When I was homeless in a northeastern city during the winter I did 30,000+ steps a day just to keep warm. The most I ever did was 54,000. Best shape I was ever in.
I started walking about 2 weeks ago at 321 lbs. I initially could only walk 10 minutes at a brisk pace before experiencing pain in my right hip. I would take brakes but make sure to get my 10k steps a day. Now I'm 305 and can do 2 hours straight (10-12k steps)with no pain at all. When I began, I would listen to audio books that entertained me, now I listen to books that expand my knowledge. It's fun.
I did 26k steps a day for about 10 days and it definitely had great results so I can confirm everything you saw in your 7 day challenge. Walking also tends to be a great low impact exercise and when you keep it low impact it will burn fat for energy rather than glucose. Also keeping it low impact will keep your cortisol levels down to improve that fat burning and reduce fat storage. Walking is the best exercise.

I’m happy to see other people do this! I’ve been a distance runner for 7 years now. By walking to the gym, running 10 miles, walking at work, and walking home I average about 30,000 steps every day. I usually hit 110-115 miles a week. It’s the lifestyle that I love!

I got a new job last fall and generally walk at least 20,000 steps a day 5 days a week. Over 7 months I lost over 35 pounds. I could lose another 30. We'll see what the rest of the year brings
I lost 70pounds in 6months walking 14miles a day..nothing too much strict diet. And did 50 continous days of half marathon daily walk during this lockdown

Bugga, not more youtubes to watch. But seriously, watched this one and loved it. I too love walking. but only about 50 kms per week. Lots of benefits. Thanks for the video.
My doctor told me to walk 5Km/45minuts every day. Since then: I lost a lot of weight! Better digest! Better sleep! More active! More focus! More energy! Less hungry! Better bowling! Before I was totally opposite of above as mentioned in details!
I have to say your video footage editing for these challenges are beautifully well done. Thank you for not wasting our time with jibber jabber and irrelevant content. You gave a gift my friend.
Imagine being a roman soldier, they where trained to walk 20 miles a day in full kit for weeks on end (50+ lb's) those guys must've had athlete level fitness. Excellent video.
I do approximately 45.3k steps per day for 5 days of the week at work since it requires me to walk overnight. Most people I work with can't do what I do, so I always get overtime, thus putting in more steps for the week. It's definitely a rewarding feeling when I get the day off, and most people would argue that I should quit, but honestly, I enjoy it. I can see most people will have a problem with it.
I totally get it! I average about 35k step a day mainly due to my job but I’d never change that! When it’s overtime season I can clock about 56k step in a day!
Great video! I started doing 10 miles/day in quarantine for the first 45 days. Then I couldn’t move for two days! Just super tight (did no stretching). I started stretching and ended up doing 13.5 mile average days for the last 30 something days. I haven’t quite reached 100 mile weeks but I’ve gotten close at around 94 mile weeks. It’s been challenging! I was feeling incredibly tired, more so than I realized possible. I haven’t been commuting to the office so that’s 2 hours a day I found and the gyms are closed so that’s 1.5 hours a day plus staying in the house all day is not something to look forward to lol. I also walked rain or shine which is more of a mental game then I realized. It’s been fun and challenging and needless to say I’m doing yoga now in order to keep the mileage up! Stay safe brother!
@@SimpleManChannel You're absolutely right. I'm studying Spanish and made a point to only take my audio and video courses while walking. It's actually helped a ton. One of the few advantages of being a single guy. hahaha... *sob* lol
@@SimpleManChannel Just coming back to update. week 1 - 116 miles week 2 - 106 miles week 3 - 98.95 miles week 4 - 96 miles I didn't really intend for this to be a walking challenge so I didn't really have a starting weight. The last time I weighed myself was at the doctors right before lock down. I was 206 lbs and now I'm down to 193 lbs. Although, if I had to guess, I had put on at least 5 pounds during lock down. So lost somewhere in between 13-18 pounds which is a huge range I know. In between sizes right now but my old clothes have me looking like an early 2000s rapper.
I love walking. I started over a year ago for weight loss, but now it's like an addiction and I literally plan my days AROUND my walks. I think it's the best cardio you can do, honestly. 7 - 12 miles daily for me!
Walking isn’t boring..You just need to change the mindset and find different paths to walk on If you walk the same exact route all the time, then yes it could get boring.
I remember doing a challenge of walking 10 miles a day for 30 days back in the early 2ks, the author of the book claimed you could lose 8 pounds of fat in that time span without dieting. I did the whole 30 days, one day i would walk twelve miles other days eight, i just had to put in the miles by the end of the week. I lost exactly eight pounds and dropped an entire size from my waist area which was very noticeable for just losing 8 pounds, in the process sadly i developed plantar fasciitis despite changing foot inserts, sneakers ,etc.
I lost 3 dress sizes in 6 weeks eating 1500 calories a day and walking 20k steps in the form of 3 x 1 hour walks. Going from US size 10 to size 4. Easiest thing ever.

