When I was a kid in the 90's, my congregation had about 50-60 people at every Sunday meeting. I popped in a few weeks ago during a public talk, just into the hallway, to check the numbers and I was possibly going to video some of it discreetly. And I was shocked to see only about 30 people, and that is after merging one congregation with another just 2 years ago. So there has clearly been a massive decline in numbers. Yet this is not reflected in their statistical reporting. It's remained at 8 million for about 10 years now, which makes me think they just count anyone that was once a witness as part of the statistic, to falsify the figure.

DWTT exjw they usually cater to immigrant groups who are more religious. When I was a JW the English congregation was pretty much dead and most member were way older people, but then compare it to the Spanish congregation that were way more filled with children and looked younger, so I can see how they do have eight million members. With that said the second and third generation of those in the Spanish congregation are dropping out of JW by the masses , I hope we will see the end of this cult by the time I die.

@forever I've been out for over 20 years and am enjoying the smoking ban in my area. Most 'wordly' people are good and kind. I've only met a few people who used drugs, they're easy to avoid. Most people are just caring for their families the best they can, making the most of their talents and enjoying this beautiful planet. Really?!? This is very interesting. I live in the San Fernando Valley, a suburb of Los Angeles. The Kingdom Hall that I grew up in had one English, one Korean, and two Spanish congregations. The Korean congregation recently moved to a Kingdom Hall in the East San Fernando Valley, where the Spanish speaking population dominates. Two things... 1. I always thought there were a lot of Spanish speaking JWs, enough to fill up the Halls on that side of the Valley. 2. I suppose the days of having four congregations to a Hall are over or are about to be over.
That is what I hear from a friend that used to live in the LA area. The Spanish congregation he attended and the other Spanish congregation sharing the KH had low attendance... As for the city where I live, half of the population is Hispanic. Even here we have run into a problem with growth. There were about 14 Spanish congregations in this city. And three of them were dissolved this year. And as far as I am aware I haven't seen a Spanish congregation formed in the last 5 years in this city.

If there is any growth it will be in poorer countries where the people don't have Internet access so they can't find out the TRUTH about the watchtower. Now they are as young as 6 or 8. The governing body in their Broadcast and in talks do a lot to either shame, or scare them into baptism. If Jesus was perfect, then he didn't have to worry about all the sins that easily entangle us, and he STILL didn't get baptized until 30. WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU WATCHTOWER?!

There were occasional baptisms of the very young but children were not typically pressured in my congregation. They seem to have conveniently forgotten that jesus was 30 years old.
When I left in 2003 I was worried about so many good people who are caught up and afraid to leave because they don't want to shunned by all the people in the world they know and love well the watchtower did not anticipate the internet coming out and shinning a microscopic light on them and all their evil and gave people the courage to leave as a family and look forward to many more leave.

In an episode of "Ancient Aliens" on the History Channel, a weird "expert" speculated that the vision at Ezekiel chapter one described an extraterrestrial encounter. Just this Sunday me and my husband drive past a church and you won't believe how many cars there were, people had to park outside in the street. Didn't they say the waters of Babylon would dry, something like that? Make you wonder who Babylon the great really is.

DWTT exjw they usually cater to immigrant groups who are more religious. When I was a JW the English congregation was pretty much dead and most member were way older people, but then compare it to the Spanish congregation that were way more filled with children and looked younger, so I can see how they do have eight million members. With that said the second and third generation of those in the Spanish congregation are dropping out of JW by the masses , I hope we will see the end of this cult by the time I die.

@forever I've been out for over 20 years and am enjoying the smoking ban in my area. Most 'wordly' people are good and kind. I've only met a few people who used drugs, they're easy to avoid. Most people are just caring for their families the best they can, making the most of their talents and enjoying this beautiful planet. I was so much happier when I got away from that controlling religious group.

Really?!? This is very interesting. I live in the San Fernando Valley, a suburb of Los Angeles. The Kingdom Hall that I grew up in had one English, one Korean, and two Spanish congregations. The Korean congregation recently moved to a Kingdom Hall in the East San Fernando Valley, where the Spanish speaking population dominates. Two things... 1. I always thought there were a lot of Spanish speaking JWs, enough to fill up the Halls on that side of the Valley. 2. I suppose the days of having four congregations to a Hall are over or are about to be over.
That is what I hear from a friend that used to live in the LA area. The Spanish congregation he attended and the other Spanish congregation sharing the KH had low attendance... As for the city where I live, half of the population is Hispanic. Even here we have run into a problem with growth. There were about 14 Spanish congregations in this city. And three of them were dissolved this year. And as far as I am aware I haven't seen a Spanish congregation formed in the last 5 years in this city.

