My grandmother lived in Brooklyn in my child hood years. We would go visit her or take her back to our home in New Jersey every other weekend. Then we all left and moved to Florida. Now I live in Atlanta, GA. Yup! That's right! I am a HALF BACK! LOL

Never liked traveling through NYC being a farm kid from South Jersey, but I used to take 278 to 495 to visit my girlfriend at Stony Brook college on Long Island. Always got a kick out of that Bruno Truck Sales sign at 15:28....made me feel a little more "at home" on that trip where all the drivers hate people with NJ tags on their car.

Oh, man. I know you're from "joisey" like me so thanks for taking me down memory lane again. One of my first "truckin" jobs was as a feeder driver for UPS out of the Manhattan South terminal. First 4 hours of my 8 hour shift was taking a trailer to one of the many terminals throughout NYC. Last 4 hours was being a yard jockey. Can't begin to tell you the craziness you see in the wee hours of the morning in NY. That new Kosscusi...kuskov...er, that polish general bridge was cool to see. Built after I left so I never saw or drove over it. Thanks again! Love the channel!

nope, i was surprised on the amount of traffic BQE usually very packed, he was probably driving around morning to afternoon, around 9-12pm, which by that time most of the traffic is gone, cuz usually its a bumper to bumper road, especially when they do work on the roads which is like almost everyday

Maybe I'm old school but I always flash my headlights for our truck driver's and if there is a truck at an intersection or see one coming I never pull all the way forward. Always give the semi trucks the right a way. Remember folks they are just trying to do their job.

Awesome video yet again. It is still weird to me seeing vehicles on the left coming towards me lol. Its normal in good ol NZ to drive left lane 😂😂 the camera angle front looking rear is fantastic. My fave is the camera at the tail end of the trailer looking forward. Good shots there too. I was amazed driving into NY wow mate she might be a bit bigger then where i live. Keep trucking mate👍👍

Interesting fact; The Bayonne Bridge and the Verrazano Narrows Bridge were both designed by the same architect, Othmar Amann. He also designed the George Washington Bridge and the Throgs Neck Bridge. He also took part in the design of the Hellgate railway bridge.

Riding along with this video was like Old Home Days for me. 45 years ago I used to run dairy products out of western NYS, from the little town of Friendship, down to Maspeth, Queens 2 to 3 nights a week.I can't the number of Times I drove on the B-Q-E out of Maspeth to NJ to get a return load to the Buffalo / Rochester / Syracuse areas. On rare occasions I hauled bakery flour out of Buffalo down into Manhattan and stopped at too many little bakeries to deliver their weeks supply of bakery / pastry flours. To say maneuvering my semi in & out of those little side streets in Manhattan in the morning hours was challenging would be an understatement. Thanks for the ride along!

By the way, these JLTV´s have a kind of hydropneumatic suspensions, like these old French cars like the DS, CX,GS,GSA,BX,XM and Xantia´s had.
It´s giving them an edge in uneven terrain, a comfy ride, permanent leveling despite uneven load and it´s a fairly simple system at the same time.
You can´t tie them down from normal driving position, because you would load an enormous hydraulic force into the system , which could lead to a gasket failure and an oily mess.

Good to see Truck World in Hubbard, OH is doing well. After unloading 48,000 lbs of finished granite grave stones, it was a pleasure to shower in the huge showers at Truck World and then have a big order of chicken wings with a cold pitcher of Coors in the pub.

I feel your pain. I was driving into Manhattan when it happened. Drilled into my brain forever. Lost a couple of friends there. Still brings a tear to my eye.

Things have changed a little since I was there back in 86 I hauled coal from feds creek Ky to the power plant I only made 1 trip we went from there to Philadelphia and picked up burnt ash and God nos what else was in but man it stunk and took that to landfill outside Columbus Ohio then back for another load but I went to hauling gravel from Va to strip job in Wv then coal back to Va to be loaded on train to Ny as they say back in the good old days stay safe , stay healthy , stay loaded was driving a W900 pulling a dump wagon

Had a buddy who was a coal bucket driver in PA. He used to drive an old A-Car. I used to tell him you guys were in a different world. Either peddle to the metal or on the binders. HaHa. I swear he had to replace brakes on an axle each month (no Jake Brakes). Ah, the "good 'ole days".