I did about 100+ miles a week for several months during the lockdowns. Lost 20+ KGs without changing my eating habbits. These days, I do about 75 miles a week when all goes well. Even with it rains or storms I go out.
I know in Japan people are more concerned about there health. In Belgium we're happy when we get are 10000 steps done. Even that is for most people to much to do every but I try and it helps making me feel better!
I am the same age as you and have always enjoyed walking. But Never thought it could make you taller by an inch! I am taking up this challenge! Great video!👍🏼
I walked half marathon everyday for 15-16 months. Lost 70pounds (really bad diet and general self-control). Now, i walk 25000 steps a day and just love the exercise. Yes, it is time consuming but you have to make schedule.
I challenged myself to walk less than 100 steps per day during quarantine for 9 months straight, and I fully completed this personal challenge averaging 92 steps/day. It was really quite easy with the only real set back coming in the 3rd month when I accidentally walked 126 steps one day when I had trouble parking by the front door of Church’s fried chicken.
i tired this but blew out on day one...from the couch to the beer fridge and return is 26 steps...went way over after only 4 beers and still had 20 to go....thinking of installing one of those stair lift contraptions, but for the couch/fridge route
About two months ago, I decided to change my lifestyle. I stopped eating like crap and drinking soda and I started walking at least 10k steps a day. I've lost 24 pounds in those 2 months! The weight is just falling off me and it's great. I'm about 40 lbs overweight right now so I'm hoping to keep the momentum going. Walking is so addicting! I love being outside and having my "me time". I love it and it's such an easy exercise. I spend about 2 hours outside walking everyday in the morning. It has to be first thing in the morning or it's too hot outside. I live in Texas so you can imagine the heat and humidity.....😂😂 I'm drenched in sweat from head to toe by the end of my walk. It's all uphill then downhill, rinse and repeat so it's pretty strenuous but still relatively easy.
i was a somewhat lardy (not fat but a tad chubby) 26 year old with a bad back a month and a half ago.... By going for 1 meal per day (large meal, only clean food AS A RULE). And 20 miles per day, semi- fasting while i do it, plain chocolate allowed, sugar free, not too unhealthy energy drinks allowed, water obviously allowed ... Gruelling as that may sound, it's really easy for me now, and i've only been going for a month and a half.... I pretty much have a six pack, my mental health is much better, my skin has cleared up, my hair is healthier, my memory is healthier.... I cannot say enough how much walking A LOT helps... Make sure you look after your feet and legs during though, and try to focus quite a bit on posture + abs, you will be ripped and FEELING GOOD in no time at all... Trust me 20 miles is REALLY easy, i'm gonna start doing 40 soon and see how it goes. Good luck people! DONT BE LAZY, THE HARD STUFF GETS EASY WHEN YOU DO IT A LOT!!!! IT DOESNT SEEM LIKE IT CAN BE A REALITY BUT IT REALLY CAN. If you're lucky enough to have a working body, start using it! If you get creative with eating clean too, it is not bad at all and you quickly notice the difference in brain function and energy levels, to an extremely enjoyable degree.. I always allow myself 1 bad ingredient, such as baked beans or something in my 1 meal of the day, might be chocolate bar or something for desert (a large one at that, seeing as i only have the 1 meal per day. Occasionally i have a normal day, where i just eat normally, don't walk, and i have to say, i have ALL the energy i could possibly need, and before, i'm not gonna lie, i was an absolute boring miserable slumped over mess... Thats not saying i'm all the way to where i need to be in that regard, but trust me guys, if you're looking for a relatively easy good start to getting your life in order, this is it... PS: My back feels great now! and it was FUCKED. Someone try it out and get back to me in a month! :D
This is my usual experience at Disneyland. 14 miles per day, 5 days in a row. I always lose 3-5 lbs each trip. I’m only 4’11”, so I’ll check again after my next trip to see if I’m finally 5’ tall!!! 😄
Wow!!! I’m impressed. I love walking for so many benefits (time in nature, better sleep, stress relieve, creative thinking as I walk, exposure to natural light). I typically don’t get anywhere close to 30k steps a day but you’ve motivated me to bump up my regular walking time and distance. Great video!!!
Since 2015 I have walked on average 15,000 steps per day and not changed my diet. originally it was all at sea level later at altitude. Over that period I went from 106 kgs down to 84 kgs and it’s now settled at 88kgs . I am just under 6 feet 2 and now 60 years old . The biggest weight loss was at the very beginning. I also had a long standing knee injury which I got skiing and it didn’t really stop me . Frozen veg when I stopped . My tip is get up early and do it first thing . Originally I lived in a very hot place so I started at 6.00 am everyday
I work a full time job doing housekeeping and a part-time job in food service. Walking 15 miles a day is par for the course for me. I'm 45 and my body is still going strong without any aches or pains.
Rain shouldn't have stopped you from getting your outside walk. I find rain doesn't bother me at all unless it's windy. For outside exercise, I find wind to be the only real constraint, unless it's just pouring down rain or a blizzard. Today, I did an 8 miles forest trail (and a four mile walk to get to the trail) in the rain here in New York. Sure, I got wet, but it was OK. Just took a nice hot shower when I got home.
I have a Confidence Fitness treadmill that is very small and only about $200 on line. I put it under a table that I had raised up with by adding extra wood pieces under the legs. With this setup it is super easy to get in lots of steps WHILE YOU ARE WORKING OR JUST SURFING THE NET. When I first started working from home, I walked 15-16 miles a day, by accident. One day, just for the heck of it, I walked a marathon. Yes, I was in reasonably good shape before, but the trick is to set it to a pace that is not sweat inducing and just stay on it. Keep walking!
