  • We drive Orwell into an Airport. To deliver the Oshkosh Striker Fire Truck in Connecticut we are escorted into the airport. Once inside I unload the Oshkosh, back it into a very tight garage and show the maintenance dept. how to operate it should they need to move it before they are officially trained.

In regards to putting the truck in the garage, the truck was more at risk of damage being hit in a truck stop parking lot than me carefully backing it in with many people watching. I do this as a better customer service for our company as well as the airport personnel. It is a choice I make and is why I do as many of these as I do. Its always best to make the customer happy. The difference is in the details.
Instead of commenting why I did what was beyond my duties, question how you can improve your service.

Screw the Customer. I'd do it just because I get to drive a fire truck without being a fireman and not get arrested like anybody else would..perks of the job like this are the best😉
🤣I would have noticed the screen for the backup camera was on while I was backing up though and that if the guy knew that the beeping meant the tanks were empty he could probably figure out most of the rest on his own while 😴.
Own up and take your walk of shame then edit this for a Bloopers Clip and use the part where the bald guy almost bursts out laughing after you tell him you don't know how to turn on the backup camera, that's the best one by far😁

Spent 23 years in the Army & learned to back in everywhere. It’s so everyone can scoot fast if the need arises. My late Mother was amazed I could back up so well I back my Santa Fe in w/out much problem as I have markers set out to know how far I can go over & when to stop. I tend to back up better than I pull in.

    • @ronfullerton3162

Also, about 20 years ago (when we were just starting out and running 22 hours a day LOL) a cop accused me of soliciting a hooker over the radio in that rest area. I didn't do it but he stopped at my truck and said I was hiding her in the bunk. He threatened to arrest me if I didn't allow him to check the bunk out and I told him he had better have a warrant before he tried. He continued to bother me for about 10 minutes then said he would just sit outside the truck all night and I could sleep with her. I shut the truck down and went to sleep. Not sure when he left. I had heard some driver talking to her on the radio as I was pulling in but it wasn't me.

It was very nice of you to put that fire truck in the garage, but what I am wondering is do they have a driver for it ? And if they do, you would think they would let him know or her that the delivery of the truck was coming that day. Keep on tracking.
