Thanks for all in the information. We booked a Signature Suite specifically for the Sanctuary. We are so disappointed with the lack of shade and the loungers crammed so close together. With not all the seating padded, not everyone gets to have the same experience and they are crammed so close together in the Signature area there aren’t even tables between them. We are scheduled to sail in the Mediterranean late summer, no shade makes this area unappealing. We really expected the Sanctuary on this ship to be over the top fantastic but it is a huge fail for us.
If you remember, let us know how it goes for you. Maybe Princess will fix some of the issues by then, like umbrellas. It was too cold to really enjoy it on our cruise. Thank you for watching!

At the first boarding the Sanctuary had almost NO padded loungers... Everyone was confused...
It seems that as supplies and staffing allow, padding has been added to more and more chairs.
I suspect that, eventually, all chairs in tis area will be padded.
Watching your videos on each cruise you review makes me look forward to the day I will cruise in one of this ships 🛳️ , oh that will be a dream come through .
My wife and I were considering a Mediterranean cruise on Princess for the first time in the reserve mini suite. I'm sure long time Princess customers probably love the new Sun Princess ship but we don't see the appeal.
We are sailing on Celebrity Ascent also new in a Aqua Sky suite there beginning suite category which includes the retreat and many more amenities and yes the price is a bit more but we are getting more value, luxury amenities etc.

Yes! Awesome review. Thank you! We are cruising on the Sun Princess in June. We are booked in a mini-suite. I am not sure if I want to consider booking the sanctuary (or even if that might be an option). This will be our first Princess cruise and I wish I would have researched more about Signature Suites. Nonetheless, I am positive we will have a fantastic cruise no matter. Thank you again for your review. Much appreciated.
The ship will be full all Summer. Best chance to try the Sanctuary would be on a port day.

We have a couple Sun Princess cruises booked in Signature suites, the first being in October. The placement of the Sanctuary is a bit odd. You would think they would have put more thought into it. I do like having a dedicated lounger all day though and love the fact that I don't have to sprint up to the Sanctuary on embarkation day to beg for a space for the week.

About the Adult Pool area factor.
Contrary to what this video might indicate.... Princess ships before this have had the 'Retreat Pool' which is Adults Only. And is open to any adult passenger.
The fact that the SUN Princess does not have an open adult area, at all, is actually a problem.
With this area being 'Signature Only'.. There is no other truly adult area that I am aware of on the ship.
This is something that other Princess ships do have... and is the biggest MISS of all.
I am not sure if I will be getting on the 'waitlist' for loungers in the Sanctuary or not. The lack of any shading at all is also a huge MISS.

All these things remind me why I always cruise with Viking. It may be more expensive but everything is all inclusive except for the Chefs table which is a 12 person table where you make your own meal with the chef-$50. Otherwise, every restaurant is included. The spa is free if all you want is to use the steam room, the hot room ,the jacuzzi. Massages cost extra depending on what type of massage you want. I also love Viking as everyone on board is 16 and up. No children allowed.
The spa "thermal" area and the adults only policy are a couple of our favorite things about Viking and we totally agree. We love Seabourn too but it is different than Viking. We will be trying a Viking River soon, but have chosen Uniworld in the past for river cruises. We'll see how they do. Thanks for watching!

It looks like an opportunity to make extra money by “selling shade…” Cannot imagine many people would want to stay in the sun all day.
I just watched the 'webinar' by Princess, today,touting the new change where Deluxe Balconies and Mini's will be sold and allowed access to Signature restaurant and pool area. This means they are adding 270 cabins access to this area, which it seems was built for the 80 suites onboard. How is this appropriate since Suite guests are paying for the exclusivity of the benefits of the Sanctuary to now have to be faced with crowds that are everywhere else on the ship?
Thank you for your review. We are booked on the Sun in August and specifically booked a Signature Suite for the Sanctuary. We did the Enchanted last year and had trouble booking spots. Hopefully by the time we arrive they change and offer 1/2 day passes. Why pay a full day when we spend 1/2 day in the ports. Also can u order food from other places and have it delivered via the app or do u have to go that yourself?
Its gorgeous! Do they give out free medicine for people who get seasick? 👀
We really like a space where there are no children but this seems pricey! Also, not knowing if you will get a chair after paying seems bad.
Some princess ships have the retreat pool that is adult only but you have to deal with chair hogs!
It seems like the Dome is probably a better option, especially given the cost and lack of shade. Are you going to do a video about the Dome?
Actually we are thinking about working on the Seaview Bar next and we will include the Dome in that. The Seaview Bar was one of our favorite spots. Great suggestion! Is there anything specifically you want to know?
How busy is the dome during the day... Is it hard to find a spot, or do the 'chair-hogs' reign supreme?

Is “oversight” a euphemism for a mistake? It must have taken a lot of planning to design this ship.

The layout and overall design of this ship seems less than ideal. There are some obvious misses from a design standpoint.
SOOOO there really is no benefit paying for this part of the ship. Sounds like a rip-off to me.
And I'm booked twice on this ship. Definitely won't be going there to relax. I'll just stay on my balcony
