This is exactly like we worked back in the 60s working as an agricultural engineer on MF tractors. We would do a job like this on site working out of a van. I cant believe now what we used to do or how I did it. We could do a brake overall on oil immersed inboard disc brakes on site in a day, a clutch 4 to 6 hours on site, new pistons and liners in a 3cylinder Perkins A3152 engine on site in 5 hours on my own, never used a torque wrench. What I will say though is I would have had some axle stands under it and had some better boots on too not safety flip flops. This all takes me back. Thanks for the video.

@@TheHuskyGT Beam style torque wrenches are dirt cheap even over there. Don't need a power tool to know that. It's not with what they're doing the job WITH that is the problem, but how they do it. Chiseling at seal points, rolling parts in dirt, slamming shafts to disassemble them, the ol' arm torque wrench, reusing old bearing rollers, reusing solvent, the list goes on and on. I don't knock the gumption, I knock the lack of actual mechanical skill.

It's a shame that all these independant manufacturer's have been bought over by multinational conglomerates! It's the same in the construction/mining industry, which leaves people(dealers, suppliers, manufacturers and users) beholden to 2 or 3 massive global corps. It seems that the predatory financial sector has forced this upon manufacturers, so as to avoid corporate predation by others! Fiat is a perfect example if this, as is Terex.

Not always. You’re correct - technically. However here’s an example: I just overhauled my Chevy’s 3.1 V6 and the lower intake manifold had 2 minor oil leaks because I used too little RTV on the block seal. When I went back in to clean it up and apply a new bead, the lower manifold bolts were loose!! I tightened them to spec, which is 18ft/lbs. Now, 18 ft/lbs in my book is practically only finger-tight, which seemed wrong, so after cleaning up the gasket and applying a robust RTV bead, I tightened down the manifold bolts according to my own feel, using common sense of course. The bolts haven’t come loose this time and the seal is perfect with no leaks - so yes, you can often go by feel with automotive fasteners in an as-needed situation if you’re not a total idiot.

I wonder how much they charge for a job like this because I know in the US that is a very expensive job between labor and parts we talking about a few thousand dollars.

Based on what I saw from another channel where they used to post the price for the job, this one shouldn't cost more than USD100.
