Mirage's Parkour Can Look Good

    Nice Work
    AC mirage has the best parkour for me. It is really the way I always wanted parkour to feel. It is the best mix between show off and usefull. I didn t wanted him to do crazy flips and tricks like arno in unity. Unity is amazing as it is, arno is just very at ease with his environment. But Basim weight is really my thing because it actually looks like he is really trying his best to parkour through the roofs. It is not easy at all for him, as irl Parkour! When you see irl videos these guys are even slower than him. It is a crazy thing to do, and when basim runs away from conflict, I can really feel his urge and motivation through his movements, his heavy Breath and all. +the lighting, music, percussions, and absolute peak level design, it is the best for me. Btw, I didn t feel that way until 25hours in, when I started to understand how to run without any interuptions.

      To me the best parkour would be from AC1 to Rogue. The first 5 games had more skill based parkour, and while many things got simplified when AC3 came out, it managed to strike that nice balance between animations and player control. Some things were a lot harder to pull off, for instance you couldn't side eject at the apex of wall run, but all in all I liked that parkour system. Then Unity came out and ruined everything for me. It has cool animations and that's about it. Syndicate chose to cut on animations, but at the same time they made the existing ones more fluid, namely vaulting animations. Origins parkour was limited, but with enough player input it still was possible to do some cool stuff. Same applies to Odyssey and Valhalla. And as for Mirage...well, I really like its movement system. It's basically what I wanted Origins parkour to be. I kinda miss manual jump though, but oh well, can't have everything, can we? I'm dying to see what's going to be next.

      Yeah unity added too may cool flips and vaulting animations that completely destroyed the original purpose of AC parkour. Its almost like Arno isn't an assasin trained to get from point A to point B in the fastest and most efficent way possible but just a freerunner doing cool stuff because why not. I mean i still love the animations for the parkour and AC unity was an overall fire game but i think the parkour from unity wasn't very accurate lore wise. Mirage re polished the sistem tho and i hope shadows will be like that.

      Ah, got it. Press C and S or D (if on PC) to do low side eject. Just keep in mind it's very inconsistent and you need to get the distance right.

    I'd really wish to try this AC Mirage game, but something holding me back.. I guess the combat, it's an instant buy for me if the combat was a bit better.

      Combat isn't the game's main focus, that's why. By concept these are stealth games, combat goes second (at least on paper).

      @@SirJacobFrye68 by making stealth focus don't need to make the combat feels terrible, don't need to sacrifice one to make the other one better, why don't make both better. Look at previous AC games aside from Odyssey and Valhalla, even Arkham games and Shadow of mordor/war have stealth and combat that both feels better. This AC Mirage doesn't seems right, they're become lazy in some department, even AC Origins was more immersive and better overall, stealth, combat, story and environment realism reaction, bigger map and much nicer location, and even better mythology. AC Origins Egyptian mythology feels more interesting and much cooler than the Arabic or Iraqi mythology in AC Mirage, imo.

      @@lukethelegend9705 oh yeah a hitman game that the main protagonist mainly use guns, that we're aware from the starts how the game would play offers, then compare it to a much different genre of a game like this, nice try but I'm not new to Assassin's Creed either. Sacrificing some elements to push you to play only one criteria (stealth) would not always work, it makes the game repetitive and one linear of gameplay, unlike previous AC which you can do whatever you want either confront enemies or stealth, makes the combat good but stealth feels better. Not like, makes the combat horrible but makes the stealth only the good thing about the whole game, so that the player would force to do stealth instead, all the way to the end game. It's not an excuse, that's why the game was low rated even for the AC fans don't like it.

      The way I remedy it is just by tapping the second crouch button after the slide instead of holding it so basim stays in his cathang position instead of freefalling

    The parkour animations in the game are not good, there are way too many jumps that defy the laws of momentum, too many quick jumps that don’t look anywhere near the realm of natural or realistic. The people who made this game shouldn’t be let near another ac game ever again. I mean who gives you an ability that can teleport you from the roof of a building to ground and then back to the roof of a building? These devs are lazy and they’re probably high on drugs

      It was Ubisoft Bordeaux's first game, cut them some slack. I don't care for amount of animations, as long as parkour itself is somewhat decent and serves its purpose, which is exactly the case. AC1 also wasn't perfect, Altaïr would suddenly lose all of his forward momentum and start falling down as if someone turned up gravitational pull by a hundred. As for animations, they were forced to work with reworked version of Unity engine (keep in mind all post-Unity entries were made on the same engine, with some alterations here and there), so that one also needs to be forgiven. As for Assassin Focus, Basim has memories of Loki and he may have higher amount of Isu genes than most humans, which can also translate to enhanced speed and reflexes. Also keep in mind that Arno also likes to go against law of physics with his gravity defying jumps and shit. People behind Mirage surely tried their best to deliver something good, and I'd say in some ways they actually surpassed my expectations. All in all calling them lazy is very unfair towards the people behind this game, and shows non existent lack of understanding for what they were going for.

Virtually no next gen innovations to the parkour, despite we now have ps5’s and 4 gen xbox, everything you can do in this game you can replicate on the frickin xbox 360. Cut them some slack, no, I will not sir, Jesus Christ man you are paying $70 for these freakin games now, are you insane??? You got lucky this time because Ubisoft charged $50 I believe for this one, but you won’t be so lucky next round. You’re basically taking a huge dump on devs like sucker punch, or naughty dog. Should we cut those guys some slack? I know if those guys cut corners everyone would be on their ass, but for some reason we should let poor Ubisoft get the benefit of the doubt. I don’t care if it’s a new studio, there’s been plenty of new studios that NEVER used that excuse, that made bangers.. Honestly all I want is just better assassins creed games THAT’S IT and I see stuff like this and it makes me not want to spend my money. You can support this piece of crap but I’m gonna hold off and see what happens next

      Nothing tops pre-Unity entries though, especially AC1 to Revelations.

      @@am_sousa2246 I mean parkour from AC3 to Rogue was pretty good too, at least in my opinion. It strikes that balance between player input and animations, which I really like.
