Just made the same ones but made a 4 inch backstop. Also went to my local skate shop and bought a few sheets of grip tape that I put on top. My old skating days finally paid off lol
The stop block is an excellent idea but in this instance I think it is too short and too far away from the tires. Wheel chocks would probably be a better choice, as you can place them right against the tire(s). I would place the wheel chocks on the back tires instead though. Less likely to roll off on solid ground as opposed to the ramp platform.

Let me give you one pointer from an old carpenter.. cut your stop blocks about 1.5" thick minimum then turn them 90° from how you were fastening them and that will not want to split or be as fragile as fastening screws thru the crosscut.. just a minor pointer... Praise be to God, brother!
nice job but, that rear stop block should be alot closer and a bit higher to the tire, if the car by chance start roll it may roll over that block, being closer and higher wont give it a chance to roll

yes - for the rear stop block - rather than using dowel idea... put your car on ramp, and see where back of tire is... give your self another inch back from it but make yourself a 1.5" wide rabbit you can just slide in a stop block of whatever height will fit - this way your stop block is fairly close to the tire, and can be any height you want higher than the top board... or, just cut right through your top board where you want, 1.5" wide, and then just put a piece of 2x10 through - say 3-4" high...

To be completely honest, I can’t remember an exact formula or calculations of how I did it, but these are the general steps I went through. First, measure the width of your tire where it’s within an inch of the ground and add 18 inches to it. That’s probably a good formula to determine an approximate size of the top layer. From there, I would just add 8 or so inches per layer that you plan to add. Fortunately, this design is pretty forgiving so you could make it a bit longer or shorter and would be fine either way. Hope that helps!

Imo should be close to the tire. ....... if a car begins to roll back,accidently .... the momentum with the distance allowed, it would probably roll over the chock. Or Could,easier than if its closer to the tire to prevent it from gaining much momentum.

One thing to consider with placing it closer to the tire is that it may be difficult to get the correct angle to add and remove the stop block if it’s too close, so just be sure to measure with that in mind.
Your car will gain momentum rolling backwards, you should test push the car and see if it can jump your stop blocks. Otherwise, just put some wheel chocks behind your front tires, you have plenty of room.

Yeah mass produced ""heavy duty plastic" car ramps make me nervous! as well as mass produced steel ramps with crappy tack welds made somewhere overseas. I made my own heavy duty jack stands from .25" and .375" steel. I modeled it after 22 ton jack stands. I'm gonna be making wood ramps just to keep the cost down. I wonder how much weight the wood type can support?
I’m totally with you on that, it’s not worth the risk getting under something that could fail. Nice, those sound super sturdy! I don’t know for certain what the weight it can support is, but I would feel very confident putting even the heaviest vehicle on top of these ramps. Since it’s solid material, I don’t see any easy way for it to fail as long as you’re on a level surface.

Hi! I think generally speaking the main concern with that would be the stability of the car if propped up like that on ramps since it would be very difficult to ensure it doesn’t roll backwards. I think for your application, a jack and jack stands would probably be the safest option.