I love to walk, but recently started doing squats and things instead to try and tone up. I have noticed that I have backache and muscle spasms in my neck. I’m going back to the walking😊
Last summer, I decided to try to walk 300 km (186.5 miles) in one week, not because I wanted to lose weight (I’m already very skinny), but because I wanted a challenge. I ended up walking 306.8 km, which turned out to give an average of about 53000 steps every day. The pain in my feet was insane. I don’t think I’ve felt that much pain in my entire life. I should emphasize that I didn’t prepare for the challenge in any way, but just jumped right into it. During the last 2 days, my knees also started to really hurt. Every single day got harder and harder, and I was only able to complete the challenge out of pure determination. Nowadays, when I here someone complain that their feet hurts, I’m always thinking ”Oh no, you don’t know what real pain in your feet is like” xD. I don’t think I’ll ever do it again, but I am nevertheless happy that I completed it :)
53000 a day?? wow thats insane! How many hours did it take you to get to them? Would you mind if I asked how much weight you managed to lose at the end of the challenge?
Hi I'm Bec (not Adam) thankyou for making this video. Nothing has motivated me to exercise until now, (I'm 47 and 150lbs) I watched this 2 weeks ago and now I have been walking everyday chasing the 'walkers high' you mentioned. ... Feeling so much better already with life so thankyou again.
Working for Royal Mail in the UK I have been doing over 100 miles a week for months now and I don't seem to suffer much apart from the occasional blister. I love how much fitter I am now.
Last October,, the 17th I strated a job at Walmart in Maintenance. After the first day, I was totally done and decided to count my steps. The shocking result is a total of 3702000 steps. I only worked 5 days per week so the average is around 20 miles per day. I watched your video because I am 59 and am afraid that I will fall over one day. Lol. I agree, it is very hard and on one day off I am not moving one inch. At least, I get paid about $3 per mile Lol. Thanks for the video. Loved it.
I really appreciate all of the detailed metrics shared and before and after comparisons. So many video creators don't do this and its frustrating because thats how you know if it was effective or not. I got a lot out of this video.
One day would be great to walk this Santiago de Compostela route, apparently the scenery is quite beautiful and people you meet along the way hospitable and friendly.
I got a walking under desk treadmill about 7 weeks ago. I have averaged about 75 miles per week for 7 weeks now. I have lost about 16 pounds (from 194 to 178). My height started at 5'11" and I assume it is still the same. I realize that a treadmill walk at perfectly level ground is not the same as a "real world" walk so I wouldn't equate the 75 miles per week as the same as 75% of your 100 mile week, but it's a good fraction nonetheless. And I've been able to do it for 7 weeks now. I am not entirely sure it is sustainable because I have started to develop a sore achilles tendon in one foot, I might not be able to do this pace indefinitely, or maybe my body will catch up. I'm hoping for the latter.
Walking has great effects on overall body.I also started in march walk from 8km to 10 km, now loosing weight also n gaining energy n muscle mass. On average doing 5k steps as fasting month is here.. But aiming to reach more that this 10k steps. Thanks to show 30k steps in a day can be possible. Motivated by ur video to walk more. Just subed
Try walking 100 miles within 24 hours, that's called a Centurion race. I completed one a few years back in little over 23 hours. I walk on average 3.000 km a year, greetz from the Netherlands.
Did 20 miles yesterday. I’m doing about 40 miles a week. My feet hurt every morning but it goes away after awhile. Been doing this since Nov. 2019. Going to really ramp things up this summer. By biggest issue is I’m friggin’ hungry all the time. I try to carbo load before big walks. I cannot tell you how much this will effect your life. You have to dedicate a lot of your life to this. I try to do my bigger walks in early morning before the family gets up.
The pain in the feet usually goes away after you sleep or get some rest. It mostly depends on your footwear though, if you have good walking shoes, you won’t get much pain in your feet.
You're getting hungry because you're carb loading.. spiking your insulin and insulin blocks body fat burning so you get mega hungry and low blood sugar. Try walking in the morning before breakfast or have something like bacon and eggs then try it. Let your body burn the fat stores for walking energy by keeping insulin low.
I'm 68 this year and took on the 100 miles in May challenge. I upped the ante and did it in 6 days. It was awesome. The 7th day without walking gave me withdrawal symptoms.
At 64 years old I walked five hundred miles in 27 days across Spain . The El Camino De Santiago. Thirty km per day for 25 days and two days of 50 km five hundred miles . Just do it !!! Live changing !!
I went to SoCal for a vacation and used walking as my primary mode of transport around the town, sightseeing. I did a little over 50 miles in 3.5 days. Considering I’m mostly sedentary at other times, I was wondering if I’ll be too tired or in pain. But surprisingly I was completely alright at end of each day. But then, I came back to my town and went back to being a couch potato, doing 500 steps a day 😔
In the Spring of 2015 , aged 69, I walked from my house in south London to the top left hand corner of Spain. I walked to Canterbury then the port of Newhaven. Boat to Dieppe in France. Then to Paris, Chartres, Tours, Poitiers, Bordeaux and eventually the Spanish border. Then over the Pyrenees and along the trail to Santiago de Compostela. 2,500 kms, 1,500 miles, 4 months.. Brilliant, not one bad day.
Way to go! Try walking a Camino in Spain. Many people, including myself, have walked 500 miles across Spain. It took me 35 days, an average of 15 miles a day.
I started walking recently. My mid back is to tight. Stretching it doesn't really work but the good news is that I might be getting taller as a result.

