Dubbing/ADR isn't really that good. It's possible they did put someone else's voice over his, I think it's actually him performing the lines. He speaks slowly and deliberately, so I have a feeling he's learned English to a degree and is simply memorizing the lines in the most natural way he can. It's no doubt a heck of a challenge for him, but he does it quite well.
@@Lucifronz Yes, upon watching his performance again, I believe it's actually him speaking. As a back up, they might tweak his lines (pronunciation and delivery) in post. Just my educated guess.
He mentioned in an interview on a Korean show that he learned enough English to accomplish the job, including the nuance that intonation brings in the language. For context, the U.S. military considers Korean one of the most difficult languages for an American to learn due to its complexity of varying relational terms and its grammatical structure. Because of our grammatical structure, however, how someone delivers a word or sentence can change the meaning of it. That's not really as much of a thing in Korean. So what he accomplished in working with language coaches to nail not only pronunciation but also proper emphasis in delivery while acting, is really praiseworthy.
