Stinky Feet at 36000 Feet: Pegasus 737 - Riyadh to Istanbul

  • Pegasus is a Turkish LCC that touts itself as a friendly and affordable Holiday Airline connecting Europe and the Middle East through Turkey. On my trip from Riyadh to Istanbul, that friendliness is put to the test as an unruly passenger decides to use my armrest as her footstool.

    Hey, Turkish person here. For me, Pegasus is a "must avoid" airline for flights lasting over 59 minutes and 59 seconds. Economy class is pure torture (I'm 190 cm tall), and for domestic flights they aren't even a cheaper option most of the time. Even if they are, if you can find a Turkish Airlines flight for a bit more money, throw your wallet at it. I once flew from Copenhagen to Istanbul with Pegasus. Won't be making that mistake again.
    Also, as some other people have mentioned in the comments, they are even stingier with their own employees, most of them are underpaid and/or overworked. So pretty much the only case to fly Pegasus is when there is no other option...or I don't know, if the kidnappers who put you in a luggage prefer Pegasus...which is quite unlikely since they offer almost no luggage capacity for free.
    Ironically, it looks like it says "Fly, Pigs" on their planes. Kind of sums everything well enough.

    As cabin crew, leaving the sidewall lights on during night flights is cruel and unusual punishment towards passengers. TURN THEM OFF after boarding! Now add the "stinky feet"..., CHECK PLEASE! If you had posed the same concern to me during a flight, I would have gladly shook the culprit until she awoke. Afterwards, politely (but firmly) requesting she move/cover her bare feet since it was causing a disturbance. If she refused to awaken, I would then be forced to consider it a medical emergency. "Zap", out comes the AED, as that usually gets their attention! :) Completely enjoy you videos. Your sense of humor is priceless! Cheers!

    • @df3555
      @df3555 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, as crew, at the minimum I would have comp'd a blanked (assuming this low cost carrier charges) to cover her feet. And I would have gotten my air freshener from my crew bag and sprayed the heck out of her feet... if she wakes up, she got the message.

    True story: Returning from a business trip. The last leg was the last flight out of Las Vegas. Halfway through the flight, I felt something touching my calves (I was wearing shorts). Looked down and saw some guy’s bare feet stretched out so far under my seat his toes were touching my calves. I “accidentally” stepped on is toes a few times and he finally retracted his feet. Spent the rest of the flight grossed out. Totally feel you on the foot incident.

    Can I just start by saying that your videos are PERFECTLY AWESOME. The editing, your dry humor and the way you narrate the flight is amazing. You got a new subscriber that really 'likes' your every video. Anyways, back to Pegasus. I fly with them usually from AMS-SAW. Mainly because of the huge price differences with other airlines, but hey that shouldn't be a surprise because they are a lowcost airline.
    FA's: The last flight I had with them was in february and honestly the crew during that flight was the most eloquent crew I have ever seen, chatting with passengers and smiling during the flight. When I left the plane I made a remark about that and thanked them, they were very happy to hear that. But last year on the same route some of the crew members had a very disintrested look on their face as if they were forced to work. So it really depends on the crew but overall I had positive experiences with the crew and some exceptions.
    -Catering: I think the catering by Turkish Do&Co is the best a lowcost airline can get. I order my food online (it's cheaper that way, in-plane orders are a couple of euros more expensive) and the menu has a variety of choices that tastes good.
    So, you shouldn't fly with Pegasus for the experience like with Turkish airlines. It's a lowcost airline afterall. But in my opinion one of the better lowcost airlines because of the catering.

    • @brucemckean2848
      @brucemckean2848 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      "it really depends on the crew". Yup, for any airline, for any flight. One's chances for a human experience are better on some than others.

    Hello, first of all I enjoyed your content a lot ! As a pilot&traveller from Turkey. I'd like to say that Pegasus is really good company in terms of crew members. However, there are some people in the cabin of pegasus doing this job only for money, not interested in aviation or anything. Causes their behaviour to passengers like in this video. I'm not saying its normal if they don't have interest in their job they can act like that. I m just saying that you should give one more chance to this company. I hope that very good crew will be welcoming you, hopefully. Be safe man see you next video !

    Ah, so many stories out there! Here's mine: Thai Inter, Hong Kong to Bangkok in economy (my government was paying). On the starboard side and two rows ahead a passenger was freaking out. He stood on the seat and was yelling (singing?) in a very animated fashion. He was ignored by the cabin staff. When called, one came to me. I pointed and asked if something could be done. The staff person lowered her voice and said: 'He is quite mad, you see'. Yes, I could see and that was that. Everyone survived...but the memory lingers.

    Flew Pegasus once. The overall experience didn’t include bare feet on my armrest, but wasn’t great either. In terms of the turbulence simulator, and this was the most memorable of my flight with them, it’s not built into the runway, but their aircrafts, as I made a similar experience on another airport.

    Hey there! Pegasus is a good option in short or domestic flights (1h-1.5h) however their timing is absolutely the worst! One time me and my grandmother were traveling to out hometown during Ramadan. The gates opened half an hour late but the worst is we hat to sit and wait inside of the plane for 3 hours. When I asked for water to give my granny who had high blood pressure and diabetes the crew said they can’t give us free anything. Most Turkish airline companies advertise themselves using Turkish hospitality well the biggest part of the Turkish hospitality is to respect and care for the elders. Anyway after that incident I decided not to use Pegasus anymore and I’m still behind my decision.

    Never thought having military aircraft flying overhead would be such a treat. In Phoenix Arizona we constantly have f35s and f16s flying overhead each day, most people think it's annoyingly loud

    My experience with Pegasus was good. The crew were nice and took care of the passengers well.

    Pegasus is known for underpaying the staff and low engagement among them. Considering the issues with the runway at SAW and a few recent incidents, I would avoid.

    He doesn't visits a lounge. That's a must for me. Even without priority passes I'm calling me through to find out which one to buy into...
    Wouldn't do for JFK wingtips though...

    At 7:38, you say that Turkish don’t fly to Sabiha Gokcen, but at 5:35, the departure board does show a Turkish flight to Sabiha Gokcen about an hour after your flight

      Yes good catch! Turkish flies to both SAW and IST, the flight I was looking at goes to IST.

    I think Pegasus is a very descent low cost airline. You should give them another shot to Europe maybe.

    I flew with Pegasus and it was actually pretty good. You don’t have the best legroom, but it’s a low cost airline. The price is a bit too high for me because I can fly with the same legroom for a lower price to turkey. I’m flying with Corendon and sunexpress this summer. I’m curious how it gonna be
