I love this movie and am so glad to have it in its entirety. My mom taught herself to play Chopin, and it brings back memories.

I did see this film for the first time when I was about ten years old and since then I have loved all Chopin's music. I also did read everything about him, about George Sans, her books, about Lizt and Alfred de Musset... The music will always be very precious to me. Thank you for showing this film!

Emotionally moving film. What a beautiful gift he was- his music, and his sacrifice to give freedom to his fellow countrymen fighting for theirs.

I was born in Poland and Fryderyk Chopin's music sounded in my ears from first day of my birth.

I taught my 15 year old grandson to play the Fantasy Impromptu by Chopin. It is wonderful to see this old movie show the life of Chopin and the politics of his day. He was a wonderful composer.

Nice movie but full of inventing things.... for exemplar Chopin family left the countryside and Żelazowa Wola when he was less than one year old... He lived and was growing up in town, in Warsaw, in the houses on the Warsaw’s main street... he was visiting the countryside often, especially during the summer, but never lived in the countryside...

And it is good to see that Chopin was Politically aware in his environment.

I saw this movie at the university where my father was doing his masters degree. I was just about 11 years old. It was the first time I’d ever heard Chopin. I fell in love with that music and maybe just a little bit with Paul Muni.😅❤

I loved playing Chopin’s music when I was younger but my arthritis prevents it now. Love the movie!

George Sand wrote 70 novels, theater plays and worked as a journalist. She was the first female writer able to live from her book sales and was friends with Dumas and Hugo amongst others. She financially supported many writers, musicians and sculptors and managed to keep her fortune after divorcing her husband which was unheard-of in those days. She was most definitely edgy and lived the life a male writer would have lived in those days.

A very beautiful film. I have always loved Chopin's music, but did not know that he was Polish. Actor Colin Wilde is a very handsome man n the lady pretty but a hard woman. Watching from the UK in January 2025.

What I wonder, is how true to life that portrayal of Georges Sand really was? Or did the person who wrote the script decide to demonize her?

@@molliestanton2869 I read Chopin's biography 40 years ago. It was written by a friend of his (can't remember his name) a few years after his death. The book is long out of print and I had to get it from the vault at our main library as it was the only copy they had. Returning it had to be strictly on time and no extensions could be granted. Sand had two children - Solange her daughter and Maurice her son who never liked Chopin. It was Sand's children who ultimately came between Sand and Chopin. Sand was married to Casimer Dudevant until they divorced. Sand was way ahead of her time and would have been more suited to living at the present day. Some of the film is correct and the fact Chopin's music was played all the way through was marvellous. He has always been my favourite composer. Was she as bad as the film portrayed her? Yes. In fact, she was worse being rather loose with her favours but at the same time manipulative and controlling. If you get the chance to read Chopin's biography, preferably one written at or close to the time that would give a clearer picture. Nevertheless, great film and great music. Chopin's music will live on.

She also had problem with her stomach or something taking a natural thing that was very bad to her digestive sisyem, ¿ laudamo ? 😢..I red their life 50 years ago... Red something serious about them and his music like her books, not this film