@forever They've stopped producing the year book that contained all the figures, I wonder why. Huge amount of kingdom halls being sold off, congregations being merged. If there is any growth it will be in poorer countries where the people don't have Internet access so they can't find out the TRUTH about the watchtower. Also, there are plenty of PIMO's on ex jw reddit who tell us what is going on in the congregations they're in. A lot are saying that it's mostly the older ones that are staying, most young people get out as soon as they find out they've been lied to their whole lives.
+forever +Dawn Ross, PIMO (for forever) means "Physically in Mentally Out" meaning people are staying even though they know it's not the truth anymore, some because of power, but most because they have family still in. Also: more and more kids are getting baptized AND at a younger and younger age. They don't mention how many millions have left, and I don't just mean those who were df'd. And trust me, many who were df'd are because they are studying the Bible and learning the real truths about the Bible and it bothers their conscience to stay --- NOT because of immorality. Then there's the "faders" who just leave -- millions of them. Not sure if they count them in the #'s or not. If they count by those who are publishers, many of those are just kids--5 years old even, not even baptized. Many older ones stay because it's all they've ever known, and they would lose their whole way of life, and the only friends they've ever known.

+Dawn Ross so true. My 17 year old brother was denied getting baptized at first, and then I was surprised when they let us got baptized at the same time (He was 18 and I was 15). Now they are as young as 6 or 8. The governing body in their Broadcast and in talks do a lot to either shame, or scare them into baptism. If Jesus was perfect, then he didn't have to worry about all the sins that easily entangle us, and he STILL didn't get baptized until 30. WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU WATCHTOWER?!

There were occasional baptisms of the very young but children were not typically pressured in my congregation. They seem to have conveniently forgotten that jesus was 30 years old.
When I left in 2003 I was worried about so many good people who are caught up and afraid to leave because they don't want to shunned by all the people in the world they know and love well the watchtower did not anticipate the internet coming out and shinning a microscopic light on them and all their evil and gave people the courage to leave as a family and look forward to many more leave.

We all know that many current active JW's would leave if:
1. They had a place to live once their family kicks them out.
2. The had someone to talk to who has been thru the shunning process.
3. The had a place to go to where EX JW's can counsel them, in fact, there should be an EX JW Hot line for all those who want to leave but are afraid to for one reason or another.
Imagine if every major City in the US and the World had an "EX JW Ministry"? Just like every major city has a homeless shelter.
EX JW Ministry would function somewhat like a Homeless Shelter where people can go and get food, shelter, counsel etc...
Can you imagine the impact this would make? And Imagine if this were promoted on TV, Online, BillBoards where everyone can see it. How many active JW"S would leave in a heart beat if they had these resources to go too? There needs to be a grassroots gathering on this. Unfortunately I am not an EX JW, but I know some who are.

If you look up the Knox congregation in Indiana it has been dissolved and majority of the elders and people have walked away from the organization I walked away years and years ago and I do not regret it one single bit the truth has finally come to me and the witnesses do not have the truth
He must be referring to the vision at Ezekial chapter one. In an episode of "Ancient Aliens" on the History Channel, a weird "expert" speculated that the vision at Ezekiel chapter one described an extraterrestrial encounter. I never thought I would say this, but at this point, that explanation sounds far more plausible than anything Watchtower claims it to be. They truly are grasping at straws here.
I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness. I would have never thought things would have turned out like this. I fully expected the New System to be here by now, based on teaching of "Generation" back in the 90's. I made the biggest mistake of my life involving myself back into this cult ten years ago. It's a really long and screwed up story. But I'm glad I never got baptized.
The more I grow as a skeptic, an agnostic atheist, as a person, and just as a human being... the more amazed I am that I ever fell for this nonsense. Now as I look upon this cult, it's quickly becoming a shadow of its former self. Just as the governing body dirtbags who run the whole show shed no tears for those who leave this pernicious organization, whose lives were subsequently crushed and devastated, I shall shed no tears when this organization crumbles into financial insolvency and ruination.