I work at Walmart and the first 7 days I walked 75 miles on the clock.. Last week, I walked 14.88 miles one day and 14.55 miles the next day.. I'm 50 years old and weigh roughly 180.. I lost 6 lbs in the first week just by walking alone.. Extreme sore legs just about every day.. It takes ibuprofin in the morning and plenty of rest to get my body ready for the next day..This is NOT just walking either.. This is also unloading the truck which averages 2000 to 2800 pieces per truck.. We are usually short handed and there are heavy items on every truck that has to be lifted and put on the rollers to be set on the pallets and ran out to the floor.. Just running ON the truck itself back and forth I can average 7 miles from staert to complete truck unloading.. Then it's off to the floor to put up items on the floors..

I’ve been walking 15000 a day for a week now, it’s easier than I thought. So it became routine and I love it.
Yes I started last week and I increased it to 20,000 this week, it's ideal for me, it's not easy but it won't kill me either 😄
Are you still walking
How long does it take ?
Of course its easy. It's just walking.
@@sandersson2813 true
I do approximately 45.3k steps per day for 5 days of the week at work since it requires me to walk overnight. Most people I work with can't do what I do, so I always get overtime, thus putting in more steps for the week. It's definitely a rewarding feeling when I get the day off, and most people would argue that I should quit, but honestly, I enjoy it. I can see most people will have a problem with it.
I totally get it! I average about 35k step a day mainly due to my job but I’d never change that! When it’s overtime season I can clock about 56k step in a day!
Your feet don't hurt?

