knowledgeable people in the industry that have helped me learn and grow. I guess I’ll get off my butt and get working on that Explorer history video and how Rolex capitalized on the Mt Everest event turning a common Oyster Perpetual into their first Tool watch. That turn of events launched an entire line of tool watch which in turn influenced the entire industry. Those early tool watches evolved into the Sports watches we all enjoy today. The butterfly effect.
You know Rolex knows what it’s doing when it takes one of its dogs (OP) and makes it in demand to the point they’re almost double retail. I hate them because I can’t have one, but once I get one, I’ll be the biggest fanboy
Rolex is very desirable right now go back to 2000 and they where scratching like everyone else. Great watches but for the price of one Sub you can have a GS, Tudor, and an Omega those are just examples. That is if you can get the sub.
IMO Rolex has messed it up big time. 2019 and 2020 were years when brands like Grand Seiko are coming up with great watches with great dials with great movements. And trust me GS is beating the shit out of lot of Swiss watch brands. They have not yet touched Rolex for some reasons of prestige, brand value, resale value etc. But if Rolex continue down this path they have no future as a luxury brand. The only saving grace for them perhaps is these watches do not cost as much as APs or Pateks.
I agree with you to a point. Yes, GS is killing brands like rolex in overall finishing and dial design (spring drive is debatable). They are still very much lacking in bracelet design compared to rolex though. Buying a GS with no micro adjustments is simply a crime at their price point. That being said Rolex isn’t going anywhere in our lifetime. They still dominate the industry with their marketing strategy and change which happens at a glacial pace. Although I don’t think their watches are worth the price they clearly know what they’re doing and sales prove it.
I personally don't think GS will be anywhere close to Rolex as a brand and made comparison let alone overtaking Rolex in term of prestige and built quality. For one GS need to disassociate themselves from name like Seiko and rebrand themselve much like what Toyota did with Lexus.
Rolex is the king of marketing. Does that mean they make the best watches? Debatable. Does that mean they will have market share, absolutely. But yeah, if I get another watch I will seriously be considering a grand seiko.
I will unapologetically admit that that's why I bought Rolex as my first watch. Not because of the heritage, not because of the quality, but because of the brand recognition
Colors have nothing to due with the Rolex issue. It's their marketing games that have made a good brand not worth it financially. Yes, they are nice but totally not worth the up charge in the aftermarket. There are so many better built watches for the price anyways.
I appreciate the historical knowledge in this video. Very cool!
I have the same problem . When I wear a watch without date I have a conditioned reflex looking after date all the time. It is annoying
were all creatures of habit aren't we

They are marketing and branding geniuses!
Cool topic. Just subbed 🤘🏻

Agreed. It's a great price point
i got the green dial last week and its really nice but it looks like a 39mm and guys i have a lot of rolex from 40 to 44mm
Visually hard to tell the size difference?
Cograts and enjoy your new watch, it's beautiful and original an it doesn't matter what other people say as on as you like it! Cheers
Well said brother, thank you 👍

I felt the exact same way about my sub. Did u see my unboxing video?

But guys, would we want them as much if they were readily available in the AD's? Perhaps not being able to get them easily as part of the fun 🤷🏻♂️

Glad I didn't watch the game 🤣 I agree with both points. Yeah anything over 1.5 to 2 years is BS. Do u go to multiple ADs?

They shoulda done it with Datejust or daydate for sure. Not the cheapest line lol
Some ppl argue it was a business play. To get the OPs to sell!

Lol let me share my feelings about the Sub again 🤣
I Just saw this watch in yellow, 41mm for $10,500 . Your better off buying the Date Just from the A.D!
i believe there's a big disconnect currently between listing price and selling price. i think grey market is roughly $7.5k. but still. Go Tech.
Lewis, I want everyone to buy the OPs and Submariners. You know I have ordered the Skydweller in Blue.
We play Clemson this week. Go Jackets LOL

Same with luxury cars like bmw and their plastic engines. Doesn’t matter the quality anymore, all about marketing
I believe the same could be set for any industry. All marketing. With a few exceptions, of course
