    When will the maps be updated for Canadian lakes ? So far they only follow 10 ft contours from what I understand.

    Can you set the contour feature by using the remote instead of the helix unit

  • @ronjenkins5257

    Will it hug a contout on a river on moving current

    • @ValleyMarine1

      The motor can follow a contour with the right mapping and thrust. Depending on the current you may need a higher thrust motor.

    Does helix 7 g3n supports the follow the contour?

    What is that map. Does this work navionics maps too?

    • @ValleyMarine1
      @ValleyMarine1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is going to be the LakeMaster Chip in the Humminbird unit. The Navionics chip should be compatible with the Humminbirds as well.

    I have a Terrova on my skeeter bass boat and I keep smacking the roller on my trailer when loading and unloading. (From what I read this is a common issues with election steer motors)
    I’m thinking of moving it more to the side to clear the roller. very similar to how it’s mounted here. Does mounting it like this make the boat move more at an angle? I would purchase a sliding mounting plate but none of them really seem secure enough in terms of theft.

      Late to the reply but minnkota makes a aluminum mount thats 2 positions for this reason specifically, it’s solid but a little pricey

    Can you tell me what length shaft you went with on the trolling motor?

    • @ValleyMarine1
      @ValleyMarine1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is most likely the 60" shaft but you will see people upgrade to the 72" if they expect to be in higher out of the water due to boat height or conditions etc.

    so, you can sync a Minn Kota with a Helix 7

    • @ValleyMarine1
      @ValleyMarine1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, provided you have the following: Helix 7G2N or newer (network capable) and an I Pilot LINK model. If you want to have the motor follow a contour, you will also need a Lakemaster Chip. Be sure to verify that the Lakemaster chip covers the area where you want to fish. In Washington State, the lakemaster chip only covers some areas.

      @@ValleyMarine1 does follow the contour work with navionics or just with lake master?

    • @timtillfishing5906
      @timtillfishing5906 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you need lake master chip for front unit as well as console unit to make all this work

    What if you set the cruise control feature on the MinnKota so that the kicker does ALL the forward propulsion and leave the i-Link on? Will the MinnKota still fire up to turn the boat onto its course and then power down when steering isn't needed? Just curious if this would extend battery life even more...?

    • @chachi5975
      @chachi5975 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've played around with that and the Minn Kota motor speed won't increase if the boat is going the speed you set on cruise control. You will go off course. If you keep the trolling motor at 3-4 (30%-40%), you will have enough power to keep steering on course and get whatever you can from the kicker motor to keep your chosen speed.