I didn't really intend for this to be a walking challenge so I didn't really have a starting weight.
@@RickyGarcia_Learning other then the weight loss are there any other side effects you experienced?
I love walking. I started over a year ago for weight loss, but now it's like an addiction and I literally plan my days AROUND my walks. I think it's the best cardio you can do, honestly. 7 - 12 miles daily for me!
Doesn't walking get boring to you?
@@Livetoeat171 Yes it did, I don't walk much anymore and picked up cycling back in February.
Walking isn’t boring..You just need to change the mindset and find different paths to walk on

@Jimbo Jimbo haha fr, but update I don't walk anymore because I picked up cycling
It’s not difficult..it’s just time-consuming

I did about 100+ miles a week for several months during the lockdowns. Lost 20+ KGs without changing my eating habbits. These days, I do about 75 miles a week when all goes well. Even with it rains or storms I go out.
5-7 miles a day every day will work wonders. Actually in Japan most people walk on average 10 miles per day. 35 is a good age.

I walked half marathon everyday for 15-16 months. Lost 70pounds (really bad diet and general self-control). Now, i walk 25000 steps a day and just love the exercise. Yes, it is time consuming but you have to make schedule.
I walked an average of 25.000 steps a day 80% of the year. On my days off from work I walk for fun..
Admirable.

Good for you, hope you can keep it up!
i was a somewhat lardy (not fat but a tad chubby) 26 year old with a bad back a month and a half ago....
What was your back like before the walking? And how long until it felt better? Did you ease into the 20 miles or or start slowly?
He is back, back again!!!
I walked around my house while quarantine

Did your feet and knees recover from the challenge?
It’s not that difficult if you have good walking shoes and good stamina

Working for Royal Mail in the UK I have been doing over 100 miles a week for months now and I don't seem to suffer much apart from the occasional blister. I love how much fitter I am now.
Have you noticed weight loss and feeling better since you first started?
You should try the 'Four days march' in the Netherlands. 200 km in Four days, thousands walk it.
One day would be great to walk this Santiago de Compostela route, apparently the scenery is quite beautiful and people you meet along the way hospitable and friendly.
Flat as a witches tit though

Km or miles?
So what..That's not sustainable. What this guy is doing is. It's just not a competition ok.

They're holding up great
Inspirational!! Thanks for sharing bud 👍
I never realized how much my little toenail meant to me until he said he lost his lol
Lol, cherish that little buddy
Well done buddy, great video, it has inspired me.
My heart rate is always on the high end but my blood pressure is low. Odd. Good for you on your challenge.
Same here
My job is a lot associate, so I gather different types of carts, and I also load people's vehicles with products ranging from 40-300 pounds. I do average 30K steps every shift, and I work almost everyday. I feel like my legs have toned up slightly. I have been at the job since February so I hope it gets better!
How long have you been working that job?
1:15 You know you don’t shrink in a little rain right? 😅😂 Thank you for this video! 😁
Omg such a great idea!! I'll also do something like this after my uni exams next month!!
Love the intro. Forrest gump style 👊
Haha, I’m glad you liked it. I was worried the movie was so old no one would get it.
I started walking last year but wasnt too consistent. I have been more consistent this year. Before i had half a dozen kids, my height was 5’6. I lost 3 inches over the years. When i started walking, not only did my bp and resting pulse drop, i gained 2 inches in my height! I love walking. I only average about 4-6 miles a day. But its a start. Ive also lost 11 pounds this year.
That’s great! I hope you’re able to keep it up!
I think 30,000 steps daily is the sweet spot..Anything more is difficult to maintain daily
Hmm, I walk to work and back and take an evening stroll- about 8 miles day in total. I think I can do this :D
Hello. Watching now -very interesting -thumbs up like and subscribing. Found you on search for walking 30,000 steps -experience of other people.
Beginning of your video so funny. Reading what the experience is of walking long distance-working on this now. Walking over 100 miles in one week is great !
As Elle Woods would say... endorphins make you happy
You look thinner! Good for you! Enjoyed the video as always!
Thank you, I’m glad you liked it and you think I look thinner lol
I started a job as a cart wrangler at a mega grocery store and immediately went from a sedentary life to walking 30,000 miles /day 5 days a week which made me lose a few toenails and cope with toe blisters but after 9 months of this I am in much better physical shape, I have spent a lot of money on good shoes and I encourage you to walk in rain- it isn't so bad.
