I had the same problem with mine when I changed the bulb. I left the locking screw a little loose, then twisted the light until it was level. It hasnt moved a bit since I did it months ago. I love my lights, but I might have to get you to build me a set with the newer housings. They look good man 👍
Looks good. FYI, Diode Dynamics makes a Switchback bulb for the parking lights of these trucks. It is bright white till the turn signal is activated, then it goes amber. Also, the previous owner might have just followed the directions and used the template provided for those headlights. When I did my 03, I noticed it took a LOT of material out too. This spring I'm going to track down an 05 header panel and change it out.
I can appreciate how hard this is. Your still my favorite 7.3 guy on all of the internet since day 1 🤘🏽. I think you should try out the demon eye concept.
Another great video... I think they look awesome and would gladly buy a pair... I would not black it out.. but hey it's your truck! Thank you for sharing with us!!!
I was thinking the whole time while watching if I was to build a set, I would black out that top reflector around the light personally like that look with a black grill
Those are looking really good. Now call me crazy (because plenty of other people have and, frankly, I don't care) but I'm actually going the opposite direction on mine. I'm getting rid of the composite headlights and going with 05+ sealed beams. That being said, I found some great LED sealed beams that will definitely be an improvement. I just really like the look of the 05+ sealed beams.
Very cool. So, if the units were rotated slightly clockwise (facing the truck) would the cut off be lower to oncoming traffic but the hi beam would remain full?
That is correct. Ideally you want the cutoffs to be perfectly horizontal. Then you can use the adjustment on the headlight itself to raise or lower the beam to where us needs to be. Ideally a 2” drop over 20’ distance. I go for that which usually puts my cuttings right at the bottom of most vehicles windows. Varies depending on how tall your vehicle is.
Okay I need This this is the cherry on top I always turn off my lights so I don’t blind people and this would be awesome what are the specs of the projector you have ?
Joe, I understand about wanting them perfect, I'm the same way brother👍 I've changed out my headlamps only once on my 2000 f350 7.3 and it still didn't help visibility. I may do what you did and find a used 05 - 07 header and buy the kit you put together. I'm almost 56yo and I need all the help I can get driving at night😂 Great video my friend! Whatcha gonna do with those headlights now...?😁
You would be blown away with these compared to your stock ones. This set will probably go to a friend. I don't feel comfortable selling these ones as they are, but I might be up to building some more sets to sell.
I'm not sure I understand... to clarify the mess up was that the focal points of the beams are pointing outward. So basically you put the drivers side lens on passenger side and vice versa? Are they not labeled in any way in the kit? Or is the only way to tell is to turn them on to test and if so what does someone need to look for when doing so to get them in the correct side?
No. The projectors are the exact same on each side. The mistake I made was when I mounted them in, they were physically pointing outwards just a little bit.. Not perfectly strait forward. Thankfully, you all get to learn from my mistakes haha.
Definitely a great upgrade, more light means it'll be safer to drive and that's what really matters

So much better!!

I guess I’m a little old school because I actually like amber lights on trucks more than white switchbacks.

Definitely looks better. I dont have the time or patience to do this

Definitly looks crisp and bright
Big improvement that’s for sure!
I don't know if you've decided whether or not you'll make sets for people but I'm interested.
That would look cool.
Don't black out the reflector. My vote.

Are those LED or XENON?
These ones are hid xenon lights.

Great videos btw. I've done a lot of mods to my 7.3 excursion using your vids and I hope the next one is retrofitting lights. Mine are stock lol.

@@LivingOnWheels ah ok makes sense. Definitely going to do some more research and give this a try. Thanks for clearing that up.
If you're looking to get rid of your old headlights I'll buy off you. I'm down in CO but can pay for shippin
Not sure what I’m going to do with them yet but I’ll let you know if that’s an option. I might be up to making some more sets if there is interest.
@@LivingOnWheels if you do make more sets I'll be interested either way lol. Great job on the custom builds they look great
